I gotta get off the computer. I tend to chain vape when on here. My throat is killing me and vaping does not help. Went to the Dr today. Storm came through first. Stopped on the way to mail a package to Bob via UPS. All the employees in the little strip mall were standing outside, smoking their cigarettes, stores were dark. UPS store guy came out. I said, guess not a good time to mail a package,eh? He said no, no power. On to the Dr. No power there (it's a small town). but his battery operated devices worked. He looked in my throat and said "not good". I was supposed to drive to Atlanta tomorrow to hook up with Bob and do 2 weeks of shows. Dr said "No way!!". So I am staying home. Dang, peeps want to meet Geordi!! Oh well, he will be a big hairy oof before they meet him (na, he will still be a squirt). I don't run a fever, ever, wish I did. Would burn this sucker out and I would be fine. Diagnosis laryngitis, but I suspect Strep with how inflamed my throat is. But with no fever, no red flag for testing. He did confirm that he is seeing lots of strep, as did Geordi's breeder, who is an ER nurse. "GET TO THE DR!!" she said.

Dr gave me a prescription for a Zpack of antibiotics, couldn't wire it in due to no power. I go to Walmart to get it filled, Walmart CLOSED!! The whole town is closed due to no power. OK, there is a Walgreens about 20 miles away. Off I go. I know there is a UPS store there too, so I can mail this package. Get to Walgreens, turn in my script, woman takes info, sorry, we don't take your BLUE CROSS insurance!! I would have questioned, but I was feeling too crappy and just wanted to go home. Got the package mailed and got home. Will get my meds tomorrow. Ibuprophen and Mucinex keeps me going for now.

What an afternoon. I feel like crap, but I will get better. It's only an illness, not something serious like others have had. Better I stay home and take it easy or it could turn into something serious. I kind of thank you all for making me stop and say, hey, slow down. But my vaping sure is on a holding pattern!!

Night all,I will be fine. I am grateful others with more serious problems are on the mend.
Get well soon my friend. Hey it's our job to make sure that you take care of yourself! :)

Ok - I'm on a roll ... how about these ... yep ... I've got a couple of these in my desk drawer.

Free tip of the Day .. I have several of these, they have various uses outside what they were designed for .. one is : the frets on a guitar will eventually need to be polished / cleaned .. the long, thin slots are generally a great masking tool, by simply holding the slot on top of the fret and using a polishing compound, small rag piece .. it will mask the wood from the compound, thus eliminating the need to use tape on each single fret .. finish off with a polish rag, and voila, done in 1/4th the time, and you have nice, shiny and clean frets ..

Didn't work. Dogged started yapping a few minutes ago and I take it seriously at night because she doesn't do it often. Got up and checked, nothing wrong that I can see. I've got some serious floodlights in the backyard, lights the whole yard up like daylight, nothing. Front yard is also well lit and on IR motion sensors, Nada there either. Stupid dog. I looked in the hangout but am kind of afraid to drop in because of the noise (Not you guys, me!!). Doree has had difficulty sleeping the last couple of nights and I am not the quietest talker as most of you hangout folks know. So I think I am going to pass for now. Enjoy yourselves and I will see you all tomorrow evening instead of late night tonight (this morning). I would like to make a date for it. I'll be there waiting at 8ish. Maybe earlier. Hopefully see you then.

The new avatar is Mako Kitty. We had to put her down last year in July so I thought I would use her picture for my avatar in memorial. She was a great kitty and was around 18 years old when she passed. Old for a kitty!

Note the red blanket, means she was in my lap!

She was a cutie!

Red, my avatar, had to leave us this spring, at only 15. His brother is still with us though, and our (part) Himalayan.

Hard to let them go...
Yep, sure is. I like my critters. I am more of a cat people than a dog person. Although I definitely love my Abby dog. She kind of snuck up on me and now I have spoiled her rotten and am beginning to work hard at breaking her of some bad habits. Hey dog, I'm the master here not you!:-x She won't eat dog food mostly just treats and people food. Entirely my fault but, I don't know if I'm going to be able to break her of it. After all, can't let her starve. I know it's bad for her but what's a father to do???

She will eat when she gets hungry! At first I'd start with a dry/canned mix. People food will lead to her being overweight. It has fer moi!

Hi Iffy, Don't know if your actually here or left the window open again. See what flies in when you do that?!?!:w00t:

It doesn't appear that July is going to be my month. A little back story here.........roughly 18 years ago, I got a kitten from my sister. He was white from head to toe, so naturally, we named him Snow. At first, he was my cat, but as the years went by, he and my daughter developed a bond. When my daughter moved out of the house her last year in college, she asked to take him with her. I couldn't say no. I had my other cats at the time, and I knew she would take good care of him.

Fast forward to today. Since two weeks ago, Snow had been showing signs of illness. Shana took him in a couple of weeks ago, and the vet said he had a viral infection. Fast forward...a few days ago, he stopped eating and just kept close to my daughter. She took him to the Vet on Saturday, and long story short, they had to put him down today.

I'm heartbroken for her. I'm heartbroken for me. The cat never did forget me, and every time I went to my daughter's he came, meowed at me and always jumped in my lap for a little love, and then would go on his merry way. In true Shana fashion, she is waiting until I get home, and then she is having a funeral for the cat, complete with scripture, music, and God knows what else. I hate that I wasn't there, and butthead that I am, been crying off and on all day.

So sorry to hear that, Rotowoman and all the others who have lost their little fluff brains. I'm down to two of them, and won't be taking on any more - unless they're obviously homeless and hungary. I'm seventy-one and couldn't stand the heartache of losing another. I also can't bear the thought of them being stranded if something happens to me.

Oh (((Roto))) I'm so sorry for all you've had happening recently......and now this......so hard to lose our little critters.....they are, after all, a member of one's family

{{{{Roto}}}}}!! I am so sorry for your loss. Yes, they become part of our family and it's hard to see them go. The pain never goes away, it just gets put into it's place so you can move on. Gone from your life but never from your heart. Godspeed Snow! And go ahead and cry as long as you need to. It is very healing.

As for me, since I can't taste anything anyway, I am vaping unflavored. But even that in extreme moderation because anything on my throat just irritates it more. I will get my antibiotics today and should be good in a few days.

We have decided that our current mutt is our last pet also. We travel to much and as everyone knows sometimes we travel for extended periods - our daughter takes care of our home and our four legged friend while we are gone and we have on occasion been forced to use a kennel, but he sure misses us and gets real protective when we return every time - especially if we use a kennel. We just do not feel it is fair to him or to other pets in the future for us to leave them so much.
