Ok - I'm on a roll ... how about these ... yep ... I've got a couple of these in my desk drawer.

That is an eraser shield, I do have several in my drafting kit. They go with my electric eraser.

Mike, Do you still have your templates. I have both the engineering (electronic symbols) and architectural (toilets and tubs, etc.). Used to have a full size drawing board but it literally was too big to pay to move to Key West when I went back into the Navy. Now I have a small one that will prop up on the kitchen table with an attached sliding straight edge that rides the wires on the sides.

Yep...had one of those, too. A box containing all my drafting equipment went missing in all the moves...as well as my film developing equipment. :-x

I got a bunch of templates and French curves and stuff someplace. I have an antique wooden drafting table in the basement. It's got to be 75-100 years old. It's a neat piece. The wheels to loosen it and adjust hight and tilt of the table are cast and look like miniature ships wheels. Janet's hinted a number of times over the years I should get rid of it. But I just can't even though I know I should.

I used to have an articulated drafting machine but it was a real pain to keep aligned and the wire riding straight edge stays parallel all the time. Got a complete set of triangles and french curves, even an adjustable triangle. Don't really use any of it much anymore but, if things go as I plan down south I will again. I am going to design my own house. Been squirelling away plans that I like and Doree has said had features she likes. I'm planning on combining them into our dream home, hopefully. It may not work out but, it's what I want to do. You know sometime the money fairy poops on us instead enriching us. Been doing that to us quite a bit lately. Reference an earlier post.

Don't you dare! And if you do decide to please give me first dibs on purchasing it. Mine wasn't quite that ornate but was about 50 years old. My father bought it to work at home when he got his first draftsman job in New York City right before WW2. Hell guess it would be a lot older now. I gave it to my brother Steve in 1980.

How soon gum erasers are forgotten...

BTW, I traded a lil' ol' ragged transistor radio for a small drafting set (JC Pennys) back in USAF tech school. Still got dat also. It has as many miles as I do!

My Dad designed his own house. Just a modest modified cape cod ... but I found his drawings one day and that kind of inspired me to be a draftsman/architect. I was good at drafting but realized I'd never make it as a architect, just didn't have the 'design/inpiration' gene in my dna makeup. So I gave up on that idea. I wouldn't be surprised if he used that table to do his drawings and plans for the house.

I have an eraser bag too. You use it to provide something for your instruments to ride on so as to prevent the drawing from getting dirty. Instruments (triangles and such) pick up a lot of dirt from the pencil lines and such.

Sweet! My brother was given a couple of those from an old college. Makes an interesting dining table!

My father was credited with inventing driven piling/floating slab construction. They use it to build multi-story buildings when there isn't adequate underpinning soil. That giant hotel in Abu Daubi uses it.

He had a great eye and was a hell of an engineer too. I was very proud of him and miss him a lot. Never had a degree in anything. Got his architect licence by passing the exam before a degree was required. Hell he wrote most of it in Florida.

One , heck I've got a whole set of them but, I think about half of them have dried ink (Pelican India Ink) in them and I am not at all sure I could clean them even if I wanted to. My father on the other hand could have gotten them spotless in less than a day. Of course they don't sell carbon tetrachloride to the general public any longer.

I was putting myself through college, and money was tight. So I got one body and different tips. Danged if I can find those, but the pens are all in my desk.

Ok - I'm on a roll ... how about these ... yep ... I've got a couple of these in my desk drawer.

LIkewise, but there're in the Pickett drafting tools case :)

Also have a compass and divider set from Keuffel & Esser, which came to me from my MIL's husband. (He was 97 when he passed, some 10 or so years back, so those tools are OLD! :w00t: )

Should NOT! At least not without getting an honest appraisal. Wait for Antiques Roadshow to come by...

Yeah, eraser bags :) Not just for the tools, but also good when used with a light hand to get rid of markup lines.

Glad you made it across. Glad you brought the cool weather with you, as it's been in the 90s... but supposed to be "average" temps all week.

I gotta get off the computer. I tend to chain vape when on here. My throat is killing me and vaping does not help. Went to the Dr today. Storm came through first. Stopped on the way to mail a package to Bob via UPS. All the employees in the little strip mall were standing outside, smoking their cigarettes, stores were dark. UPS store guy came out. I said, guess not a good time to mail a package,eh? He said no, no power. On to the Dr. No power there (it's a small town). but his battery operated devices worked. He looked in my throat and said "not good". I was supposed to drive to Atlanta tomorrow to hook up with Bob and do 2 weeks of shows. Dr said "No way!!". So I am staying home. Dang, peeps want to meet Geordi!! Oh well, he will be a big hairy oof before they meet him (na, he will still be a squirt). I don't run a fever, ever, wish I did. Would burn this sucker out and I would be fine. Diagnosis laryngitis, but I suspect Strep with how inflamed my throat is. But with no fever, no red flag for testing. He did confirm that he is seeing lots of strep, as did Geordi's breeder, who is an ER nurse. "GET TO THE DR!!" she said.

Dr gave me a prescription for a Zpack of antibiotics, couldn't wire it in due to no power. I go to Walmart to get it filled, Walmart CLOSED!! The whole town is closed due to no power. OK, there is a Walgreens about 20 miles away. Off I go. I know there is a UPS store there too, so I can mail this package. Get to Walgreens, turn in my script, woman takes info, sorry, we don't take your BLUE CROSS insurance!! I would have questioned, but I was feeling too crappy and just wanted to go home. Got the package mailed and got home. Will get my meds tomorrow. Ibuprophen and Mucinex keeps me going for now.

What an afternoon. I feel like crap, but I will get better. It's only an illness, not something serious like others have had. Better I stay home and take it easy or it could turn into something serious. I kind of thank you all for making me stop and say, hey, slow down. But my vaping sure is on a holding pattern!!

Night all,I will be fine. I am grateful others with more serious problems are on the mend.

I'll say it again, hope you have a great time. Are you going to be able to hangout or are we going to have to wait until you get home to see your ugly mug?
