We spent the day baby sitting Miles ... poor baby has a bad case of foot and mouth disease. Spots all over his poor little body. But remarkably he's been in a pretty good mood and not letting the sickness get him down. We'll probably have him for the rest of the week as he can't go to day care as long as he's sick.
Aww, poor baby! Hope recovery goes well & y'all get some rest!

Almost got that right. It's Hand, foot and mouth virus. Quite different from Hoof and mouth disease which is what animals get. The fever is pretty much gone, but he's got a few ulcers in his throat that sometimes makes him a bit cranky. Mostly he's still pleasant though and smiling even with a fever. He really looks a mess though. Seems to be going around in this area.

Matt...I would certainly help you, ( and i'm a newcomer to this amazing place),as would just about everyone here. I felt so welcomed right from the first here on the porch. I have to think that the length of our lives, the adversities we've all gone through, the strength and knowledge we've gained through all our trials and tribulations over the years have given us an inner strength and some modicum of wisdom that the young haven't experienced or achieved as yet.

maybe the bottom line is that we have survived, accepted so many things that we can't change and did our best to make better the things that we can change..i.e., ourselves, for the better. We all know that we are survivors , that we don't have to..or need to...strive so hard in any area of life. I'm pretty sure that I've finally come to the point where I can just 'Let It be".

I thank you all for the warm welcome, it means more to me than you may ever know.
Deb, thank you for inviting me here!!!!!

and yes, mama bear, i'm now going to bed for real..

sheeesh:D

He!! yes! Very well said and so glad to have you here with us!

Oh my goodness ... the poor folks in Arkansas ... are we next?

Online Retail Sales Prohibited in Arkansas Effective Today
Arkansas ACT 1235 (SB978)

Arkansas ACT 1235 (SB978) is officially in full effect as of today, July 21, 2015. The bill classifies vapor products as tobacco products thereby inherently prohibits any online retail or direct online B2C sales of any "vapor product, alternative nicotine product or e-liquid product" to occur within the Arkansas state line. In addition to disallowing online retail sales relating to any vaping product, all brick & mortar retail locations within Arkansas must now obtain licenses in order to sell vaping products within the state.

Wow..... and so it begins....stock up everyone, as much as you can. I'm not a doomsday sayer but it's been heading in this direction for quite a while now and , unfortunately, we're powerless to stop it.

The following question I am asking in complete and total seriousness .. given the Geographic Approximate outline of the Map below .. who, in all seriousness, would SERIOUSLY consider a Road Trip, either collectively, on your own, or in some manner that would be comfortable to you, with the epicenter of said Road Trip being the Great State of Florida as the Destination, since a large majority of our Tribe live in Florida and it would be the logical choice .. consider all facets of your individual scenario .. and I'm not talking about immediately .. a thing like this, if done, takes planning ..

I'd be up for it. I need to do something fun.

I gotta get off the computer. I tend to chain vape when on here. My throat is killing me and vaping does not help. Went to the Dr today. Storm came through first. Stopped on the way to mail a package to Bob via UPS. All the employees in the little strip mall were standing outside, smoking their cigarettes, stores were dark. UPS store guy came out. I said, guess not a good time to mail a package,eh? He said no, no power. On to the Dr. No power there (it's a small town). but his battery operated devices worked. He looked in my throat and said "not good". I was supposed to drive to Atlanta tomorrow to hook up with Bob and do 2 weeks of shows. Dr said "No way!!". So I am staying home. Dang, peeps want to meet Geordi!! Oh well, he will be a big hairy oof before they meet him (na, he will still be a squirt). I don't run a fever, ever, wish I did. Would burn this sucker out and I would be fine. Diagnosis laryngitis, but I suspect Strep with how inflamed my throat is. But with no fever, no red flag for testing. He did confirm that he is seeing lots of strep, as did Geordi's breeder, who is an ER nurse. "GET TO THE DR!!" she said.

Dr gave me a prescription for a Zpack of antibiotics, couldn't wire it in due to no power. I go to Walmart to get it filled, Walmart CLOSED!! The whole town is closed due to no power. OK, there is a Walgreens about 20 miles away. Off I go. I know there is a UPS store there too, so I can mail this package. Get to Walgreens, turn in my script, woman takes info, sorry, we don't take your BLUE CROSS insurance!! I would have questioned, but I was feeling too crappy and just wanted to go home. Got the package mailed and got home. Will get my meds tomorrow. Ibuprophen and Mucinex keeps me going for now.

What an afternoon. I feel like crap, but I will get better. It's only an illness, not something serious like others have had. Better I stay home and take it easy or it could turn into something serious. I kind of thank you all for making me stop and say, hey, slow down. But my vaping sure is on a holding pattern!!

Night all,I will be fine. I am grateful others with more serious problems are on the mend.

Oh wow, that sucks! I'm just trying to catch up here so I'm hoping you're feeling better today. Please get some rest and take care of yourself.

Well, when I finally got back to the apartment early this am, I bawled my eyes out in memory of
Snow. Cried for a lot of other stuff too. I must have needed it because I actually slept 9 straight hours without getting up.!! I'm much better today.

I'm SO ready to go home, but after my hitch, I have two more days at another base.

So, now I'm back to singing my mantra "It's gonna be all right"

It doesn't appear that July is going to be my month. A little back story here.........roughly 18 years ago, I got a kitten from my sister. He was white from head to toe, so naturally, we named him Snow. At first, he was my cat, but as the years went by, he and my daughter developed a bond. When my daughter moved out of the house her last year in college, she asked to take him with her. I couldn't say no. I had my other cats at the time, and I knew she would take good care of him.

Fast forward to today. Since two weeks ago, Snow had been showing signs of illness. Shana took him in a couple of weeks ago, and the vet said he had a viral infection. Fast forward...a few days ago, he stopped eating and just kept close to my daughter. She took him to the Vet on Saturday, and long story short, they had to put him down today.

I'm heartbroken for her. I'm heartbroken for me. The cat never did forget me, and every time I went to my daughter's he came, meowed at me and always jumped in my lap for a little love, and then would go on his merry way. In true Shana fashion, she is waiting until I get home, and then she is having a funeral for the cat, complete with scripture, music, and God knows what else. I hate that I wasn't there, and butthead that I am, been crying off and on all day.

{{{{Roto}}}} Oh man, I'm so sorry. Poor kitty. Our critters bring us so much joy and it's so hard to loose them.

Here is a picture of my little lady. @Janet H, you are so correct about them bringing us joy. She has been my saving grace since I lost Nancy. Chiquita is perfectly content to sit on my lap while I am working on the laptop. Sits on my lap with her chin on the desktop. If a dog or cat comes on TV she will jump up and bark like there is no tomorrow. The other night the prez came on and she really started raising hades until the news clip was over. All I could do was laugh.
