Yet another reason that a planned get-together with Porchers holds no compelling attraction to me: prevalent ideas in which I find no logic, and with which I have absolutely zero want or desire to voluntarily associate myself in person. I'm more than happy to deal with such lunacy at a distance, and it's much more fun (as well as less stress) for me to spend physical time with those who come closer to sharing my personal beliefs.

That's just the way it is. I realize that in this small group my general feelings happen to be minority opinions. Yet, I still enjoy being here "at safe Internet distance" because of our common interests, the primary of which is vaping. But: a glutton for punishment I am not, and I feel no urge to reduce the physical distance between us for any significant period of time.

The open acceptance of differing views and outlooks, spoken rationally and with a degree of understanding, expands our own personal horizons, if given the chance .. at any age, a closed mind limits ideas which otherwise could be worthwhile .. although many may not be swayed by others ideas / thoughts / beliefs, the purpose of a discourse is to gain a greater understanding of why we differ, and perhaps lend a new perspective to all that engage in that discourse ..

The tragedy in Louisiana is another tragedy added to the long list of tragedies .. those that would advocate we all should bear arms as a protective measure for the Greater Good .. ?? Really .. ?? More guns won't solve the problem .. more guns will simply provide even easier access .. a determined and quick unexpected attack can happen well before the ability of a "Defender" is able to react .. and, you better be sure you've got a darn good aim, or you'll end up inflicting more damage on bystanders .. and before you poo-poo this concept as another left leaning rant from a, er, left leaner, I am a card carrying NRA member ..

Solutions .. ?? There are none that can fully work, 100% of the time ..

Personally, I'm not at the militia level, but I do agree that people should be able to carry guns in America.

Jup not up to the armed militia part either. I don't personally own a gun now, although I have in the past. But the day they totally take them away is the day we truly and forevermore become completely controlled by the government.

Yes, I can attest that rock salt from a 12 ga shotgun really does hurt and you can never get all of the salt out. Mom tried, but it couldn't all be washed out. Of course, her laughing the whole time didn't help.
