Spoons - even the non-business end, are pretty rounded. No sharp edges. Unless it's a grapefruit spoon.

Well, budder ...., (snicker) I'm thinkin' itz a safety thing. If they had a list of what metal you can use and what you can't... just confuse the helk out of a lot a idjuts (like me). So easier to say no metal.
On da udder hand, a stainless bowl may not heat properly since the metal "may" stop the microwaves from penetrating. But dunno.

makes sense. That's kinda neat to know. Now.......can you splain why on a metal rack that is in my SIL's sorta microwave, but I think it's kinda a convection microwave (is that a real thing)? It's something more than just a microwave and huge.....and I think it's also metal inside, not sure......when I nuke popcorn, sometimes it'll spark and burn a small hole in the bag. I'm thinkin grease from the bag, but not sure. Freaked me out first time I saw that.
