There's a lot of information in this lengthy Consumer Reports article about hearing aids. You don't need to be a subscriber to view the article.
Best Hearing Aid Buying Guide – Consumer Reports
That is a good article. They didn't review brands, they just reviewed features. I think that is a tip-off to the fact that HA's are almost infinitely customizable, so if you have the options of several brands, it is best to list the features you want, then go looking across brands for whatever HA will fill the bill.
I'm currently using a GN Resound that's supposed to be pretty good.
My previous ones were that brand. I liked them, although the technology got dated. One of the worst problems with hearing
devices, IMHO. But new ones are also nice.
Off the top of my head....Omg Meniere, and MattB101 are two people who could give you some input as to what they're using, etc....
Legs, too.
Thanks for the link. I've actually been a member of that forum for a few years, but apparently haven't made good use of it. Still, nobody came out and said this just blew the others off the table. I guess the fall back position is the trial period. I think the trial (full refund) period is down to 30 days not, but I've probably had enough experience with GN that will be enough. Since my current aids still function, I'm going to have to see more than a boarder line improvement before I plunk down something north of 30 grand.
I am also a member there, and I just got back in! Been a long time since I participated, but I learned a LOT! Don't get receiver in the canal, unless you enjoy going to their office to get repairs. I prefer to get mine fitted as if for someone with more severe loss, because I don't like the chirp when feedback suppression kicks in. I think that technology is oversold.
My current ones are
Behind the Ear Hearing Aids, BTE Hearing Aids The advantage for me is that they are not far away from here. A hard-to-fit friend of mine actually went there to their clinic. They ended up hiring away our Mayo audi.
North of 30,000$ ???? You are really looking for high-end ones, then!
