nice........are those rock lobsters iffy???
No, Caribbean lobsters; no claws.
Rock and slipper 'bugs' are generally smaller... and much more difficult to locate/spot/harvest.

I thought the same! With the location of the blue quilt square behind Miles' head, it kind of looks like he just graduated. What a fine Miles Smile! The picture of Miles and Mike is great too.

When my DH of over 30 years now and I got married my son (from a previous marriage) was about 5. First day of kindergarten DH was late to work. Had a client meeting. DH explained his tardiness reason - had to take sone to kindergarten. Client "but you just got married" DH "yea, and next week he is going to college!"
True story - really happened.
Nice to see everyone check in and feeling better. And the music is wonderful!
There was more to say but for now my brain is tired.
Thought I would post a quick progress report on the new kitchen counters. They're installed. Now all that's left is backsplash and then painting. Things are finally moving along.
It sounds to me like you want raised beds put in. You can sit on the side and weed to your heart's content.Lilac, that's going to make a lovely coffee table. Love the smell of cedar.
Matt, the counter is lovely. The kitchen is coming along beautifully! After all this it's going to be hard to leave it!
Ah yes, the yard work. I used to love it because I love the flowers and digging in the dirt. Cleaning out the winter debris always makes such a difference. It immediately makes everything look cleaner and loved. It may sound weird, but I enjoy weeding. I'd go out to weed after dinner and nobody would bother me because they didn't want to get roped into helping. And a bonus is that it was a welcome quiet time. Hehehe. The problem is that now my back does not like the activity and my knees aren't thrilled about it either. I figure if I just do a small portion at a time, but we've got so many portions! Lately we've decided that mulch is our friend and lots of pots of flowers look lovely and they can join us on the deck as well as on the ground. We've adjusted our vision of what the outside is supposed to look like and have discovered that change is good!
My newest acquisition from the local flea market. The very nice man who sells these makes them by hand.

Hi Uncle Willie and Little Bird - very nice to see you back on the porch.
Left yesterday for some fishing, got back dinner time today. I must be getting old, this was the best part of the day when we all just kicked back enjoyed lunch and told fish tales.

Luv da aroma of cedar; brings back some fond memories! Beats da moth outta mothballs...
The only piece of furniture my Mom brought with her to the States was her wedding cedar chest!

Me too, Iffy. I grew up on a farm and we would cut our own Christmas trees. Sometimes they were cedar and smelled just wonderful.

a cousin from Temple TX
I am in complete agreement about what the outside should look like. I also have modified my definition of lawn. If it's green, it's lawn. Doree bought some weed and feed the other day and I told her, "hell no, you'll kill the lawn!"Lilac, that's going to make a lovely coffee table. Love the smell of cedar.

Ah, nothing better than good old langusta tails! Practically lived on em when I was stationed in Key West years ago (1980 - 1982).No, Caribbean lobsters; no claws.

I have two of the director's chairs just like that. Gonna get Doree one of the rolling seats. Amoret if you lived just a little bit closer (say 2500 miles or so) I'd be more than glad to come over and lend an occasional hand.I'm still adapting to not being able to garden as much as I used to. But I have come up with ways to do a lot of things. I have a director's chair, with bars across the bottom sides that keep it from sinking, that works for a lot of gardening. It's light enough to move easily but sturdy enough to use the arms for getting up and down.

My other favorite is a rolling scooter with an old fashioned tractor seat on it -- harder to get up and down from, but since it rolls I don't need to get up and down as much. I did have to get a quad cane as a booster lever for that, since my regular cane sinks in the garden soil. My scooter isn't quite as fancy as the one in the picture, but it does have the steering lever. My first one didn't, which removed a lot of the convenience of rolling.

The things I can't do are any kind of shoveling, hole digging or post pounding, since I can't balance doing those. I'm still hoping to find someone to hire to help with those and some inside projects. Liz does help a lot when she's up here, but she can't make it very often - for some reason she has a life of her own, too.
I was hoping to do some raised beds this year, but can't afford it now - maybe next year.![]()
You know I was just thinking, the pictures of buds and babies and such here just makes the place feel more like home. I really like it here and am very, very fond of my extended family. Overall it's a rather comfortable porch isn't it?
OK! It's hot outside, humid too... Maybe I can wait for summertime!
