The rear brim of the hat enters my left temple. Can't be good for blood flow.

About 20 years ago I bought myself such a cat hat, at the NC State Fair I think. Maybe I'll find it when I get around to cleaning my master bedroom, which is currently a store-all junk pile.
Yes, I noticed you played with the picture.
Yes, find that hat, love to see a picture of it. Add something for scale, too. Maybe a yard-stick?

He he - back in my working days - Friday was a big thing - now everyday is Friday so to speak. Or is it Saturday??? :D
YES! When I retired It was a shock since it was because of an unexpected emergency condition on top of a chronic illness. I was still in "working as long as I can" mode & then suddenly I couldn't. It took a year to recover from the illness, & adjust to the idea that I wasn't able to work any longer. I knew I was having problems switching from "I have to keep working & I WILL do it" to "YAY!!!! No more working!". I moved the clock & alarm out of my room entirely. Took the little clock, that I used to stay on time in the mornings, out of my bathroom. Stopped wearing a watch. Took any route to get where I needed to go other than the route I used to drive to work. And threw out all the calendars. It took a long time to stop waking up with a jolt in the mornings thinking I was late for work. I was surprised at that & I'm so over it all now! Now, are you sure it's Friday?

I could not imagine the size of thread if we had all of those conversations on this thread. (LOL). We would have to close the thread every other month. :w00t::lol::thumb:

Not counting our porch numbers dropping due to ECF bans!

I hope my feelings about that aren't a downer. A lot of people remember their high school days fondly, but I'm like: well, I did manage to survive them.

Sometimes I think there are a lot more people who see high school as a wonderful experience in retrospect than who saw it as a wonderful experience at the time. My memories of the struggles and failures are just as clear as my memories of the joys and triumphs.

The best days of my life are today and tomorrow!

Ditto! My best years have occurred twix HS graduation and tomorrow.

Have served on a couple of HS reunion committees. Some committee members just couldn't understand why some local classmates never attend our reunions: "Those were the best years of my life!" I had to remind 'em, maybe the non-attendees weren't as 'fortunate' as others during those years; self somewhat included. What I didn't tell the committee was that some of the non-attendees avoid reunions due to some of those that plan the reunions!

Actually, in retrospect, I wouldn't trade any of my post-HS years for their HS years!

I think most of us tend to gloss over the past, and tend to remember the good times more than the bad. Not that we forget the bad, but those times seem to show up more as "incidents" than as "times." The trials and tribulations leading up to the "incident" become blurred, forgotten. And most of the past is often viewed through those (in)famous rose tinted glasses. (Lined trifocals, in my case  )

Who knows, it may be a survival instinct...

Well said .. my High School years provided me nothing to crow about .. the years of Catholic School, and a very hard German mother had made me painfully shy (yes, I know it's hard to believe, but it is true) .. the only shining light that I had was art and music .. it was particularly tough, since the HS I attended was 90% Hispanic .. we had chainlink and concertina wire before it came into fashion .. you had to learn to adapt, and adapt I did, immersing myself in the Mexican culture with my best friends all being Hispanic .. and, it was a good move, since the Hispanic culture will embrace you as part of the Familia once you find a way to work your way in .. my first real girlfriend was Mexican ..

I don't often think of those days, but some of todays posts took me back .. to this day, my years being close to the Latinos has flavored my feelings toward that culture .. and although it's probably politically incorrect, these folks, for the most part, are hard working, family orientated solid people ..

And you, Willie, are an awesome, gentle, man! These visits are so much fun, everything we have here carries over there in spades. I see Willie caught my Pirate Librarian alter ego. And that was without wine! That was the result of playing with the Google Effects while we were talking. That is so funny! Now I've got to go find a flight to somewhere east of St. Louis so I can play dodge the pool balls while I chase Willie around his pool table in my pink tutu with my mink handcuffs!

I was really hoping for the whip as well .. ;) .. the thing is, The Pirate Librarian is just a personal fetish of mine that I rarely reveal .. however, the Pink Tutu, mink handcuffs and whip are really the shizzle ..

Wow that sounds like me. I worked for the Railroad and was on call 24-7. Everytime the phone rang I thought it was work. It took a long time to stop jumping everytime the phone rang. They had it pounded it to our heads about the operation of trains by a strict set of about 200 pages of rules. I still have dreams that I am running a train and I screw up somehow and dreaming I am going to lose my job. It's crazy.

Then after 2 years of recovery they put me back to work, new job regular hours but anytime you were off they would call you for OT. I'd get home at 11pm and at 2am they would call and ask if I wanted to take a crew to Wenatchee, about a 4 hr drive then 4 hours back. I usually said no but they had me jumping to the phone again. If I took it I would get back about 11am and since I was no longer covered under the Federal Hours of Service law I would have to go to my regular shift at 2pm.

Not at all politically incorrect. We are all children of God (or the Universe, if that's how you roll :)). It's interesting to me that we group folks by country of origin, and then make up stuff to support our view of their "other-ness." Perhaps someday ...

Cue John Lennon :2cool:

Doree and I blew off the movie idea, we'll wait until a couple of weeks goes by and the price comes down. They wanted $10.50 per head for the regular showing. Not 3D or IMAX even. I'm not cheap at all just know that in a couple of weeks it will be down to a little over $7 which in itself is too damn much but at least tolerable. I went online to buy the tickets so we wouldn't have to stand in line and as soon as I said how much they where Doree said forget it we'll wait.

Our local weatherman is having kittens, the first named storm of the year is out there and he thinks it's the most interesting thing since sex. Local station goes into "Storm Mode" whenever there's bad weather and I am truly surprised their not in it already. This local weather dude is really dorky and truly wrapped up I himself. I call him "Never Wrong Lawson."

Personally, I have come to dislike Weatherpeople in general .. they all seem to want to "whip" us into a frenzy, then reassure us that "We are watching out for YOU .. " .. well, first, there is nothing they can do but report, second, weather is not a Sports event, third, I can get all the up to date Weather info I need on line or on phone ..

I have, for sometime, hoped that the Bikini Weather Girl concept would catch on Nationwide .. :)

And then, there are the Half Wits that say .. "Hey Honey, it's a Tornado Alert .. let's pack a lunch, some lawnchairs and the kids up in the SUV and see what we can see .. " .. :nah:
