Home is that place where when you go there, they have to let you in ...

Sorry I've been in and out so much. I got a Reo and am learning all about squonking. And I've been building coils, fast and furious. And experimenting with various BF attys. And back in chemo. All good, but a bit time consuming! :). Anyway, just wanted to pop in and tell all y'all that I appreciate you more than I can say. (((((Porchers)))))

I just put a big post up on the front porch. Thought I'd post it here too as some folks don't hang on the front porch. It's a long read, sorry for being windy.
Your determination is inspiring. My issues seem trivial by comparison. Like everybody else, I'm used to that instant nic kick. With vaping, I feel the nic about five or six minutes into a vape.....but I've continued vaping through it, and it seemed the kick was to hard (ten minutes after I stop my jaw is tight and I feel shaky and a bit queasy). Backed off the milligrams a tiny bit. Weird thing is, I vaped less than usual today at 5mls instead of 6-7. But it's been a hard day. I've wanted an analog a few times today.

@MikeE3:
I didn't find your post to be long-winded at all, but if I had, I could have stopped reading. :)

@seapeach:
Good luck in the continuing struggle. If you slip up, forgive yourself, and if you don't, well that's great too!

Grubs! Probably those darn Japanese beetle grubs! Of course it would help if you have skunks because they like to scratch them up for dinner...
Might be. I'll take a couple of pictures of the patches in the morning and post them. That probably would help with the diagnosis. :) I knew we had somesome gardening experts here that would get to the root of the problem.

:thumb::lol::thumbs::lol: I know you were concerned about this shed situation, glad it is resolved!

Quick update on my insect bites. Got home today and googled Lyme disease. I have come to the conclusion these are tick bites. I know there were reports of ticks at the National Specialty, and I think one got me. Explains 2 bites - one small where it tasted and did not like the spot, then the big bruiser that swelled so bad, hard as a rock, and redness that covered the side of my torso. Although I did not see the tick, perhaps I knocked it off somehow or it just got it's fill of me and fell off by itself. Also explains why it took a few days to react. A spider or such would have caused an immediate reaction, this took about 3 days to really take off.

I can report I am on doxycycline, the recommended antibiotic for Lyme. And that I caught it pretty quickly. So I expect a complete recovery. The big bite is still slightly swollen and hard and very discolored, but no more itch and with time I am sure I will be fine. Saw my nurse friend today and she concurred on all these reported aspects of my condition.

Good news, I think I have decided which puppy will be mine. Both boys have such good aspects it is a hard decision. But I am pretty sure I know who he will be and will be introducing him when he comes home next week.:lol::lol: Sometimes I think Tasha is lonely, so I think she will be pleased with the little whipper snapper! OMG, a puppy! Very excited, but scarey at the same time! I love training my dogs, and a new clean slate will be so much fun! Lots of work, but lots of fun!:blink::banana:

Glad to hear you're feeling better. A new puppy, yay!

Thanks for sharing that Mike. :)

Just be careful with the funnels. You have to leave room for the air to escape as you displace it with your nic. It's tempting to just sit the funnel in the bottle, but you'll suddenly have overflow! I've done that a few times. It's helps not to rest the funnel on the bottle top, just hold it up a bit to let the air in the bottle out.

Good to know, I haven't started diy-ing yet, but I'm accumulating info and this is one of those "never woulda thought of it till after I made a big mess" things I can avoid, thanks for sharing. :)

Sorry to hear about your lawn problems Matt, that stuff can be a real pain in the grass to get squared away. ;)

Probably still a lot better than me on my best day. I don't reload yet so no gun games for me. Really want to get a press and some .357 mag dies for my revolver and .223 dies for my rifle. You are welcome to come to our range here anytime. :thumb:

Well since I spend 8 hr's a day on a Dillion 1050. That's what I'd suggest, unless you just can't drop $1600 in a press or desire to load 1000 to 1500 at a time. ( I do around 4000 a day...ouch in shoulder) This is one of my Provari sitting on top of 7000 45 acp's

Over on the microcoils thread, they are now discussing this study-- Monoamine Oxidase Inhibition Dramatically Increases the Motivation to Self-Administer Nicotine in Rats
Ah, very useful article, thank you. So other stuff in tobacco causes the need for nicotine. Which is why almost all vapers can lower nicotine content over time.

If my experiences writing are any indication, there are also some mood-swings. First there is the fever of being on a roll, obsessed with the creation of my mind. Then, when that fades and I get ready for another phase, there are the doubts, wondering how others are going to receive the baring of the content of my mind and soul, and wondering whether it is all a waste of time and a big gamble. Once it hits my reviewers and they give guidance, suggestions, and reinforcement, those doubts fade away, and the cycle begins again. It is no wonder that writers (other than technical writers) have a reputation of being troubled people, prone to addictions. Writing is in itself an addiction.

Keep at it, and with your determination, you'll find the right combination.....glad you didn't succumb to those analog cravings.

Pictures would help a bit, and hope you get it resolved soon.

We were informed a few days ago that the people in OUR new apartment have given notice for the 6th (this coming Saturday). That supposedly means that we should be able to move in by the 20th.

Almost there!
Aah, that is encouraging news!

Good morning,folks:)
And, a good morning to you, Fran! :)

That's happy news. I hope things stay out track and your move is a smooth one.

Very interesting article. I don't take any MAO inhibitors, but I notice when my doc uped my atypical, I would really hit the analogs hard for a few weeks...it's like I was competing against the meds to stay alert. Probably lots I was addicted to in analogs. I'm determined to hang with it. I have a large group of author friends....we're all nuts ;)

I appreciate the support from you and everyone else. My roller coaster ride isn't a real scary one. Just some minor ups and downs.

MAOI's aren't used much anymore. Too many interactions with foods and side effects. They are dangerous.

Just a thought... Have you tried varying the nic? A bit more complicated, but doable.
I vape at 4-6mg/ml most of the time. But at those times when I get stressed, I vape at 12. My thought is that when you are under stress, you burn up the nic more quickly, so the beneficial effects wear out more.
I have been fortunate in that I don't desire a smoke, but I can see where that would happen.
Interacting with people is a stressor, as is planing or even concentrating hard... A quick puff on a higher nic may prevent any cravings from even starting.

Well, this totally rocks. I was whining about the graham cracker in my DIY yesterday. It had a powerful nose. I let it steep overnight. Now it's double apple, granny smith and red delicious, with just a hint of pastry-like crust. It vapes really good. Loving it!

I put an 18 mg mix in my mini this morning. When I get a craving for the cigarette, I'm going to hit that. I do stress when I'm writing. Every few paragraphs, because I self-edit as I go and it can be frustrating. I'm only a few chapters into this book, so the first draft will take four to six weeks. Maybe a little longer as I am looking at about forty short chapters. Trying to do one a day at about 1200 words. If I could just throw out a rough draft, I wouldn't stress so much....but I'm my own worst critic and I've never been able to do that. Going back to edit a long piece of crap just really doesn't appeal to me.

LOL. Some parts I have cut entirely-- you have no idea how much time I have wasted with ideas/theories which have been discarded. I have tossed whole chapters. Then there are digressions (you already know that I am an expert derailler) and my own flow of thoughts-- I end up moving paragraphs with regularity. On review, I think "why did I miss that?", add a paragraph or comment, and then discover that I already covered that a page later. Nonfiction has its own problems.
