I have had a busy week-- for me. Mass and Bible study on Tuesday. Wednesday, leader of quilting group stopped by to pick up two projects, but I skipped quilting, small church group meeting in the evening. Worked on inventory in church kitchen on Thursday, then separated quilting fabrics from exotics for rummage sale, and ladies' meeting after that. Friday had a makeup quilters group, planned out several tops, then got groceries. Spent the rest of the day setting up dehydrator and freezing beans.

Haven't been doing much yet, but lots of sewing to do. Will probably channel-surf and check in here from time to time.

Happy to Chrome. Nothing to hide.

Unfortunately, I saw the doctor Tuesday, and was sentenced to four more weeks of no weight bearing. And then, presumably, to another week or so showing that I can successfully get around with a walker and stick to only partial weight bearing. Grrrr. In the meantime I was promoted to a cam boot, which seems like torture to me. It's much heavier and more restrictive than the cast was. Not a happy camper.

Thanks for letting us know...sure wish it was better news! We'll get you an extra comfy rocker here on the porch and a cabana boy to wait on you and fan you with palm leaves when you get hot!!!

Yesterday, news broke that Google has been stealth downloading audio listeners onto every computer that runs Chrome

This can be true with any OS/distro. Written or spoken. Folks might want to switch/unplug mic. if concerned. Good post MikeE3.

As BrotherBob said, there is no particular privacy safety with the use of any operating system, whether it's Internet Explorer, Chrome, or any .. the video and audio feed in the Hangouts, or any Web routed service for that matter, is passing thru the server infrastructure of the service you are using .. IOW, Google hosts Hangouts, the video and audio pass thru Google by default .. so no matter what your software is, you can be recorded or listened in on .. not to say you are, but how would you know .. ??

Unplugging your webcam/microphone is the only way to really insure that while you are not "Hanging Out" your system is not able to be remotely accessed and monitored .. I know all this sounds like some sort of dystopian Big Brother scenario, and it is in a way .. but "free" is never really "free" .. Google thrives off information .. it's not the warm and fuzzy World it likes you to think it is .. and neither are any of the other major browsers or search engines ..

Although I believe I'm in pretty good shape nic liquid wise and hardware wise for the time being, I did take a minute and read the article .. I'm in somewhat of a contrarian mood today, so my question is, based on this :

If enacted, the bill would make clear that the FDA Center for Tobacco products cannot require vapor products already on the market to go through a lengthy and potentially multimillion dollar Premarket Tobacco Review application process. This bill would not impact the FDA’s ability to regulate these products, including setting rigorous product and manufacturing standards.

Would this not stymy future R&D to having to get approval on new tech .. ?? And, the wording "This bill would not impact the FDA’s ability to regulate these products" .. does that not seem to mean there is still a fairly large carte blanche FDA stick .. ??

True, but I think most of the law deals with land line phones and cell phones .. the Web traffic, I'm unsure about .. at the minimum, when any video / audio bits and bytes are traveling back and forth, the traffic is being cashed somewhere along the line, probably more than once .. IOW, there is no straight user to user .. so, by default, the info would reside in some server farm somewhere by necessity .. the dude wearing a set of headphones and eyeballing a monitor in real time while a chat takes place is likely a stretch, but the ability to recover a feed after the fact is certainly within the realm of reality ..

We've had a Susan sighting. She just popped into the hangout for a few minutes. She's feeling ok, but still not quite herself. She felt a bit better after the surgery than she's been feeling the last couple days, but that was likely due to anesthesia and meds. Overall she's doing well just not getting on the puter much, trying to keep what time she is on there to writing or more productive things. Very glad she's not smoking, so she doesn't have to go out in the heat.

Also..... ecigexpress is having a 30% off sale I believe tomorrow only for Father's Day, on most things. Planning with my SIL to get some flavors!! yay!

Hope all the Fathers have a wonderful day tomorrow. There are some of us for whom it's a bit of a sad day, my dad has been gone a long time....I pray you have a wonderful day of much beauty and peace!!
