I knew it started with a 'C' ...and thanks for clearing that up. :) Makes sense.

And thanks for gettin' me worked up about the dragon coil. :p

Clapton coil. As in Eric Clapton since it uses guitar string. I really like rick trippers dragon coil in my drippers.

Ah... Easy fix for you from the tool guys of the world!
Wrap the wire in the same direction that the screw tightens in, and it will snug in instead of squirming out!
Usually wrap clockwise instead of counter.

OOOOHHHHH...........ya' beat me to it. Same as rewiring electrical sockets. :p

See? every time I get an answer it raises more questions. I promise I'll have these answers for noobs before long!

Imagine a circle and you know everything within it...then you need to learn everything on the outer edges. As the circle gets bigger the more you need to learn ( the circumference gets bigger and bigger). :D

...when I get the Zmax, the ohm level may change. For now, I prefer 2.2.

CORRECT!
Or maybe not. :) One thing is for sure though, you will have options! :toast:

Thank you all! I'm not going to answer individually because my brain has now turned to oatmeal.

My rebuilding will start with the protank heads because I have 6 glassos that use them.

I do not own a drill biut, but do have a 16g needle tip.

I already have an ohm checker in my cart along with an RDA and all the other stuff, Zmax etc. I do plan to buy a RBA before long, as I want to have one, just in case. But with 6 glassos that I can rebuild, it's not a necessity for now and may not be for a long time, but I'll have it anyway. Kinda like the mech mod.

Now to add more STUFF to the cart..................

Oh, Grimmgreen's video on rebuilding the protank is a COMEDY! Not an instructional video. He cracked me up, but I didn't learn much only because he had no idea what he was doing. The other vids I watched were much better for learning, but not near as fun.;)

I promise once you get the hang of it the whole rebuilding thing is not nearly as confusing as it looks to you right now.

A tip with the protanks.

I wrap the coil on my needle and LEAVE THE NEEDLE IN IT.
Then when I set the coil in the head the needle keeps me from yanking the coil too far down into the base while I lock the coil legs in place.
Once the legs are locked in place I pull the needle.

Also I recoil a whole stack of protank heads at once assembly line style. Just goes quicker once you have the rhythm of it.

I would look like some kind of rapper wannabe if I had my current setup of the MVP and Russian 91% hanging from my neck. Lol.

You may feel that way, but I love my lanyard, mod clamp and mod combo. No dropping of mods!

Well, it won't take me anywhere when I click on this link, maybe not enough posts or something?
nope. Not your post count

I for one have learned a ton of stuff this afternoon reading all the posts about coiling without the ratchet-jawing in between. Thanks to all who asked and all who answered. Also watching golf and the golfers who have the "yips" about their golf strokes. I've had the "yips" about rebuilding for a while now but there is every possibility that I will be able to do it now. :D

Go for it and ask us questions as needed. Good luck.

The thing that's not easily doable regarding the quoting of posts is to quote a quote that was quoted by the person you're quoting.

That's due to the way this particular forum is set up. In some forums, when you quote a post that has quoted another post, you'll capture the whole thing. In this forum, though, everything is stripped except for the words of the particular person whose post you're quoting.

I hope that's clearer than mud but it might not be.

Makes perfect sense to me. It is irksome when you want to carry the quote within a post forward. I'm with ya!

Kind of off the current topic but here's an interesting look at e-cigs from a doctor's (of pshycology) viewpoint.

Electronic cigarettes: What we know so far - YouTube

OK I kind of skipped from 'point to point' to get through it. But it was a pretty fair discussion of e-cigs. Liked her summary

Nicotine in and of it self is not bad for you
Vaping is much, much less harmful than smoking
Vaping is way more successful to get off cigarettes than any other method and isn't that a good thing

Ok I paraphrased a bit but basically that's some of her key summary points.

The part I'm not understanding, is what makes a coil a micro? Do you only use cotton with a micro? Not with a reg coil?

I've seen different videos that say "do not let the coils touch each other" then another one that has him squeezing the coil together and torching to make them stick together. Why is that? Is one a micro and the other one not? Is the touching what makes the difference?

I'm trying to figure out WHY I would WANT to make a micro or not. I understand the idea of rebuilding and don't think I'll have any problem doing so. It's the reg/micro differences I don't understand. And the WHY or WHY NOT.

Lot of good info given to you.

Like any DIYing - take notes and record your results. After a while it'll become 2nd nature but when starting out it will be handy to look back and say with this wire gauge, wrapped around this 'thing, gave me 'these' results.

Well, it won't take me anywhere when I click on this link, maybe not enough posts or something?

Didn't work for me either Deb.

One more and I'm done I feel I need to show side shot.

You shouldn't have posted those pictures - now I want to know if you take on side jobs. I've got a couple-few RBAs that need re-coiling, I can send them to you. Seriously nice photo's and a really nice coil in the kayfun.
