Thanks. I'm amazed how Rip packs more info into a 7:35 video than others do in a 30:00 video. I won't name names, but "can I taste your joose?", lol.

I may be the only person in existence who likes both reviewers. My chief complaint about Rip is that EVERYTHING he builds is the best thing ever. There's no actual theory or principles on why any of his builds are better or worse than any other of his builds. When Phil does a review, he really tries to dig into what's going on, so that you can learn principles from it. But, Rip definitely has better pacing and is more "fun" to watch, if you dig the whole hillbilly vibe (I lived in Florida and Georgia for several years, so it works for me).

I recently watched some videos from Rip & Phil.
Is the Rip guys personality ah genuine or is he acting it up ? I am aware of "hillbilly" but mostly from tv and kangaroos don't actually hop down the streets in the Suburbs of Australia. Ok yes they can do and some people have them but they are not like dogs.
Phil seems ok one of his videos he was going into something about mean hit and he pulled up a graph , though he doesn't seem to review clones from what i could find.

WELCOME, Ginger.

Wolf-- many of the reviewers receive free merchandise for the service of the review. Especially the ones with higher hit-rates.

If they keep it impartial its fair. I usually can read between the lines if a persons comments are genuine or sometimes to me i can see a problem maybe more of an impact for me but the reviewer may put it as "subjective"

We'll have to get you started on DIY liquid after we get your Kayfun set up well :) The liquid I'm vaping right now costs about 6 cents/ml to make.

Hi All,

Just wanted to introduce myself and stop by to say hello. My name is Ginger and I smoked for about 47 years. Although I was a light smoker (3 - 4 a day) I knew it was time to give it up. Although I've had a puff or two along the way, haven't really had a cigarettes for 1 year come December. Vaping is just great!
Would love to join you Vapers on the Front Porch....anyone from New Jersey by the way?

Welcome Ginger. Pull up a chair and join us on the vaping journey. Always room for one more.

This fine print is a not so subtle reminder to always read the fine print before signing anything.

This is just my opinion, but I think Phil is more likely to keep it impartial than Rip. Either Rip genuinely likes almost everything, which is possible, or he lets the fact that he likes free stuff bias his reviews. Basically, I like Rip for his coil build tutorials, but I don't really trust his judgement on anything.

I briefly looked into a couple of times.
Flavour and nic if you want then I think a base pg/vg.
Then mixing ratios and rubber gloves and more came up.
Then i thought hmm lets go look at some attys and mods.
I'm thinking it would help to find a place that can ship to me good flavourings.
The liquids I'm using atm to get rid of well taste like I'd imagine nail polish remover to taste like. That chemical taste.

Hi Ginger, welcome to the porch! :) They usually quit the third degree around four days in so don't worry. Congratulations on the quitting. We just love quitters! Oh, and I'm on the other coast, so not NJ.

Thats also my opinion. Though I do wonder if Phil doesn't review clones - well no videos that i could find- to not get on the wrong side of companies that send him products. Just saying not judging and clones seem to be a popular choice for many people, even those that have the money to buy any product of their choosing.

I imagine shipping to Australia is a real challenge. I've been mainly using The Flavor Apprentice flavors, because some of their flavors are highly rated, and they're dirt cheap when you buy them in bulk (around $8/120ml, plus or minus depending on the flavor). That's enough flavor to make over a liter of liquid for most of them. Then, you can get a liter of 100 mg/mil nic base for $50, and a gallon of PG and VG for around $20 each, and you're basically set for several years. You do have to buy a fair amount of glassware when you're starting out. Lots of amber bottles of various sizes (around $1 each, on average), syringes, 18 gauge needles, a graduated cylinder is helpful for larger batches, a few funnels, maybe a few beakers or jars. I started out wearing rubber gloves, but then I did the math and realized that if I got a little nic solution on my hands, it wasn't going to kill me, so now I don't bother with those and just wash them off immediately every time I finish with the nic solution (even if I haven't actually gotten any on my hands, as far as I know). I think if you can mix up a batch of Kool Aid that doesn't taste bad, you can probably make your own liquid. You can always make minor adjustments for taste after you've made the batch (I generally mix the flavors in weak to start with, and then add a little more to the batch later on if I feel like I need it). Just write everything down, so that you can recreate the recipe (with modifications) when you find something you like!

Not everything is to that extreme though there are many that are or at a lot more than they should be.
Point is people want to feel they are getting value or they are paying extra for a reason that is justifiable or that is valid to them.

Once you get set up you should like doing DIY. You don't need a rubber suit to do it, they just like to be cautious. Don't let it scare you off. I think most of us here are at least part time DIYers.

I think you might be on to something, there. A lot of manufacturers would probably get upset if Phil reviewed clones regularly. If you want good clone comparisons, check out vapingwithtwisted420. I won't link to any of his videos, because I got an infraction (actually, a warning) for posting a link to one of his videos here (he uses "adult" language).

So far its been ok. Some will ship others won't and sometimes they want too much. $12-16 has been the average cost so far.
Most Ive got sent in one package was around six 30ml bottles.

When i search The Flavor Apprentice flavors it comes up with https://shop.perfumersapprentice.com/c-108-the-flavor-apprentice-world-of-flavors.aspx
is that right ?

Yes, that's right. TFA tries to keep low key. They mainly sell to ejuice vendors rather than the general public, so they don't try to promote their brand. But, they're happy to sell directly to us. Get registered, and then activate your account for bulk purchases (it's an easy process), and you can start buying in 4oz (120ml) sizes or larger. That's when the cost per ml really starts to go down.
