Of course you're all right. I know nic doesn't actually freeze…if i think about it. But I'm so frazzled from the last 24 hours. I just needed some sane, calm porchers to remind me. Thanks guys.

I'm sure you'll get your power back soon. You'll feel better then.

It saddens me to see that Randall's (txtumbleweed) legacy and intent of the front porch thread, started 4 1/2 years ago has been changed into something different.

***********************************************************************************************************

"I thought I would start a thread mostly for older folks but everyone is welcome. It is primarily to help longtime smokers to get off cigarettes and stay off by sharing our vaping experiences. Most everyone reading this has already started vaping so our goal is to support one another and help those beginning the vaping journey.

I have been vaping 2 1/2 years after smoking off and on for 60 years. I inhaled my first cigarette at 10 and by the time I was 15 I was smoking a pack a day. I've struggled with quitting smoking for 30 years and discovering the e-cig and vaping has been a life saver for me. I was diagnosed with COPD about seven years ago and my health was deteriorating rather quickly with loss of breath and coughing continuously. Since I started vaping my health has improved tremendously so that is why I'm so adamant about helping others make the same decision.

I have been vaping for 2 1/2 years but I'm far from an expert on vaping equipment but I have tried mostdevices or similar ones out there so I do have an opinion on most of them. We are all different when it comes to vaping and one thing doesn't work for all in fact very few of us will settle on using the same juices and PV's. That is what makes having a thread that we can discuss all e-cig related stuff without arguing about what is best is a good thing.

I have found that most of us older folks and long time smokers like the no muss no fuss PV's especially in the beginning. We would like to hear all of your stories and vaping experiences and what devices you started with and your journey to what you use now.

Us older folks do like to socialize along with our vaping but we need to keep this thread mostly about vaping or it will be moved to a social forum. We do have another thread in the Lounge Forum that is both social and vaping related. txtumbleweed, May 21, 2012"

Thanks for the reminder Yiddle ... I've been traveling a lot and not keeping up w/ the porches as much as I usually do. I too noticed a lot of 'non vaping' posts on the front porch. I was just giving it time (maybe too much) to run it's course and get back to vaping topics on the Front Porch and keep our non-vape chat on the Back Porch.

I think they were married, in a regulated mod, but I can't swear to it. I'm guessing there's a thing to learn, here. Share, please?

In a mech, there's nothing to "turn off" the output when the battery voltage goes low. In regulated mods, there is circuitry that will prevent firing if the input voltage (battery) gets below a preset value, typically 3.2 - 3.4.

Hmmm ... I've taken to removing batts from any of my regulated mods that are not being used regularly. Even though the 'board' will detect low batt (3.2-3.4 volts) and not fire. The 'board' will continue to slowly drain the battery checking on the batts status. I've had batts go as low as 2.1 to 2.8 volts in an abandoned regulated mod w/ the batt still in it. Even happened with one of my Provari 2.5's once.

I am confused & will look around for another board as to not trample this one.

@kross8 - No, no, no ... don't leave the porches. I think a couple-few people have mentioned that the intent of the front porch is vaping topics and everything else should be talked about on the back porch. That's all ... you'll really be missed if you leave us. Please don't go.

@3mg Meniere, thanks. Could have been counterfeit. My bet, though, is that @englishmick was spot on with his description of the Segelei issue. Regardless, those batts went to the great batt recycling center!

@kross8, as my Nana used to say, Dinna fash yourself. We all go off (vaping) topic, now and again. Some of us don't hang on the BP, and appreciate the random update on folks' joys and challenges. While I never knew Tex, I read all of the first two porch threads. His posts suggest he was a kind, generous and understanding man. I can only surmise that he would have approved -- and then gently nudged us back on topic. We can all try to do that, in his stead. :)

@seminolewind, :lol:! Yup!

For all: Does no one have any suggestions on my dry-tasting juice dilemma? Ima have to ditch this juice, or break it up into 4 small bottles!

Akchooley the only mod it happens to with me is the provari. All of them. I believe they're noted for that.

The reason we make such a fuss about keeping the Front Porch vape related is that, if we don't, it will get moved to the Lounge where new vapers will never see it. That's what happened with the original Porch. We want one of the Porches to stay visible to new members.

Nope. Sorry. Just have no idea.

Although I would love to hear the answer to the question. Crossing my fingers.

Does anyone know what gives juice a "wet" taste? My almond cheesecake tastes dry. Gogleeygooglefu said EM, marshmallow, distilled water and sterile saline -- in small quantities -- are the answer. Before I try any of these, I'd love to hear from our DIY experts. TIA!

I'm sure you've said before, but, what are your PG/VG percentages? Maybe make your recipe in higher VG? I can't vape higher VG because it seems too wet to me. :)

Hope you get it worked out. :)

that's a good idea. I can't vape high vg either. Make my juice 75pg.

Hang in there. Storms always pass .... that's the nature of storms.
Unless it is Steven Kings!

This is just a guess, it may be too much flavor. I had a batch that had a dry perfume taste. I diluted it and it was fine.
@kross8 please don't leave, your input is valuable.

David, I don't quite get how a battery would drain to nada in a mech if it isn't being fired. What am I missing? (Foggy bird brain here, this morning!)

In theory it shouldn't, but with a mech there's always the chance of, uh, spacing out and vaping it too low, trying to get that last drip!

I need advice. The hurricane knocked our electricity out yesterday at 3:30pm.

Just don't open it unless it's come up to room temp. Of course, you probably weren't going to vape it all in a blackout, but good to remember for when you do pull a jug out for use!

Hmmm ... I've taken to removing batts from any of my regulated mods that are not being used regularly. Even though the 'board' will detect low batt (3.2-3.4 volts) and not fire. Yeah, good point Mike. Didn't occur to me, since the way I vape, if a mod has a battery in it, it's in use. Some mods - the few with decent manuals! - even list the current draw for "standby" conditions.

For all: Does no one have any suggestions on my dry-tasting juice dilemma? Ima have to ditch this juice, or break it up into 4 small bottles!

Maybe do that, or even more small bottles, and make adjustments to each? Start by diluting one to see if it's just an overpowering taste? Adjust relative percents on the others to try to pin it down?

I seem to get a drier vape when I end up with higher vg mixes.

That one caught my eye. Dinna fash is something we would say where I grew up in the north of England by the Scottish border. Was your Nana from over there?

As to da FP/BP very recent 'drama', it's an old and ongoing 'challenge'. Many of us on da porches have been/are/will be 'guilty' of 'straying'.

Since our 'tex' was invoked in the issue, I'll go as far as to say that I think he would be quite disappointed in any discouragement for our new porchers from learning, contributing and becoming cherished members of our porch family!

He was a gentle, caring and patient soul that brought many of us here together. In appreciation of his efforts, we also should gently 'guide' each other to the proper porch without any chance of 'guilt' or misunderstandings!

With that said, we do have one hellava gathering here that I ever so much love and appreciate!

Thank ya'll fer bein' you...

I need advice. The hurricane knocked our electricity out yesterday at 3:30pm. Still out. We put a coupler big bags if ice in the freezer and the ice is still frozen but foods are now somewhat soft. I'm not too concerned about them - they are veggies and fruit. What I'm starting to worry about is my nic. It is totally surrounded by all the ice & semi-frozen food but what do I do if we dont get power back soon? No one on my street had power but one street over they do. Would it be better to go get another bag of ice and put it & the nic in a cooler or leave it in the freezer? And for how long?
IMO I think it will be fine. I have to take mine out to let it get to room temp. I only have 3 100ml bottles that I store nic in for use. The rest is in liter bottles so I have to let it get to room temp since my nic is in a 50/50 solution then I can shake it up real good and fill my 300mls and seal it back up and put it back in the freezer. But I have kept a bottle 100ml at room temp for a month and it is just fine. I try to keep it refrigerated the one I am using from but a lot of times I forget (no not me). Too many other things to worry about. Just keep it in a dark place and sealed should be good for a couple of months. Hopefully your power will be on before that,

@LittleBird this is probly a dumb idea but have you taken a sniff of your VG and PG make sure it doesn't smell like acetone. Mine didn't make it dry but it had a weird taste which I thought was my plastic bottles or my atty. Just something to check. I really don't have a clue it has never happened to me. Does any of your flavoring have alcohol another dumb idea I've never had flavoring with alcohol I don't think but who knows with this Russian stuff they could've spilled the Wodka in.

Well I tried another Liquid Barn flavor called Blue Raspberry and some of you might like it, it's not really for me because I don't care for candy flavors and that is what it tastes like to me hard raspberry candy. I did find out the recommended amount of 6% was way too much 3% is better but like I say I don't care for candy flavors. It has a really strong raspberry taste but like I say like candy. Will give another a try soon.
