So, FT lowered their discount from 20% to 15%. :nah: It's still a discount and I'm going for it but they should have honored their original offer.

ProVape is barely limping along. Seems they are down to nine mods/colors total. it is sad to watch an American company fold without so much as a whimper. I am not anywhere near so sad for me/us as for their workers.

Where the hell is Deb, among many others?

those darn beetles eh? I have friends that love to camp in the Sierra Nevada's and they posted pics of what those pesky beetles have done. I used to go to church camp at Hume Lake and I believe they hit that area too

Yes, can't see how they aren't being hit by it. That is south of us and I'm not sure what severity of drought they were in but I doubt it's much less than us. Not a great picture but representative of us here.

"Our" lot would look like the big brown patch, luck of the draw at the moment. We have over 100 dead trees, less than 10 over 10' surviving. On the other hand, when they fall or are cut down, we'll have one heck of a view of the heavens with no light pollution to obscure it.

After six days of rain the sun is shining today and no dark clouds in sight. The weeds are flourishing on the hillside and the dog is happy because his walks are back on schedule. The weeds help with erosion however in the spring the city will send out weed abatement notices to clear weeds and brush to prevent brush fires.

CDF has harassed us too. I tell them the brush, away from the house is, truthfully, cover/forage for the wildlife and we're not clearing it, period, end of discussion. They complain about an abandoned shed surrounded by brush. Tell them we don't care if the shed burns, a bunch of rabbits have a home under it and the brush will not be removed. They (CDF, aka Cal Fire) are good with it. :thumb:

If you aren't home when they survey the property, have them come out and explain why you aren't doing whatever and agree to the consequences. I was a firefighter in the USFS and thought our local CDF guys were some of the laziest I'd ever seen. In other locations they rocked. Anyway, face-to-face communications may help.

Oh, I agree with the erosion assessment. Some idiot(s) came in while we were out of state and trenched a culvert outlet without permission which is now causing erosion problems.

I am watching kookaburras and black cockatoos and somewhere there is a koala grunting. :p

@Krisma, welcome to the porch! I really like your view from there and hope you bring your wildlife friends on over here, we love wildlife!

Jup, do avoid Iffy's cushions at all costs. :)

(Ever going to post here again Iffy? I miss you terribly.)

Getting back to the Front Porch vaping topic, I got the scale I ordered for mixing. Now I'm tied up for a few days. Errands tomorrow, infusion & steroids Thursday, & house/pet sitting Frida - Sunday am. Mixing is gonna have to wait till next week.

Jup. If you hit the right flaver... no suffering required!
flavor never was the kicker for me. I had to go back up to 24mg nic before I quit having bad cravings. there were a lot of flavors I liked, but I needed that higher nic.

I would say the hardest part to get past was missing the TH.
Jup this too. Was hard getting enough TH.

So if it sux does that mean you need more flavor? Or less? Does it need to steep? Or not?
Royal PITA.
or just find recipes from other folks who are really good at it! :D

Gary, I'm so glad you quit. The idiots at the FDA should hear you story before they make their stupid decisions.
JUP!

That is bizarre. I seemed to fall somewhere behind the curve in "recovering" but the changes were pretty dramatic nonetheless.
I have never really noticed any change in smell or taste coming back

NETs are easy to produce
I know what NET and WTA stand for.......but I've never really known the diff between the two. If you're using whole tobacco to make a net, it would seem that they would be very similar. Are they?

OK! Always love to share pics of my fav guy.

I'm not a cat person......but that's adorable! have seen ya on the porches before, but will welcome ya back.

On a major cleaning and purging roll this weekend. It is amazing what you think you need to keep UNTIL you know you will have to pack and move it. Did both bathroom closets and under sinks and only one small shelf in the garage. Filled the whole outside trash up already so now I will have to wait until next weekend to do more. :w00t: Happy I got started!
don't envy you moving at all. That is a rough job.

I turned 5 today on ECF
yay!!!

Woke up to find the tops of three 100'+ trees had snapped off and fallen down the hill. A 30-40' chunk went close to the berry bushes. If it had snapped in the direction the wind was blowing, it would have gone through the roof and seriously injured or killed us. Most likely killed us.
oh wow.....so glad y'alls guardian angels were on double duty!

I just injured my left wrist, my vaping arm, scrubbing a hummer feeder with a toothbrush.
uhmmmmmm didn't we just discuss you and no more injuries?????

Speaking of Jup, where is Deb? She okay?
she is. Been in a lot of pain and it's made me somewhat anti social. Sorry I worried ya.

Hey there fine folks on the porch. Can I just rest in an easy chairs and watch the sun come up.
((((((xx)))))))) good to see ya sweetie. You can hang out anytime.

kewl beans! It's a really great scale. I haven't done a lot of mixing by weight, but mostly cuz I need to get some more squeezy bottles. No sense doing it by weight if I have to use a syringe to deposit the liquids into the bottles.

So sorry Deb, hard to do "normal" things when pain hits. I know what you mean cause when mine flates up I'm not too social either. I hope it goes away soon.

Haven't been able to get out of the driveway for a week!

At least I'm not running low on vape supplies.

Vaping wise, think I'm nearin' da point where I'll need sum mo' 18650 batts. Several of my ol' ones aren't lastin' as long. Can't complain in dat they're several years old.

    Good question. I don't either.

No, NETs and WTA are distinctly different. NETs is basically just extracting the 'flavor' from the tobaco leaves then mixing it w/ nicotine. The NET process doesn't extract nicotine to any appreciable amount.

The WTA process extracts the minor alkaloids (google MAOIs) hence the name whole tobacco alkaloids Then mixed with nicotine and your favorite flavor. Some research points to the MAIOs being the major 'addictive' factor for some smokers. For these folks nicotine only does not satisfy their craving.

As 3mg said, yes, in the Sierra Nevadas in an area of exceptional drought or whatever they call the worst drought level. It's an ecological disaster with millions and millions (as of now, probably over 30 million) of dead trees. With them go much of the wildlife I adore and the vegetation, seeds, berries and insects they thrived on. It's gut-wrenching at a minimum.
You paint a very bleak picture. And a very sad one.

As an example, I'll spare you all most of the details, we usually walk every night just after dark so we can see satellites, meteors, the stars, whatever. The local bats stared flying along with us two years . They'd squeak and I'd whistle back. As the trees died,so did the moth population. Now the bats are gone and there is no one to whistle to.
I remember you telling us about the bats accompanying you on your walks. So sorry!

I so miss being in the country and seeing the stars!

It is scary. Oaks are nothing to mess with. I have a friend, FS worker, who went out to do a survey and parked his rig under an oak while he did his work. Hot sunny day with no wind. When he came, the tree had collapsed and the truck was about eight inches tall. A lot of paperwork involved but at least no one was killed that time. He wasn't a smoker or vaper. Oh wait. :(
Hot sunny day with no wind?! Scary! But, glad he wasn't hurt.

Can you just use your other arm for now?

Is this the first time you've been here? I see you in so many other threads that I didn't realize.

Constant pain is such a hard thing to deal with. Even the medicine to alleviate the pain can be a challenge. But, you obviously don't let it steal all the joy from your life. Good on you, Deb.

She is inland in California, and their drought has finally broken. Only gets online once a day late in the evening because of poor internet service.

Okay, that sucks. I'm still kinda out of the loop with these old timers ;).

    Kudos to you!

Thanks NotSo. I feel pretty triumphant. I'm at least half as old as ECF :thumb:.

I'm sure it's beautiful, otherwise, you wouldn't live there.

I just brewed a clone ale named after your mountains, though, I know the real thing is actually brewed in Chico. California can be tough, I lived in SF for several years; even during the BIG ONE.

The flamingo made me think you lived way closer.

    Stay safe. LU Tutu!
