About this time in past years I would be getting sad thinking that I would only have 5 more weeks till it was back to lesson plans and teacher meetings!
Now my biggest plans are what to make for dinner and how I am going to get to the Xbox before Mr. Chili!
And vaping of course

I ordered a 100' roll of 30 guage stainless. They sent me 250' feet instead.
kewl!

I started vaping to cut down on the number of cigarettes I smoked, 2 1/2 packs a day. I can say I have been cig free for over 2 years and 4 months. Like I said, I didn't plan on quitting but after vaping for a while I didn't see a need to go around stinking from the cigs or any of the other maladies.
that's great!

Lol! I got 2 of the 250 rolls! I think in terms of forevah!

Jup same here. I was and am certain I'll never go back to kanthal, and don't see me trying other wires besides the SS316L, so got 250' of both gauges. I thought I would use more 28g, but am finding myself using the 26g more now with the O16. I did use 28g when I did dual coils in the derringer, which was what I was using when I bought the wire.

I love retirement, just wish I could do more with it. I'm working on that tho!

What's retirement? Being self employed and owning our own business, don't see it happening, at least not any time soon. 2 more years to Medicare for me will help, but hubby is younger and we make most of our products ourselves.

Sigh :yawn::confused:

Sweet Cathy,

I do hope you and your hubby can see da 'light' at da end of da tunnel!

Gotta say though, do wish I could have had 'controlled' my own financial survival/future based upon my own gumption/confidence/creativity. Fortunately, I made a few 'reasonable' good choices dat has allowed/nurtured/educated a wonderful family, with bright futures in a self perceived deteriorating times.

I respect/envy dose dat 'do their own thing' and still endure! IOW, keep kickin' azz...

Said it before, I truly believe dat I'm one of da lucky ones dat has lived in our most prosperous generation ever. Just hope there is a brighter future fer our progeny, down da road...

Will say dat my kids are more prepped dan dis ol' phart...

I remember the same thing for 30 years. It's already been 13 years since I retired from teaching when I was 51. Funny though...each year since then has always flown by WAY faster than any year while I was teaching! I dearly loved teaching though and still miss working with the kids.

However, I do love being able to do 2 things when I want to and/or need to, that only another teacher can appreciate:

(1) to eat lunch when I'm hungry, instead of anywhere from 10:30AM-1:30PM depending on when my grade level was scheduled to eat ;)

(2) more importantly, to go to the restroom when I need to...without first having to find another staff member to cover my class so I could go

Soooooo true! Luckily the restroom was right across the hall from my classroom for the last ten years!

I know the feeling. I've been on Medicare for a couple of years now but my wife has 3 years to go. Trouble is her work doesn't do medical so she is on the ACA exchange. If the Trumpies glorious dream comes true we would be done for. She has some expensive health care needs.

I did retire for 4 months last year. That's how long it took me to get bored with gardening and computer games and go back to work. Actually today is the anniversary of my new job. Only 4 days a week but I quite enjoy it and the money is nice. Wrestling with machinery keeps you fit as well as letting you buy completely unnecessary vaping gear. I looked forward to retiring until it happened, now I kind of dread it.

How much can we spend for you? :)

I'm waiting for suggestions, since I don't actually need anything. As long as it comes with a tracking number. I just got a couple of Provari rings from Crème De Vape in the UK. They arrived in 7 days which is pretty impressive, but no tracking so it no fun.

Hope it works out for you somehow.

Unfortunately there are a lot of obstacles to getting a job when you're older. Depends on where you live, whether there's a labor shortage in your line of work, medical insurance costs, etc. I guess if you're an astronomer you can work until you're 90.

Welcome to the thread!

It IS discouraging. Whatever happened to value-ing older workers' experience and work ethic (the latter is sorely lacking overall in the younger crowd IMO…apologies to any young members here).

Welcome back! It's been a long time!

I really, really hope my brother's business stabilizes and gets better! Then I can keep my job up into my 70s!
