My 20w bit the dust when itvs threading stripped. I have a couple of 30w [emoji7], & a couple of 50w. One 50w stopped working right. I'd stored it for a few months & pulled it out to use & it wouldn't fire. Tapped it on the desk, & it worked. Turned it off, it sat a few, picked it up to use. No bueno. Tapped it again, & it fired. No clue, so it's going away. The second 50w that I use a lot I just caught autofiring & reducing power after I just put an atty on it. Took the atty off because I couldn't get it to turn off. It hit auto cut off before I could get the atty off. Now it seems fine.

Oh my ... I had a faulty istick 50 that would auto fire. Just sitting on the table next to me it would turn on .... time out turn off ... turn on again ... time out turn off ... turn on again ... etc, etc. I had to leave the atty off of it or risk it blowing itself up. I did get a replacement but I don't use it much and never store it w/ an atty on it. There were many reported problems of this when they first hit the market.

Might also just be a stiff insulator on the mod's floating pin, so it sticks down and doesn't make a good connection. A gentle tap can tighten or loosen finger tight connections, making it's firing erratic. Maybe :)

Auto-fire is a bad thing, bad!

yep could be, whatever is causing it is intermittent and sometimes it makes connection and sometimes it doesn't.... Could be anywhere in the system.

I have an iStick 30W, 2 iStick 40W and an iStick50W. All of them work fine with the possible exception of the 50W, which I may have caught auto-firing a time or three. I think the 40W iSticks might have been the best mods that ELeaf ever made. I either need to use them more or get them into the hands of someone who will.

The Chinese seller of the defective HCigar VT167 that I bought has gotten back to me and asked me to make a video showing the problem. I reckon I can do that.

I've been using the same tanks exclusively for a little over 2 years now: the Kanger Subtank Plus. Being a wild and crazy guy, I just ordered a pair of SMOK TFV8 Cloud Beast tanks. The main advantage to me would be that they're top-fill, but if they're less leak-prone than the Subtank Plus tanks, that would be an advantage too.
That will be an experience for you, just watch your nic levels or your gonna be buzzin on that TFV8. That's like going from driving a family Saloon to a sports car lol.

If you've used both tanks I'll take your advice seriously, but buzzin' ain't hardly a possibility with me. I've been around the block a time or three, and it ain't gonna happen. I'm using 13 mg/ml DIY nic mixes these days, down from 36 mg/ml when I started 4.5 years ago. If there are too many clouds with the TFV8, I'll reduce the wattage until it's to my liking, but a bunch of puffs of heavy clouds aren't going to phase me; they never have. The Kanger Subtank is a pretty capable piece of apparatus; it does have somewhat of a tendency to leak; not always, but often enough to be a PITA. I've got 3 Kanger Subtanks; presently, two of them are not leaking at all and the third one is leaking a tad. 14 watts on all three, with resistances ranging from 0.60 to 0.68 ohms using pre-built OCC Kanthal coils.

Ok cool, I just meant in general terms that people using a subtank usually vape a higher nic level, in the TFV8, even 3mg can make you feel weird in that tank. To get it to perform though, those coils need the higher wattage and it has way way more airflow than the Kanger. Could be worse, you could of said the TFV12 haha, it's just a big jump up that's all.

I had a massive nic rush using 3mg, I had to go to bed, lowering it down to 1.5mg did the trick.

If you can get on with the airflow ect, I'd suggest the RBA section, that works really well in that tank.

If you build your own though, I'd suggest a Serpent SMM over that kind of tank any day.

A 4 ml capacity tank requires refilling too often for my tastes. The Kanger Subtank Plus holds 7 ml, so I'll be downgrading in that respect with the Smok TFV8, but it holds something like 6 ml. I seldom use the Kanger Subtank in the largest airflow position, but I'll let you know if the least possible airflow with the TFV8 exceeds the greatest possible airflow with the Subtank. The chances of it blowing me away are not enough to worry about.

Have you used the Kanger Subtank a lot? I've used it with both pre-made single and double coils, and with home-made single coils. I believe the TFV8 RBA deck is designed for dual coils, which will be a new building experience for me.

I just don't feel the TFV8 was designed for the airflow to be restricted and to get any flavor the wattage has to be ramped up, this will give you a very hot vape. The nature of the coils just do not perform at lower wattage.
The RBA is dual but you could run some single wire in them but again, I'm not sure how it will perform.

The TFV8 is a high wattage, clouds bro clouds tank, vaped wide open, massive lung hits, that's just how it is.

The Serpent SMM is a flavor tank, it's amazing, I don't mind sacrificing 3ml less.

If capacity is an issue then maybe the Ammit 25 with the extension chimney fitted for a 6ml capacity would be more suited.

Well I left it overnight beside me, & the atty leaked all it's juice all over the mod & into a puddle on the table. [emoji35]

That's what my first auto-firing '50' did. It was firing so much the atty was hot and there was juice all over.
