Yep, after our little converse I watched them closer and you were right - the old ones are slower.

Always nice to know it's not in my head. ;) I'm on the fence about replacement this year. Most are from RTD so should have been "new," vs sitting in a warehouse for a year or two, and should be good for another year. Decisions, decisions.

So, now that I'm actually forty, do I get special membership status in this thread or something? :2cool:

I generally swap in a fresh battery whenever I fill/re-fill a tank. Being a low-power tootler, and since most everything I use on top is the same, if a freshly charged one won't vape the whole tank, it's time to retire it. At the setting I vape, current is never more than about 2.5 amps, so age degradation of the CDR isn't much of an issue for me. For those who vape at higher power levels it IS something to be concerned about!

I'm in this situation myself. I usually just replace them annually. I've been around rechargeable since the old NiCad days and while I've been lucky enough to never see a vent I've seen old batteries do damage to equipment. Spending <$10 apiece for a handful of new ones is good insurance. To me batteries are like car tires, don't go cheap and replace them before they need it.

Some of mine are 2.5 years old. Some are 1.5 . Time to start letting them go I guess. The older ones are for single batt mods & I only have one of those now.

No, no, no, no, no! I use a lot of different kinds of batteries. To replace them every year would cost a fortune!

Replacement really depends upon how much stress and use you put them through. And of course your recharge discipline. Being a low voltage vaper and my regular recharge schedule - mine seem to last a long time, but as I have said before - the slightest sign of age - recycle them...

That I can agree with. Like you, I am a low voltage vaper. And, some of my older batteries I almost never use because they're only for old-style momentary switch mods that I don't use that much anymore.

I made sure I chose mods that use one battery. Makes things so simple!

I wonder if I can marry batteries that were originally used as singles?

Mooch has a thread about that:
Battery marriage...needed or not? Testing starts soon.

Unfortunately, he's still distilling the results.

Wait a minute! Don't your HexOhms take 2 batteries?
Thanks, DH! Yes, they do. Icm wanting to marry some batteries I've been using in a few single batt mods. I'm down to 3 single batt mods & seldom use themn so they ate in the stash. I'd like to use those batts in my Hexes.

I wouldn't recommend it, Kenna. Ageing does take a slow toll, and unless they both started life the same and had the exact same life style, they will have aged differently. The point of marrying is so they age gracefully together.

Oh but, it is in your head. That is where thoughts come from!!!:)

I should have known that was coming.

You use 18650s or have big tanks? Oh, and you use multi lighted button mechs. My batteries last longer than a 3ml tank does. I usually wait until the low battery light flashes. Some of my batteries don't last as long as the others, bought from two different places, so I'll probably order a few. All of mine should only have just over 100 charges on them.

I made sure I chose mods that use one battery. Makes things so simple!

Here's an old bud that hasn't seen daylight in a while.

I've got a stash of those in the vape drawer too. I liked the airflow better the KFL-Lites. But I could never get them to stop weeping juice down the 510 post no matter how tight I made the deck screws, etc. When I took them off to refill there was always juice around the 510 area of the atty.

Thanks, David! Kinda what I thought.
