I don't think either topic as been discussed on the Front Porch.
How quickly we forget. A mere two weeks ago, I started a discussion in this thread on the topic of nicotine salts (post #12221), and there were responses continuing for several days.

I received my 15 ml "free" ($2.75 for shipping) sample of nic salt base from Nude Nic but haven't made joose with it yet... will do that right now.

As I've stated recently in this thread, the possible advantage of nic salts is the reduction in throat hit compared to freebase nic.

I use nothing else. You will find it to be far less irritating to the throat. That 15ml is a great way to try it without a large commitment.

I made this half an hour ago, shook it for half a minute and I've been vaping it for the last 15 minutes. Tastes great to me, but I'm blessed with a hugely tolerant sense of taste. Due to using nic salt liquid instead of freebase nic liquid, I'm able to do DTL because there's very little throat hit, so I'm getting a nic buzz. I've opened up more than usual the air intake on my SteamCrave Aromamizer Plus tank. Pair of 3.5 mm diameter SS 316L coils, combined resistance 0.45 ohms, rayon wicks, TC at 40 W, 405 degrees F.... or maybe I just used a single coil... 0.45 ohms seems like it might be a little high for 2 coils. The nic content of 10 mg/ml is the same as what I've been mixing and using lately with freebase nic. The taste will only improve over the coming days.

Bigbells' Minty Blueberry Joose
15 ml 100 mg/ml nicotine Nude Nic “Smooth” nic salt liquid in 100% VG
12 ml FlavourArt Bilberry
3 ml FlavourArt Spearmint
120 ml VG
Yield 150 ml at 10 mg/ml nic, 10% flavoring, 90/10 VG/PG

Sorry, BB! I forgot! I'm good at that.

That's exactly why I'm interested. But, I'm waiting to figure out how to make my pre-existing nic stash into nic salts.

Is that tongue-in-cheek, or is there really a possibility of doing that? My gut feeling is that it could only be done with pure 1000 mg/ml nicotine.

Have you done the experiment you talked about recently, regarding increasing the VG percentage in your joose?

For those who use nic salt base nic liquid: does anyone think there's a salty taste to the vapor? It could be my mind tricking my tongue, whispering "nic SALT" as I vape.

I knew I had read something about it but couldn't remember where I had seen it or who had written it. Sorry Bells.

Here's a thread where they're talking about trying to make their own nic salts: Using Citric Acid in DIY. It doesn't sound like they'll be there any time soon.

But, I'm also hearing that nic salts gunk coils faster. Not good.

Yes and no. I mixed it up. Now where did I put it to steep? I'll see if I can find it when I get back from running my grandson around.

I would like to know too.

Now, I have never tasted salt (NaCl) in my NudeNicotine solution. I mix mine with water and VG. I use no PG, I don't like it and it does not like me.

I figgered it might have been but was too lazy to try to go back thru all of the posts.

The other thing I am wondering about is flavoring. I'm starting to wonder about this Russian stuff. I have stopped using it but I don't know that it may have caused all the problems I am having with my lungs. I knew they had diacetyl in them but they said it was a tiny amount and I use such a small percentage figured no sweat.

Flavourart has all been tested correct or not? Also the 100% VG if it causes more flegm?

Don't know about diacetyl and Flavor Art, but ime higher VG creates phelgm. So that might be part of your problem, Legs. For me, 50/50 is marginal - ok if I'm not vaping it exclusively. Any higher VG and I'm always trying to clear my throat.

I think everybody knows this but I just want to make sure. Nicotine salt is a liquid, indistinguishable appearance-wise from the nic base that we're accustomed to.

With plenty of citric acid in my cupboard, due to it being the ultimate coffee-maker guts cleaner, I'll have to try it as a joose ingredient.

Yes, Legs, test results for Diacetyl and the other thing (AP, I think) are available for all FlavourArts flavorings.

I read that nic salt was actually a powder but when you buy it it has already been mixed with PG.

Thats what I thought. I am currently on Mucinex 400mg 3 times a day and I am expecting to cough up my toenails any day. My last CT she said that my lungs were covered with plegm plus I have several nodules only 2 that show cancer one has been removed and will look at the other in a couple months. I use 50/50 Dave possibly 60/40.

I. Need. This. Screw brewing vinegar.
Yes. Just stir a teaspoonful or two of citric acid into a cup or so of water until it's dissolved. Put it in the tank of your coffee maker, add enough additional water to equal the maximum brewing capacity, and run a brewing cycle. It not only does a better job than vinegar but it leaves no noticeable taste. You can immediately brew coffee as usual without any need to run a rinse cycle or ten.

My young mind is highly impressionable, and I guess that the word "salt" suggests the taste enough that I taste it.

That's NudeNicotine nic salt solution that you're referring to, right? Just checking, in order to keep anyone from thinking that all Nude Nic nicotine is made with nicotine salts. As I'm sure you know, Nude Nic sells freebase nic solution as well as nic salt solution.

Well I've been doing somemore reading about nic salts, dangerous I know reading that is, but the idea behind it is you can use a higher resistance coil (kanthal) low power and use a juice that has 45mg/ml, which the store bought comes in, so you get your nic fix just taking an occasional puff and you don't have to puff a lot. So 30ml could last quite a while. Some companies make it as high as 60mg/ml. It's not supposed to be harsh at these rates. Sounds interesting. Might be just the thing for me to be able to take a puff and not have to do it all the time. The article I read said that using it at lower nic levels it is probably preferable to use freebase but at a level of say 50mg I could just build my Primes using Kanthal and lower power. Pretty interesting.

So if you were DIYing you would have to add say 45ml of 100mg to a 100ml batch, then do your flavoring and mixer like normal.
