oh Poop! I placed a fastech order Oct. 31 for 2x Coppervape Style rta, some spare tanks, and extra air flow inserts. Finally the order arrived today, 4 weeks on the nose since I ordered and it showed in stock when I placed the order.

But, one of the RTA's is defective. The top ring to take it apart will only turn a fraction of a millimeter left/right and I can hear and feel the threads binding. Must be some machining residue left over jamming the threads.

The other one's top rings spins on and off just fine. I tried carefully with tools after wrapping the ring with 'protecting' but even that won't do. I'm sure I could force it apart if I gripped it with vice grips but then I'd just damage the outside surface.

Oh well, opened a ticket w/ FT to get a replacement. This was the 1st order I made for vape stuff in a very long time from any vendor. Was kind of looking forward to it and now ... disappointment ... at least I have one to play with tomorrow.

They are good tanks. I think you will like the one that works. I use mine every day, along with a Prime.

Don't feel bad, I ordered 1, and broke the glass tank while cleaning it prior to its first use. Never even got a chance to use it. Ordered 10 tanks and still have 9 spares. I think the original had a micro crack or something. So if you ever need a spare glass, I can deliver faster than Fast Tech. <<<sounds like a superhero motto !

Bummer.

Have you tried icing the tank down?

Thanks for the offer but I ordered 6 spares right away. My wife is tough on gear. She’s always dropping them from her lap to the asphalt or concrete when getting out of her car. I even put mod holders in her car’s coffee mug holders but she prefers her lap.

In the freezer already. Regardless the out come, I think they owe me a replacement anyway. I putzed wit it for 45 minutes ... they owe me.

That is too bad :( ….. sometimes we can get bad units from time to time.... It's happened to me as well.... I got a defective Kennedy one time and it about blew my face off because it had a piece of metal hanging in the top cap that was not supposed to be there and it came into direct contact with the coils and shorted them out.

@MikeE3 , my experience with Fasttech customer service for faulty products is they ask for a video of the problem. They used to replace the defective item, but this past year or so just offer a measly credit. I do buy a lot fro Fasttech (well, used to, don't buy much of anything anymore), and overall happy, but just beware..

I did order a couple of the Coppervape Skylines, so we shall see what I get.

I picked up a Coppervape Skyline after a nudge/prompt from this very thread. It's a really nice vape. I was kind of surprised, tbh, because I expected the airflow might blow me away. But no - it dials down very nicely. It's also easy for a noob like me to setup, although I bet that's just beginner's luck.

I have a funny feeling this thread's nearly as risky as the shiny one - I've only just noticed I don't have a backup!

I will. I have a friend trying to completely switch to vaping and I fear for having to keep buying replacement atomizers. Not only the cost, but with time (and the FDA), the replacements can be hard to get in the future. If it's easy to build, dials down air nicely, top fill, it might be perfect for her. She can learn to build. Yes, she can if necessary. I strive for independence!

Hope that was flavored PB Blaster... ;)

And that FT doesn't ask for a video of the problem!

Yepper ... they indicated (or at least it seemed that way) that they would replace it if I provided a youtube video link of the problem. Also asked to clarify if I had the issue with both of the ones I ordered or just one. I figure I'll lay out the atty and the rubber grippers and the pliers with rubber protectors on the table and video the whole scene and narrate I tried all this 'things' to get it off and couldn't budge it. May even have Janet video me actually trying to unscrew it (not sure if I'll take it that far). Sheesh!

I'd even take a credit instead of a replacement, I'd just use the credit to order another one. I waited a month for these to show up ... what's another month (he, he).

Do they make it in diff flavors? I've only seen the regular flavor on the shelf at the store.

It's been soaking in a heavy concentration of Dawn dishwasher soap and water for 24 hrs now. I haven't gotten around to rinsing it and giving it a 'go'.

LOL … Yep, you need a backup..... yeah you hang around here for too long and you get poorer for sure... Like I tell all folks that I suspect have gotten Shinyitis is to go to the Shinyitis support thread or call:

You will probably need to take a video of as close-up as possible. (I use one of those cheapie ($10-$15) close up lenses that you can get for your phone camera*). Turn the atty back and forth so the light catches the damaged threads from as many different angles as possible. (This is why they like a video.)

You will be surprised what you can see with these close-up lenses. Good for medical, coil details, tiny print, documenting jewelry for insurance records, and the like.

    ============
    * As you can see there are lots of expensive ones, but they aren't a lot better than the $10-$15 ones: (I've tried both)

I would try Noalox or equivalent. Whatever you use to keep your thread smooth.
