I love these coils,Mike. They will make a flavor change in a heartbeat too. I’m tired of coiling rta’s.Getting lazy and my eyes ain’t what they used to be

I mainly vaping rebuildable tanks, but using the Zenith frequently. Janet's just the opposite since the Zenith's arrived in the house. I'd probably use them more if I wasn't concerned about getting coils into the future. I still think the flavor and vape is a bit better with a good build but 'dang' the Zenith's come close.

And I sure don't mind that re-wicking time has been cut down. I've re-wicked/coiled so many times over the past years, it's becoming a chore not a pastime.

Got sum mo' at MFS, plus a 10% discount thru Honey.

Thanx to all!

Yay, so glad you got them! This is like being on notice to evacuate from a fire, the longer it drags on the more you think of to cram into your car (despite the lists you made ahead of time ).

Just dropped in to say hello. I'm 59... and fine with that, just that I'm not fine with the idea of being 60 (I will lie and say "I'm 59" forever) ;)

Welcome to the porch and be careful of any chair he may personally offer you, he's been known to "decorate" it.

Wow, that turned out big. Humble apologies. :( But you guys know it's true, right?

Late to the party... as a septuagenarian assume I qualify as an Old Folk?

I quit smoking stinkies and pipes after over 50 years for keeps before I had even heard of this thing called vaping. It had always been easy for me to start and stop smoking for months (and for years one time) as I don't think I was much addicted to nicotine. But I did miss the mechanics of smoking. Sometime later I saw a Blu commercial on TV. So I did some extensive research and decided to try it my way (nic and tobacco free).

I have hung my hat on three different vaping forums over the years. Around 2-3 months on one that is no longer in operation, the lions share of them here on ECF, and for about a year and a half on one in Africa when I was on hiatus from ECF. My path in vaping has always been a progressive one, buying and trying many different types of gear in a quest to find what was the most satisfying for my DL vaping style (after a false start with a truckload of MTL gear). And from the start making nicotine/tobacco free DIY liquids with the same goal in mind. I reached a state of near perfect happiness with my main preferred mods 5 years ago, and with the only atomizers I will use anymore about 2 years ago. While I still learn new tricks sometimes, my DIY has been what I wanted from it for something over five years with recipes perfected to my personal tastes in the gear I run them in.

Gear in a nut shell... I prefer specific mesh RDA's on 18650 mech and 2X700 regulated squonk mods, and use specific mesh RTA's on 18650, 2X700 and 26650 regulated mods.

While I don't sleep much, I am a night owl so am most active during the night. It's just after 5 AM here... time to make some more coffee.

Some of the current gear...

Still happy with my original Aspire Nautilus tanks with the addition of the "Hollowed" tanks (a pierced SS shell with a glass liner). I just kept breaking the plain glass tanks. I use the BVC coils and have quite a few of them, both the original (probably Kanthal) and the nickel TC versions by Evolv/Aspire. I expect them to last me quite a while since the coils last me anywhere from 6 months to a year (basically until I forget and let them run dry and take a dry hit which clogs the wick with burnt juice). (Unflavored e-juice is what lets them last so long.)

I run them on two Geekvape Aegis mods (the original, before they began making all the different Aegis xxx), one by my reading chair and one by my computer. These two get the most use (probably 80% of my e-juice gets vaped through them); in addition I have.a string of eLeaf Istick TC40Ws (one in my pocket, one in my vehicle emergency kit, and three freshly recharged in reserve).

I've been replacing the original clear drip tips with black Delrin™ as I bite through them. I need to clamp down on my drip tips with my teeth because my hands usually shake too much to keep the tip located otherwise. I've actually chewed through several. The Delrin doesn't seem to get damaged quite so fast, but I have a pretty good supply, anyway. They would be fairly easy to turn out on the lathe from plain Delrin rod if I ever run out.

Welcome to the Front Porch. You sure seem to know what you like and have gotten yourself setup well. I've been around vaping for sometime .... but not sure what you mean by "specific mesh RDA's". Is that a coil/wick you make or is it a prebuilt drop in?

I have a ton of wire and prewound coils plus the simple tool to wind my own.A ton of cotton and and plenty of rayon. The only coils I don’t mind winding nowadays are for the mini sub and of course the ego ones that just need wicking.

    Thanks for the welcomes...

Specific RDA's means I use up to 10 each of 3 different models of mesh RDA's that use a piece of KA1, Ni80 or SS316 mesh (similar to widow screen) instead of a wrapped coil to vaporize the liquid in the wick (I have 28 of them). They heat up instantly over a massive wick that holds a lot of liquid for major vapor and flavor production. So the build is critical to tame these fire breathing dragons, and They also require paying heed to the batteries you use to fire their low Ω builds. The Wotofo Profile Mesh RDA's changed the world of mesh RDA's, are the easiest to build right with their spring loaded deck. Even a beginner can get the first build right. Some mesh, like the examples below are drop in strips for specific models of mesh RDA's (including the Profiles). But you can also buy rolls or sheets of various grades of mesh and cut them to fit your mesh RDA's yourself.

Nice! Thanks for the walk-through on those coils. I supposed I stopped trying to be on the leading edge back when Genny tanks were the bees knees. I remember making our own ceramic wicks to replace the rolled mesh wicks that were standard fare for a Genny at the time.

First cut down an Aluminum Oxide polishing stone to rough size.

    IMG_1462.jpg

Then shape it on a grinder or wet sharpening wheel.

    IMG_1328.jpg

Next 'hot wrap' the coil. Which meant keeping the wire glowing red while wrapping around the wick to get a very tight contact of the wire to the ceramic wick.

    IMG_1492.jpg

Then the easy part. Install it in the atty. But even the final step way dicey. About now just while apply the final touch to tighten a screw, 'oh snap', you'd break the wick.

Mike I still have 2 Genny tanks and multiple sheets of the mesh for them. If I had to I could make them work. I am praying I never have to. Dang things turned my eliquid black. That can't be good.

Brings back memories eh? Rolling the mesh ... working out hot spots ... "Those were the days my friend ...I'm glad they came to an end". Thank goodness for the next generation of atty's and cotton and rayon.

    Amen!

At one point I had worked out how to wick a genny with cotton yarn (unbleached/undyed carefully washed first of course)

I've never tried any of those. I'd have to google 'em to know what they look like. But I did buy another 10 boxes of Zenith coils today. Vendors seem to not be restocking them or are having a hard time getting them from Innokin ... I don't know which/why. Just thought I'd get more while they were available.

In one of the stocking/deeming threads someone even mentioned Innokin may be coming out with a new tank to replace the Zenith with a new coil too. I hesitated mentioning this because I don't want to perpetuate a rumor if it was just someones conjecture but at the same time I thought if I threw it out here someone else might have heard something similar (or not).

I only still have one survivor from those days, a NoName NoGain that I drilled out for DL vaping.
