@ Spydro I was going to PM this but your profile wont let me.

I am going to be putting in an order for the same tubing Rob uses in REO's do you need any? I have to buy at least 10 ft of it to put in the order so let me know soon please. Same goes for other porchers that use REOs.

In other news...
I had an unpleasant encounter at the grocery today. I parked the car. Took a nice big vape before getting out. He comes some fool with a cig hanging out his mouth. Says to me "You know vaping is going to kill you right?" My answer "Save me a good spot in hell cause you are sure to get there before me."
Some people...[emoji54][emoji15][emoji23]

Probably so Myrany since 2legs passed away. My vape journey likely parallels a bunch of other ECFers. Started with stick cig-a-likes, moved to eGo's then to mech's and finally to regulated mods.

I spent a lot of time staying up with the latest and greatest until the early phases of temp control boards and vaping. I dabbled with TC when it arrived on the scene but never got as satisfying a vape as my kanthal builds. That and it became more technical then I was willing to invest the time in. Use nickel wire, no use titanium wire, no use SS wire. Don't dry burn your coils ... watch out for that oxide build up, just heat your coils 'till such and such a color, Hook you're DNA up to eScribe and load a custom TCR and on and on.

Geez ... by then I just wanted to press the button and vape not be a scientist to understand it all. So I've pretty much settled on my favorite kanthal builds and atty's and set my regulated mods to 10 watts and I'm a happy vaper.
I never looked twice at tc. I did switch to stainless. The flavor is cleaner with it. But keeping my roll of kanthal in the stash.

You and me both. I have several Mods that do TC. I even have nickel and SS wire. Just never really enjoyed the vape from them so set the mods back for Kanthal and never looked back. Now I will be the first to admit my small hands limited me on what mods are comfortable. I have a strong preference for single battery mods as I am less likely to drop them. I have been told that good TC really requires at least a dual battery mod. I just can't hold on to them.
My HexOhm's are dual battery & heavy, but I like it because I have to hold them tighter & don't drop them.

I actually prefer TC. It cuts the likelihood of dry hits, which tend to mess up the (unreplaceable) wicks in my BVC attys. As near as I can tell my attys last until I mess up by letting the e-juice get too low, or I get impatient and take a puff before a tank refill has time to soak in. I usually get six months to a year since I switched to flavorless e-juice.

I have a LOT of Kanthal BVCs to use up, so I expect that I will be using VV/VW mods for quite a while. The Evolv/VaporShark Nickel BVC coils are frequently hard to find. (And now my PayPal account is messed up so I can't order them when I do find them.)

I've been a fine woods person all my life, hobby crafted exotic woods for over 50 years, etc.
Hi Spydro, welcome to the Front Porch. I dabble a little in woodworking with exotic woods but my expertise is not on the level it would take to make my own mods. My budget doesn't allow me to invest in an exotic wood mod and even if it did I don't think I would buy one because I would probably drop it.
I used an REO for a while but I now have it relegated to my spare mod shelf because I would forget to squonk it and spent more time wicking it than using it.
Vape mail came to my house today. I received my order of VG & PG from Essential Depot. Along with the nicotine I have, 5 250ml bottles, I should be set for quite a while. I vape unflavored 5 mg/ml so my DIY is very simple.

Mine is fairly simple as well. I mix at 65 mg/ml and I have 1.5 liters of 100 mg/ml in PG and 10 liters of 50 mg/ml in 50/50 PG/VG. (Both a bit less by what I have mixed since I stocked up.) Mixing 2 units of the 50 with one unit of the 100 gets me 67 mg/ml in 68/32 PG/VG which is close enough to my optimum 65 to suit me. I like low VG to keep the visible vapor down and the TH up.

I'm a bit concerned about my nic supply, but I'm temporarily living in a small apartment with very limited freezer space. I can barely store my existing supply. I'd like to get another 5 liters of 100 mg/ml before the vapocalypse. I can see some brain-dead solon in the federal government deciding to follow the EU and ban anything over 20 mg/ml.

Hi Front Porchers!!! :)

I normally don't post in here, but was reading and would hate to see this thread go away....one of the most informative here on ECF!! Did a lot of learning here.

Usually I hang out on the Back Porch and the Lounge threads, but the Front Porch enabled so many folks, including myself to learn so much valuable information, that I needed to acknowledge its value.

As you know, I don't post a lot, but read all that I can, when time permits.

Have grown to love you all, and hopefully my post will contribute to this thread coming alive once more.

Good morning!

I'm pretty much stocked up. It's gonna have to do. It doesn't look like I'm gonna have money to buy anything right now!

What do you still need to get? I'm toying with the idea of a new mod, one I've never used but have heard good things about, to try far on down the line when I get a hankering for "vape mail." Yeah, I don't need it, I just want it.

@Myrany , a previous post got butchered, no doubt my fault, but I meant to tell you your reply to the :censored: that told you vaping was bad for you was pure genius.  Can I steal it?

Had a bad ECF outage in the middle of trying to make this post. That hasn't happened to me in a while. Hope they are trying to fix all the broken stuff around here in light of what's coming down the pike for a bunch of us. Many people are going to need some serious help.

Oh I have gone down my own sets of rabbit holes along the way myself. I was rebuilding string clearo's and protanks before rebuilding was a thing. LOL

Mike and I, I think are the main technical oriented vapers left on the porches.

These days I am mostly focused on getting my ducks in final order for the coming vapocalypse and trying to fight down the sick feeling in the pit of my stomach that this is going to be even worse than we have envisioned for all these years.

Being in my mid 50s I am one of the younguns on this thread. I am aiming my prep at an optimistic 40 years. Big task. Lots of time for things to go horribly wrong.

My primary vaping preference is squonking but even so I have several rebuildable tanks and mods to put them on as well as more standard dripping attys. Not a fan of old school dripping but if that is all I am left with so be it. It is better than smoking. Heck I even have Divers so I can put my old carto tanks back into the rotation if that becomes necessary. I hope it doesn't come to that those things are a leaky mess but they could be made to work.

I made it my business more than 6 years ago to begin prepping for what is happening now. Learned what I needed to to build safely and make liquids. Heck I even have printed instructions for how to build my own mod and atty should I have to (God please don't let me have to).

I think what we are seeing now is BTs long gameplan to put everything but them out of business. I have no pity for Juul. THey sold us out long ago before they were bought out by BT. There never was a path for our kind of vaping going forward. I just worry so much for those still smoking. :(

@Myrany, after a false start with Halo G6's and their Mini Tanks I well remember the days of yore starting 6++ years ago rebuilding 2.5Ω, 2.2Ω or 1.8Ω Protank ! & !! and other coil heads trying to get into the realm of sub ohm to perform better for my DLH's on the Sigelei 18XXX tube and telescoping tube mods (and a ZMAX V5 VV/VW) that replaced the Halo gear. Gave up on them soon enough, got a couple of RSST's for starters and dove into the world of genesis.
g6gear.jpg sigs.jpg

I'm all set with everything I will ever need in gear and DIY supplies now that I placed what should be my last vaping order on the 18th (will be here Saturday). A big stash of VG and PG in 1 liter bottles. Ought to be more than enough VG/PG with what I already have on hand to see me through to the end of the trail. I already have at least a 5 year supply of flavor concentrates and 2-3 years of DIY one-shots I've made from some of them.

When I was young woodworking was just another chore that had to be done on the ranch, but it became a hobby that stayed with me most of my life. Besides building fences, sheds, garages and a couple of homes I made bowls, predator/animal calls, tools, furniture, grips/stocks, and while married for 35 years any kind of 'honey-do" projects that came up around the house or at her quilt shop. I don't/can't do it anymore, so what's left of my wood shop is in storage along with a bunch of wood that I never got around to using. Some of the woods and calls...

OMG...I just had to stop and clean my laptop. I slobbered all over it. I get pen kits from a local shop and make ink pens for family and friends. Your calls are beautiful. I can imagine you could make some really sweet mods. A lady I used to work with gave me a load of wood that her dad used to make ships. She showed me some of his work. Talk about beautiful workmanship the level of detail is unsurpassed.
I was out and about today and stopped at my favorite vape shop to say hi and see if they had anything I couldn't live without. Everything in the shop was 50% off. The had a lot of starter kits, tanks, mech devices, and flavored ejuice. Totally out of regulated devices. It is sad knowing the shop that made it possible for me to quit smoking is getting ready to close their doors. They don't know the closing date but it is soon. It really depressed me to see what was happening. They admitted it was because of the looming flavor ban. Sad Sad Sad!!!

Remind me sometime to post a photo of 2 of the drop spindles I have that are like handcarved wood lace. My hubby bought them for me years ago and neither of us remember the name of the old gentleman that made them but they are works of art.

Very sad about the shop. I think it is just the beginning. My email is flooded with notices of huge sales and even from one shop in NY a shopwide clearance (My Vapor Store).

Interesting that you brought up pen wood. I have a bunch of exotic pen blanks I cut from the scrap from other larger projects, but never did get around to making any pens out of them. But i did use some of them for making scribes, awls and picks that I used for doing scrimshaw, leather and bead work though. This stout one is for doing scrimshaw in antler and bone that is much harder than ivory or horn. In the 'skull & call' picture above there is an open reed mule deer antler howler that carved and gutted with a pocket knife while sitting around several primitive campfires over time that I used this scribe to scrimshaw a period correct map of an actual rendezvous place on it showing the rivers, lakes, mountains, etc.
scrimtool.jpg

Back OT... around 5 years ago I considered cutting up a bunch of my higher grade woods into blocks sized for making mods out of. There were several custom mod makers overseas that I wanted to have make me some custom mods from my woods. In the end it never happened though due to 2-3 year waiting times to get them made when most of them went out of business before my number came up.

Some of the exhibition grade woods also made there way to firearm gripes and stocks as well. (Not sure how admin feels about these kind of pics here, so will just try one and see if it is allowed.)
2tccbbwleu.jpg

I did lots of crafting for many different things during most of my life. It was a way to relax from the high pressure jobs I had. One of them that stuck with me for the nearly 40 years that I reenacted the mountain man era (period from the early 1800's to 1840's) was making period pieces for the trade blankets at rendezvous. Scrimshaw salt boxes, powder and rum horns, knives, flint and bone arrow points and other tools, original antique trade bead necklaces/adornments, gewgaw leather goods, accoutrements and foofarraw.

If you open the thumbnails, enlarge then click on the images they will open to full size.

Now vaping and DIY is the only hobbies I have. But ever since I have had it all done pat for my personal tastes and uses it has not been much of a hobby anymore.

Fun and games with age verification.
After thawing my full liter of nicotine (again) I finally had to admit I can't handle it safely. So back it goes to the freezer for emergency use, and I'm paying extra for smaller bottles. Since I'm also still mad at My Freedom Smokes I figured I'd go upscale and placed an order for 2 - 500 ml bottles from Nude Nicotine September 4, no problems, got it right away.

Entering panic mode with all the knee jerk political news I decided to go back on the 15th and order 4 250 ml bottles, since I can make up a batch of my base without needing to measure, just use the whole 250 ml. I failed the same age verification I'd passed 2 weeks earlier. All I could figure was that I let my Driver's license expire this summer, figuring I'll just get an ID the next time I'm in Fargo and have time, and that just posted at their verification company*. I asked them about it and they were fairly snippy saying if I failed theirs I wouldn't be able to use a different supplier.

So today I went to Wizard Labs and verified just fine through their system.

* I've had a question for awhile regarding voter id requirements - why can't you use an expired ID? It's the same info and picture.
