I've never tried any of those. I'd have to google 'em to know what they look like. But I did buy another 10 boxes of Zenith coils today. Vendors seem to not be restocking them or are having a hard time getting them from Innokin ... I don't know which/why. Just thought I'd get more while they were available.

In one of the stocking/deeming threads someone even mentioned Innokin may be coming out with a new tank to replace the Zenith with a new coil too. I hesitated mentioning this because I don't want to perpetuate a rumor if it was just someones conjecture but at the same time I thought if I threw it out here someone else might have heard something similar (or not).
    I heard the same

Gotta love REO's I have 5 they are my primary vape these days.

The Reos were a major game changer for me 5 years ago. I bought 37 of them, still have 35 in hand. But these days I only use the 5 P67's running Wotofo Profile Mesh RDA's (pictured above in my first post here). It was a sad day when the ReoMeister Robert O'Neil closed Reoville back in early 2016, and eventually Reosmods. Reosmods and it's inventory (over 1000 Reos) was eventually bought by a new owner who has done next to nothing with it (so I did not support him like I did Rob). So this is just a public service message... FWIW, he is closing Reosmods again and selling off the inventory right now (until 9/20/19 IIRC), with most of the Reos for 50% off. They were going fast, so this might be the last chance to get a new Reo if anyone is interested.

My first Reo was a used Copper Vein Mini 2.1 that came with a brass RM2. If IIRC I have 7-8 of them that most of were drilled out for DL. Reo #1 was bought off the ECF classifieds 8/17/14. It impressed me enough that within a few weeks I had 9 Reos (including some Woodvil's). The last Reo I bought from Rob was a one of a kind custom color P67 that Rob made special for me 5/15/17 (not too long before he sold out). It is my favorite P67. But the most special to me Reo I have is a solid brass Mini 1.0 that Rob put a patina finish on and gifted to me 3/15/16 around the time when he shut down the Resomods forum here. It was my 32nd Reo

37 with 35 in hand ... Yikes. You must be an Honorary ReoMeister well beyond just a Reonaut.

Yep, Reo is added to the list of now gone makers and vendors ... I remember way back when some nice handcrafted mods from 'Hog Mods' and 'Red Sky Mods" where in high demand ... they were quite popular in their day.

Two things in my life I never had a hankering to do 1.) play golf and 2.) squonk.

Late to the party... as a septuagenarian assume I qualify as an Old Folk?

I quit smoking stinkies and pipes after over 50 years for keeps before I had even heard of this thing called vaping. It had always been easy for me to start and stop smoking for months (and for years one time) as I don't think I was much addicted to nicotine. But I did miss the mechanics of smoking. Sometime later I saw a Blu commercial on TV. So I did some extensive research and decided to try it my way (nic and tobacco free).

I have hung my hat on three different vaping forums over the years. Around 2-3 months on one that is no longer in operation, the lions share of them here on ECF, and for about a year and a half on one in Africa when I was on hiatus from ECF. My path in vaping has always been a progressive one, buying and trying many different types of gear in a quest to find what was the most satisfying for my DL vaping style (after a false start with a truckload of MTL gear). And from the start making nicotine/tobacco free DIY liquids with the same goal in mind. I reached a state of near perfect happiness with my main preferred mods 5 years ago, and with the only atomizers I will use anymore about 2 years ago. While I still learn new tricks sometimes, my DIY has been what I wanted from it for something over five years with recipes perfected to my personal tastes in the gear I run them in.

Gear in a nut shell... I prefer specific mesh RDA's on 18650 mech and 2X700 regulated squonk mods, and use specific mesh RTA's on 18650, 2X700 and 26650 regulated mods.

While I don't sleep much, I am a night owl so am most active during the night. It's just after 5 AM here... time to make some more coffee.

    Some of the current gear...

Welcome to the Front Porch! :) Don't know if it was mentioned but there's also the Back Porch in the Lounge subforum.

Nice! Thanks for the walk-through on those coils. I supposed I stopped trying to be on the leading edge back when Genny tanks were the bees knees. I remember making our own ceramic wicks to replace the rolled mesh wicks that were standard fare for a Genny at the time.

First cut down an Aluminum Oxide polishing stone to rough size.

    View attachment 838947

Then shape it on a grinder or wet sharpening wheel.

    View attachment 838951

Next 'hot wrap' the coil. Which meant keeping the wire glowing red while wrapping around the wick to get a very tight contact of the wire to the ceramic wick.

    View attachment 838953

Then the easy part. Install it in the atty. But even the final step way dicey. About now just while apply the final touch to tighten a screw, 'oh snap', you'd break the wick.

    View attachment 838959

Now I'm starting to understand why you think rewicking is such a chore. :w00t:

I have to be honest I bought the 2 standards and it was tough for me to do given my financial situation. The Woodville was a gift from a very kind ECFer so I have that one that can take larger attys. The other 2 I ordered last friday. I just haven't had the money for much of the really good stuff. I do not however regret one cent I spent on the REOs.

Kinda makes me glad I missed all that. I'd have never started vaping. I started at the time Nautilus's & MVP2's came out. So those were my first step up from ego batteries & C4 tanks. Then straight to coiling & higher power mods. (Moment of silence for the Hana Mod I killed putting the battery in backwards. Only mod I ever killed.) And then DIY juice. I need to make a list of the flavorings I need to let go of.

Back in the day there was at least two ladies that had more Reos than I did that had started buying them for over 4 years before I started getting mine (nerek & JCOkie). I did participate daily and nightly on the Reosmods forum from 8/2014 until Rob shut it down 3/2016 IIRC, and had a Reonaut badge. But I turned it in after Reosmods went under new ownership.

I started playing golf in the early 1960's. But after I retired in 1990 and had more time to play I soon learned that man does not live by playing golf 8 days a week (on some of those days 36 holes). I have not played it since but do still have 2 of the 7 nicest golf sets I played with in storage for no good reason. (I gave the other 5 away years ago.)

At first I wasted a hellofalot of money on gear that didn't get the job done for me, much of it very expensive US, EURO, PHIL, etc gear and accessories. So you are probably well ahead by taking the buying path you did verses the path I took.

I've been a fine woods person all my life, hobby crafted exotic woods for over 50 years, etc. But there were no Woodvil's available from Reosmods the first year plus I started buying Reos. I managed to pick up quite a few from earlier runs on classifieds though. I ended up with 11 of them, but the four new 2015 Mech Woodvil's I got on 'Woodvil Sale Day' 5/26/15 at Reosmods were the game changers in Reo wood. I don't use any of them now days, but with their flat top and side fire button I could use those four to drive mesh RDA's in a pinch.

Old pictures of them running Nuppin' BF RDA's...

I haven't gone back and researched what the normal flow is here now days, so am not sure what interests most of the folks here. So I have mostly responded to other posts so far. Since I have been down a lot of vaping paths and dark worm holes since early 2013, maybe could add some fairly educated experience, history and pictures in several specific topics that are vape related as I perceived them that might spark some new banter here. My vaping has been gear and method driven mostly though.

Oh I have gone down my own sets of rabbit holes along the way myself. I was rebuilding string clearo's and protanks before rebuilding was a thing. LOL

Mike and I, I think are the main technical oriented vapers left on the porches.

These days I am mostly focused on getting my ducks in final order for the coming vapocalypse and trying to fight down the sick feeling in the pit of my stomach that this is going to be even worse than we have envisioned for all these years.

Being in my mid 50s I am one of the younguns on this thread. I am aiming my prep at an optimistic 40 years. Big task. Lots of time for things to go horribly wrong.

My primary vaping preference is squonking but even so I have several rebuildable tanks and mods to put them on as well as more standard dripping attys. Not a fan of old school dripping but if that is all I am left with so be it. It is better than smoking. Heck I even have Divers so I can put my old carto tanks back into the rotation if that becomes necessary. I hope it doesn't come to that those things are a leaky mess but they could be made to work.

I made it my business more than 6 years ago to begin prepping for what is happening now. Learned what I needed to to build safely and make liquids. Heck I even have printed instructions for how to build my own mod and atty should I have to (God please don't let me have to).

I think what we are seeing now is BTs long gameplan to put everything but them out of business. I have no pity for Juul. THey sold us out long ago before they were bought out by BT. There never was a path for our kind of vaping going forward. I just worry so much for those still smoking. :(

@ Spydro I was going to PM this but your profile wont let me.

I am going to be putting in an order for the same tubing Rob uses in REO's do you need any? I have to buy at least 10 ft of it to put in the order so let me know soon please. Same goes for other porchers that use REOs.

    In other news...
I had an unpleasant encounter at the grocery today. I parked the car. Took a nice big vape before getting out. He comes some fool with a cig hanging out his mouth. Says to me "You know vaping is going to kill you right?" My answer "Save me a good spot in hell cause you are sure to get there before me."

Probably so Myrany since 2legs passed away. My vape journey likely parallels a bunch of other ECFers. Started with stick cig-a-likes, moved to eGo's then to mech's and finally to regulated mods.

I spent a lot of time staying up with the latest and greatest until the early phases of temp control boards and vaping. I dabbled with TC when it arrived on the scene but never got as satisfying a vape as my kanthal builds. That and it became more technical then I was willing to invest the time in. Use nickel wire, no use titanium wire, no use SS wire. Don't dry burn your coils ... watch out for that oxide build up, just heat your coils 'till such and such a color, Hook you're DNA up to eScribe and load a custom TCR and on and on.

Geez ... by then I just wanted to press the button and vape not be a scientist to understand it all. So I've pretty much settled on my favorite kanthal builds and atty's and set my regulated mods to 10 watts and I'm a happy vaper.

You and me both. I have several Mods that do TC. I even have nickel and SS wire. Just never really enjoyed the vape from them so set the mods back for Kanthal and never looked back. Now I will be the first to admit my small hands limited me on what mods are comfortable. I have a strong preference for single battery mods as I am less likely to drop them. I have been told that good TC really requires at least a dual battery mod. I just can't hold on to them.

Legs used to do quite the reviews on new stuff, miss that.

Until recently, the ProVari 2.5 was my most modern mod. Now it the minifit. At least I'm happy with what I have.
