Utah has tried to pass that for the past two years in a row, and will probably try to pass it again this year.

The reality is that the 15 year old that chooses to smoke doesn't give a damn what the legal age is. So the only people effected by such a law are 18,19 & 20 year old legal adults.
The bad news is that those between 18 & 20 would not be remanded to juvenile court, and because of those convictions would never be allowed a good scholarship to a prestigious collage, and could even be barred from military service. (class F offence .... same as a drug conviction)

I heard a lobbyist say (2015) "how old does an adult need to be to make a stupid decision?"
I dont know what the answer is but I know the "forbidden fruit" is more attractive precisely because it's forbidden.

I grew up in Greece where tobacco and liquor were not forbidden until we were adults. I remember being sent to the convenience store down the street to get a bottle of wine for dinner.

Apparently that is why alcoholism was not a problem in Greece although smoking was and is. They need vaping there big time!

Good Afternoon, Folks!

Hope everyone has been doing o.k. Those with health issues, I hope you get some relief. Those waiting on vapemail, I hope it arrives quickly :)

Just helped a potential convert order some gear. In the essence of keeping it "simple", he's getting a Cuboid Mini and an eLeaf iPower along with a couple of eGo ONE V2 tanks with spare coils. His words, "I'm ready to quit". Don't know if I shared this here, but he works for a client for whom I'm doing an implementation. He was outside smoking one day when I pulled up. I walked up and asked if he'd thought about vaping. Said he'd tried it once, but the juice sucked and the device (starter pen kit, I believe) just didn't cut it for him. Showed him my eVic VTC Mini that was sporting an eGo ONE tank. Next time I went over there, I had a spare tank loaded with a menthol tobacco flavor (I had a sample from a ProVape that I do NOT like.) He mentioned things "blowing up" I explained that generally happens when somebody tries to do something stoopid. If you pay a little attention, the likelihood of something disastrous happening was very slim. Showed him a picture of my vape cave. His eyes got REALLY BIG. Asked if I'd help him get started. Was back over there yesterday, helping with more of the implementation. Before I left, we placed the order :)

I'm REALLY hoping this gets delivered before I have to go out of town. I want to sit down with him and make sure he understands how everything works before I have to leave. I've mixed a few juices for him, in hopes at least ONE of the flavors will be o.k. If we get a winner, I'll mix a larger batch for him. I might get to use up some of my TFA tobaccos that I'm not overly fond of.

If this turns out to be a complete bust, I'll buy the gear back from him. Other than being internal battery mods, nothing I wouldn't use for myself. If he takes off, the mods are versatile enough that he can grow into them. One can only hope :)

AND THE BEST PART.................. I had gone out to lunch with his boss (the owner of the company with whom I'm working). We talked a little about vaping and how I'd broached the topic with his employee (as I pulled out my mod and took a hit - I was driving :D ). He's a former smoker, but not a vaper. We talked about the eliquids, and HE commented that e-juice doesn't have all the tar and chemicals and whatnots in cigarette smoke. So, even though a former smoker NOT AN ANTZ!!!!!!!!!!!

One of them will be o.k. - there's a plain spearmint that's good to go right now. The other two may need another week. As long as I can get him through the week I'm gone, I can probably help him find SOMETHING that will work.

Dinger, how proud we are of you! Your efforts are of the spirit/goal of so many here. Through concern/'bakky freedom/willingness to assist, we all here have built not only a sub-forum, but also a 'rich' porch family.

Through near six years personal experience, will say da efforts may be great and successes sporadic, BUT da 'rewards' are much beyond ourselves!

Kudos to your kind and caring heart...

My best success story is Geordi's breeder. Although she still smokes some, she is mostly vaping :banana:. I ordered her a bunch of ego twist batteries with the Fasttech CNY sale because she loves them for sliding in her scrubs (she is an ER nurse) and quick vape breaks.

It is a very rewarding experience to help someone successfully switch to vaping. But they DO have to want to quit smoking.

I've been taught so much by so many wonderful folks here in the forum that I can't help but pay it forward. Even if I can only have one success, I'll feel as though I've made a difference in someone's life.

All so very true.

True, I feel the same way. If everyone who vaped could just get one person to convert there would be twice as many healthier peeps out there.
I have gotten quite a few friends and family members to convert, some of them are even doing their own builds. Some of them required a lot of babysitting seemingly forever while others just jump right in with buying their own juice and coil heads.
There are always failures but I can't blame myself if they go back to cigs. As others have said, "they have to want it".
I have one troublesome partial convert that flip flops between cigs and vaping. I can always tell when he spent the weekend smoking cuz he hacks while vaping at work until about lunch time on Mondays. It's frustrating to listen to but at least he's trying. We're the same age but the poor guy's lungs are so shot he runs out of breath just carrying a few sheets of drywall in from the truck. I hope he will come around to vaping full time soon. It could mean the difference between living a long life or contracting copd.

On a different front I have convinced two of my underaged nephews to quit vaping. Neither is/was a smoker and both were vaping because it is "cool to vape", "my friends all vape", "vaping won't hurt me" and on and on. I gave them the ol' "herd mentality" talk, convinced them both that they were being robbed of their individuality and explained many of the knowns and unknowns about vaping. Apparently it worked and I feel just as good about that as I do about converts. Children should not vape for any reason and I am appalled that some parents allow it.
One local woman here is suing the local vape shop, not for selling her underaged son vape gear, but for selling it to him for double price because he is under age. What the heck?!! I like the idea of having a local vape shop in our two horse town but not at the expense of minors. I hope he gets put out of business. End of rant....

I'm so torn on the topic of non-smokers vaping. Especially "young'ns". My parents smoked, and I snuck cigarettes when I was a teen. I didn't really "start" until I was 21, and then the dam broke. I don't have kids, and my nieces are all adults now and may make their own decisions. I guess my philosophy is Don't even get started, but if you're gonna start, at least vape.... I do hope that jackwipe that price-gouged the kid gets his due. (Feel free to rant at your leisure!)

Hope your coworker finally makes the decision to quit the stink-sticks. Ya gotta WANT to quit in order to make it work. Maybe (before it's too late) he'll get tired of the hacking and wheezing (that's what did it for me) and give vaping a full-time go. :)
