I just tried out the Melo III Mini that I found in my Pico box. I removed the coil, washed it up and dried it and filled it. Then, I juiced up the coil and put it back together. Meh! It was about right with the air flow turned down almost all the way, but vapor was almost nonexistent until I cranked it up to 15 watts. Still, I think it needs to sit and soak the premade coil before passing judgement. Flavor wasn't even close to my kayfun. I'll try it again after it soaks the wicking a little more.

I'm back to my Kayfun LP V2!

I run my .3 coil in my Melo Mini at 38 watts. Pretty good vape. In fact it was good enough to me that it got me off the stinkies. You might try turning up the watts more if that's the coil you have.

My SS316L coil in the KF2 is .95 ohm and works fine at 10W. The Melo coil reads .38 and isn't happy at my normal vape level. You were right ... it does produce good vapor at 35 to 40 watts, but with my 70pg juice it's harsh and not to my liking. Maybe the Melo is designed for high VG vapers.

Back to the KF2 .95 ohm sweet spot!

Such a varied group of folks but mostly Kayfun lovers eh? I am long time Taifun lover and just got the 3rd version and love it

Most everyone here likes vaping the way we started to get off the smokes. There's a lot of past eGo vapers here. Taifun GT is a MTL tank. You'll be at home here.

Taifun GT is on my list to purchase. I just haven't found one in stock and on sale yet, but still looking. I keep buying Kayfun-like tanks, trying them for a while and ending up with a Kayfun clone in my hand again. Go figure. It's probably just the right airflow for my vape style.

I've never vaped at 38 watts ;) Now if you divide that wattage by 5 ..........

Congrats on finding a vape that got you off cigarettes, but for the most part chasing wattage is not the answer for finding a way to quit smoking. Finding the proper nicotine level at whatever wattage works far better.

Yeah, I run 70 vg/30 pg in my diy mixes. I think the fullness of the vg vape is also what helped me lay down those cigarettes.

I am also enjoying my new Digiflavor Siren GTA running 15 watts at 440 degrees. I do have it on the largest air hole and I am thinking about pulling off the diffuser. All in all I am liking the Siren.

I tried quitting before back in the day on a mech mod called a Silver Bullet. I vaped high pg ejuice. 24 and 18 mg. It did not work for me. I tried with the little ego twist battery things with the kanger tops, didn't work.

Now fast forward about 7 years and this little Pico with its Melo Mini III and high VG low 6mg nic has worked. Now is it just I was finally ready to quit? Maybe that has something to do with it as well.

Back in 2011 I had dropped from 2 PAD to 6 cigs a day after vaping for a year. What finally made me lay down the last few was vaping and smoking after supper with both hands, one with a Provari and the other with a Merit light. One tasted good and the other tasted nasty in comparison. Both supplied me with nicotine. I finished the pack and never bought another.

Someone told me that if I tried it that way it would convince my brain that I didn't need the stinkies. They were right!

The newest Taifun GT3 is not mouth to lung. The original GT was and the TGT2 was heading towards lung hits but not quite there. The 3's definately are with added juice control. This one is the best

I bought 4 Kayfuns when they went on sale somewhere but have not tried them out. Sort of bought them in the interest of "can never have too much if the sky falls'

Perhaps, or perhaps just finding the right combo for you, or both ;)

Sort of like the whole quitting cig process. No matter what method (or combination of methods) used, one has to be at the point of wanting the change. If one isn't there yet, nothing is going to work. Heck, I went through the patch sequence 3 times with no luck.

And welcome to the Porch! Glad you found us :thumb:

While I'm one of them KF lovers it's because they work for me. Been almost 4 1/2 years off the cigs, and probably 3 of those on the KF train. And while I occasionally try a different topper, I still haven't found one that works better (for me, of course - that's all that counts!)

And none of us porchers are judgmental. Whatever works for any given individual is the best choice for them.

Welcome to the porch. I used Taifuns for awhile ... but size wise ... they were a bit too tall for my taste. They did vape nice ... I probably still have a few in my vape stash ... just not in use any more.

They are tall buggers aren't they? maybe listening to you peeps will make me get a Kayfun out of the stash box (who am I kidding it is a stash cupboard now) and try one. Not even sure which ones I bought.

So far, for both ease of use and flavor I haven't found anything that makes me want to give up my Kayfuns. Sure, there are other RTA's that may have better flavor (the Squape (R), for instance), but the Kayfun deck is familiar and easy to coil once you do a few.

In fairness, I've bought and tried a small box full of different MTL tanks and atomizers. I use them a while and they end up in a box with the others. I have about three Kayfun 4's in boxes that I tried and found to be more laborious than the KF2 and KF3. The Kayfun 5 was nice and I used it for a while, but it didn't take me away from the KF2. I got a little tired of playing with the air flow control to get it "just right".

I am so glad I didn't have a struggle switching. If it had been at all difficult I'm afraid I wouldn't have done it. I know the cigalike I tried first was terrible & I blew off vaping for several months. I had no one to advise me. I am glad I gave it another shot with an ego/ce4 set up & actual non tobacco flavored juice. That did it. Nic level, flavor, device. Boom! I had no craving, except wanting that flavor. Didn't even reach for a cig.

@Riplea, Welcome round the porches! Lots of experienced people here, always ready to lend an ear, don't judge others, give advise, share stories and help ya spend your money!

I was only smoking about 1/2 pack a day when I found vaping. I started with cigalikes too, and although they weren't very satisfying, I found ECF, bought an ego kit, and never looked back. That was over 4 years ago.

I have tried several other tanks, but I am not a sub-ohmer and like to tootle along. Tighter air flow, higher ohms. Kayfuns just work for me. I travel a lot with business and find them easy to maintain in a motel bathroom!

As others have said, there is no right or wrong, it's what works for YOU, that counts.

    Welcome!

After wasting my time (and a few bucks) on the cigalikes went to ego. Neat.
But my first "real" mod was the SVD with an i30 tank. Now, the SVD was the best tasting mod I ever used. Ever. And the i30 was the perfect compliment to it. Sadly the SVD had a bad power button. Didn't last long BUT there has never been anything I've used (including the provari) that even came close to the flavor that combo delivered. And no one has been able to explain to me how! Just doesn't seem possible. Same tank, same juice, same heat... not the same flavor.
