I'm with Gary on this one... Soooooo glad that I'm not a big fan of the ProVaris... sounds like an amazing sale going on. 'Course, it would be nice to pick up a couple to PIF at those prices...... wonder how long I can live on ramen noodles.

Not very.

I've PIF'd a couple to friends/relatives who said they wanted to quit the analogs. Always with a caveat, though: if they went back to analogs, they had to give the mod back. A ProVari deserves better! Sad to say I did get one back, but it's now found its forever home :).

I'm actually betwixt and between on this, and now take a slightly different approach. I'll let someone borrow a mod for a few days, until s/he can go and buy one. I feel like it's maybe better if they have a bit of skin in the game.

Our (best) local vape shop has a Vape Fairy fund to which several folks contribute. It's purpose is to offset the cost of starting, for those who can't gather enough funds to pay the full amount (or who were sold crap by a tobacco store). Mostly, it gets used for enlisted folks from the Army base. Those service men and women get paid bupkes, and far too many of them smoke. It works well :).

Try fig with the pear & honey.

Somehow I missed this post earlier.
That sounds like an excellent suggestion! I'm gonna have to find a fig flavor though... that's one that I KNOW I don't have in my arsenal. :)

LOL! You'd be surprised, Love... ramen can be quite versatile when one puts their mind to it! ;)

I PIF'd a whole bunch of stuff to my SIL a while back... later found out that she tossed all of that and last I saw her she was using a Blu... Kinda wished I hadn't given here that nice charger now...

Hmmmm... now a loaner approach! That sounds like an excellent idea! Maybe I should loan her my Target mod/tank for a week or so... I'm betting that'd get her off the Blu sticks! It's simple and tasty! :D

That is an awesome idea! I think I'll suggest that to my favorite local vape shop next time I'm in there. We don't have a lot of military around here, but I'm sure they could find good people to assist!

oh dang, can't believe she just trashed it all. But if the blu is working for her, that's great.

Yeah, I was a bit upset about that... I told her that she'd just tossed a coupla hundred dollars worth of stuff and she flipped out. She had NO idea... and the Blu is 'kinda' working for her. She still smokes and just vapes it when she can't get to a cigarette at the time... I think I'll borrow LittleBird's idea and loan her the Target and mix up some peaches and cream and maybe some vanilla custard and let her try that for a week or so... Then I'll tell her where she can get a Target of her own. :p

But we DO have a lot of Vets & active National Guard, & Coast Guard, Reserves, etc. All qualify for a discount at most shops, & most of whom started smoking while enlisted. Every b&m should have a program in place to help in some way. I know Vaporsense has several stores around Houston & they have a discount for first responders. The company is owned & was founded by first responders.

The pear & fig idea comes from a cake my Mom has done. Very good together with the brown sugar in the cake. Honey should be good with it, too.

Well, that is true! It's just different from what I'm used to because there is no active duty base here... I guess my thinking is skewed. But you're right, there are a lot of what you said, and a whole lot of first responders. Thanks for the reminders, Kenna! I'm definitely going to bring it up at the vape shop next time I drop by there! :)

I'D BE UP FRONT WITH HER ABOUT HOW SORRY SHE WAS FOR DOING THAT. LOANS ONLY HERE, & I'M REALLY CLEAR THAT I EXPECT THEM TO GET THEIR OWN DEVICES & GIVE MINE BACK IF THEY DON'T CONTINUE TO VAPE OR WHEN THEY GET THEIR OWN.

That's pretty cool, Kenna! I'll look into it. Ours is pretty small scale. We try to gift two setups a month to Ft Belvoir people, and then help another two or three people. No fanfare; it's not about publicity (tho it does engender a lot of good will). We just want people to quit and stay quit -- without resorting to ramen noodles! :). I was the founding Vape Fairy, right after my ca dx. Within a couple of months, a few more Vape Fairies came aboard, for which I am grateful. We leave it to the owners to determine recipients. Patrick & Heather are good and kind people who I trust absolutely. The world is a better place with them in it. :)

Meh... it was mostly just a bunch of Joye 510 stuff, a half dozen eGo batts and toppers, a coupla chargers, and a bunch of juice... stuff I wasn't really using. I do kinda regret giving her the backup Tesla VV/VW mod that I had though... I'd never even used that one. :( I got a feeling she probably sold that one to someone that she worked with, but I'm not sure about that... I doubt she'd have thrown it away though.

I'm pretty sure that if I loan her a mod, that I'd get it back... I just have to make sure that it's understood that it is a loaner.

It doesn't sound like she's committed to putting down the analogs. She already knows & has experienced the better alternatives that you provided her. I wouldn't give her more. Guide her when she is ready to move up, but she has to want to move up. She needs to be invested in that process to stick to it. You know how the mental process works. She's not there yet.
I got 2 Provaries for a niece & nephew to help them out. Over a year ago I gave the niece a 1100mah ego battery. She was vaping some on a 650 mah batt. I gave her the 1100 to tickle her a little because it would last a little longer & impress on her the idea of what more power h longer batt life & backups. So that took care of the dead batt excuse. Every time I've seen her over the time since I let her try what ever mod & juice I had at the time. I tried to expose her to different flavors, different atty's, different mods, in different colors, etc. Anything to get her attention but leading. Not pushing. On her own she started using Nautilus Mini's, & seems to be vaping more often. I think she deserves a reward & a little encouragement. Thus the ever popular Provari. It's purple, recognizable, & bound to get admiring comments from her peers. So she'll vape more to show it off!
I got the other one to encourage the nephew to vape more again. He had a lousy battery vent on him in his mech & put it down. Plus he's an RN at a hospital & his employer has decided vaping looks too much like smoking, so no vaping at work anymore. He aleady has a KFL I gave him to use with his first regulated mod. No excuses to not vape away from work.

Want to let you know I wasn't yelling. [emoji12] I was typing inside the quote & it's hard to see that without changing font colors. I can't do that on my phone! [emoji43]

Trust me, I get what you're saying... and I'm kinda unsure as to how much more I want to help her anyway. She's a bit ditzy and has a super hard time committing to anything... and I mean anything. LOL I might just let her try the Target next time I see her and see how she reacts to it and then go from there. I'm definitely not gonna give her any more stuff until I see that she's going to stick to it for a while.

Sounds like your niece and nephew are doing well with vaping, though. My "getting people to switch" has been much less successful. There's the SIL, and then my boss at work... he still runs an eGo setup, but again only vapes it when it's inconvenient to smoke. Dad started vaping and DIYing his own juice for a while, but he's back on smokes again. A buddy of mine would probably do well with vaping, if I could ever get him to settle on a mod, but that's like trying to nail Jello to the wall... I'll keep pluggin' away at 'em, but it's pretty disheartening watching them keep burning the smoke sticks... But you're right. You can lead a horse to water, but ya can't make 'em drink, right?

Oh, we're good, Hun. I didn't think you were yellin' at me anyway. :) I'm a little thicker skinned than that. ;)

She did the Nautilus on her own. She knew I had started with those, & that I had moved on to other devices & building my own coils. I'm really proud of her for paying attention to what I show up with. She asks questions & when she was ready to move up she gave it some thought & did it. All I've ever given her is an 1100mah ego battery. She's exploring juices a bit more, too. Having done all that on her own is why I got her the Provari. I did tell her I was getting her something that had to do with vaping & gave her a pick of the 3 colors available. She picked purple! So she knows she's getting a purple vapey something. She has no idea she's getting into replaceable, rechargeable batteries! Lol!
