Hi all,
Still trundling along with my vaporfi products, and giving the research a rest. Was making me mental. They still work and while not perfect, I haven't won the lottery. But I 'm now at least 10 weeks off the smokes. All pre made replacement parts and eliquids. Saving up for a coolfire4 or I stick to transition to adjustable. If I switched away from the sub ohm that I started with, what are the differences I'm most likely to notice? Maybe if I'm already used to it, switching over isn't the smartest move. Looking at the conversation, I smoked menthols chain style, and found just menthol pretty satisfying at the beginning. I actually like wintergreen for now, like lifesavers and a little like pepto bismal, lol. But I have to change it up, right now bananas foster( I'm not a banana lover) and caramel mocha are doing it when I need something different, at least once or twice a day. It's strongly suggested not to go over 6 nicotine for sub ohm, but I'm still chain vaping. Anyone else traveling the sub ohm road?

Any chance for a recipe ... sound terrific :nun:

I left my recipe book at home this morning, but I'll grab it tonight and post the recipe for ya, Slots! It's alright, not something that I'd vape regularly, but you might like it. :)

Does the crack leak? If not no sweat

Yep, the crack leaks... thought about patching it with some silicone or something (on the outside of the tank), but probably better to just pick up a new cheap Orchid clone.

No it's not out yet. The IPV Pure is out but have heard mixed things about it like leaking. I see the SX Q is on preorder at Varitube. Same price as the others 200 samolians. Which isn't a surprise but it has the new sx450 board and 200w under the right conditions. 2 18650's. It is a cool looking mod, a little larger then the others. I had planned on getting one when they came out but IDK will wait and see how the reviews go. The SX Pure was supposed to be out by now but maybe they are reading the reviews on the IPV one and making some changes. I'm not sure the reasoning making it so it will only work on a couple mods. The TCR might be so low that it won't work on others. I think the Q will work down to .00001 why IDK that either. The only wire that is available that even comes close to that is Kanthal and it won't work with TC. The higher the TCR the better it works on TC. Ti I believe is .00366 and nickel is .00608 Kanthal is .00002

Yeah, that's my issue with the SX mods... they're all so expensive. I just don't have 200 bucks that I can drop on a new mod every coupla months. I'm extremely happy right now, though. I was gifted the SX-Tmod and it hasn't left my hand since I first loaded it up! It completely fits my style of vaping and I love everything about it. 75W is more than enough power for me. And, being a squonker, it lets me enjoy the RDA so much more than I ever did when I was dripping. I haven't tried a nickel build in it (don't really like nickel), but Ti worked like a charm! Right now, I've got a 26g NiChrome build in it... so much flexibility! :D

Did you try Fastech? They have a lot of replacement tanks. But just finding them can be a real trip!

I've looked around a little. Not really seeing anything for the V2. No big deal, though... next time I order cCells, I may just pick up a newer version. They had quite a few Orchid style tanks for around $10. Just sucks that the tank cracked, I really liked that little atty. :(

Hi @Vape? Not a subber, but you'll be able to vape higher nic and higher PG if you go to coils around 1.5 and up. The nic may be what you're "missing", or maybe the throat hit (TH), and increasing the nic and the PG can take care of that. (As can different flavors, some just have more "tang." ) And you're also likely to go through less juice for the same (or better) effect.

Can't Orchids pretty much use Kayfun parts like replacement tanks? I believe @3mg Meniere is our resident Orchid "expert".

Yeah, but the V2 is an old version and the tank was plastic with threaded ends. There were some Kayfun parts that would work with it, but it's difficult to get a glass tank to work with that version. Looks like I'll just have to upgrade if I want to use the Orchid any more.

@ Vape? Ohms are deterined by the build of the coil. -1.0 ohms is considered subohm. 1.0 & up are above subohm. You can use the same tank, just see if there is a higher ohm coil available for it. Like a 1.5 maybe. You could raise your nic to maybe 24mg/ml & impulse for chain vaping will decline over maybe a month. You may not even notice it at first. But if you are stressed you'll still chain vape a bit. See if thee are higher ohm coils to fit your tank.
Which Vaporfi kit are you using? I'm looking at them online

When I wrap the coils the legs point in opposite directions. It just seems natural to place it this way rather than try to bend the wire to wrap under a screw. The legs are right next to the screw & it just takes a little bend to trap it under the screw & clip it off' turn it around & trap the other leg. When mounting the coil I leave it on a coil wand & set it right on the air hole & hold it there while I trap the legs. Then I use use the wand & pull the coil up a bit off of the airhole. The wick falls to either side straight down to the deck right by the juice holes. All the videos I watched did it this way. Some show some kind of longer wick that lay on the deck & curved acroos the deck h back. That just blocks the juice holes. I just cut the wick so it just touches the deck on both sides. As the wick soaks up juice that little curve at the top expands some, but serves to keep the wick pushed down to the deck & away from the juice holes.

Ok. Thanks. That is how I do the Orchid, just a different angle.

I used to do the Orchid the same way that I do the Silver Play... I actually let the tails go down into the juice channels and then screw on the chimney. I don't know what y'all are using, but I use rayon in all of my builds.

KGD on everything. All my rebuildable tanks are Kayfun Lite Plus v2's.

Yep I know what you mean about the money. I jumped on a deal to get an SX ML for $100 wish I would've grabbed a couple. The thing about the SX's I have 1 that is well over a year old it is an S and my M's are all over a year old they all work like new. The price on the ML should come down as soon as the Q comes out but there are occasional bargains out there.

I chose sub ohm, because of the hype about it being creating more throat hit. I equated more vapour with more power? I can't compare as there are no shops here to trial machines or flavours. So it's all A shot in the dark. I have found a local supplier who'll arrange a time to show me how to use whatever kit I buy. That's a relief. If it gives me enough nicotine and throat hit, and isn't cruddy quality, I don't know think it matters much at this stage, I have no base of comparison except the one I'm using now. Whatever works to keep me off smokes will do. The little one I have feels like I'm trying to suck air through a straw stuffed with cotton. That definitely doesn't work for me. Strikes a real fear into me thinking about any DIY, so am just not going to attempt it.

Thanks, I'm a day late responding.sorry. They only offer .5 and point 2 for the edge. I'm getting by okay for now, the vice kit I got offers both .5 and1.2 . I've actually got the 1.2 coil in, but wasn't getting the same effect. So, at 1.2, how far up can I go on the nicotine?

Good to hear that all of your SX's are still running like new. Everyone I've talked to about them says the same thing... they're durable and reliable. And are also among the most accurate in terms of power and performance. Maybe some day things will settle down with the wife and the medical bills, then I should have a little more "play money". :)

I'm not at all familiar with the equipment you're using, but regardless of that, I think it's important that you use as much nicotine as is needed to make your vaping experience one that FULLY replaces smoking.

Remember, nicotine is NOT a carcinogen. More than 3 years after my last cigarette, I use 18 to 24 mg/ml nicotine and I'm a sub-ohmer, almost always using coils in the range of 0.1 to 0.6 ohms of resistance... sometimes even less.

These cautions that you're getting regarding the level of nicotine you should use may be well-intentioned but they're hogwash. You'll know if you're using too much nicotine when you get light-headed and/or nauseous.
