Not the mods, Wolf, the charger.

Some have pretty strong springs on the sliding contact, and they can snap back when you remove the battery. While sharp edges there would make it more likely, since it's the edge of the slide even if chamfered it could still cause damage.

Hold the bottom tab as Im taking a battery out , as yes it does spring back fast.
Looked at my batteries and I think skin would cut easier than the battery , at least a tear to worry the battery.

Summary: 300 series steels are generally non-magnetic while 400 series steels are generally magnetic. Both are grades of stainless steel. SS atties are generally 300 grade.

More technical: Austenitic steels are non-magnetic, while ferritic and martensitic steels are magnetic. Generally, 300 series steels (304 and 316 are most common) are austentic while 400 series steels are martensitic.
According to the Fastenal article, even the 300 series (austenitic) stainless steels can or do become at least a little magnetic during the cold working that turns the stainless into screws.

I used a replacement screw for the fill hole that came from one of the rebuild kits I got from Fat Daddy Vapes and it's magnetic. Not rusting but, is it really stainless and if so what grade?

Sent with no malice and not a whole lot of forethought from my new Galaxy Tab 4. Thanks Santa!

Matt I couldn't tell one grade of stainless from another except that some rust. So I am not sure how to answer you. Remember I am only a semi techy housewife. hehehehe

Not a bad idea, Kenna. Many of us have done just that. I have 3 full mechs, and a Kick for each since I prefer vaping "regulated". But even in the event that I have to rely on those, if the Kicks die the mech is still fully functional.

And they don't have to be the high end "name" mechs, with the high prices. Heck, one no-name I got for $15, a little telescope with a bottom switch. Springs won't ever be outlawed :) Same with lithium batteries, won't be banned...

I too have two mechs and a kick for both. Hopefully never have to use them but, who knows better to be prepared.

Do the people who made the current ones that require nickel wire know that you can make one for kanthal wire ?

Yes. The DNA40 board is designed for both. It senses what is on it and adjusts operating mode accordingly.

It is not the mods that are tearing mine it is the charger. Nitecore i4 has some stiff springs in the bays that can tear the casing on batteries without trying.

I try to hold the springs down to the bottom of the slot when I take them in and out. Sometimes it slips but not often. I have caught the battery wrap on the edge of the battery tube of my VAMOs sometimes. As the bottom of the tube is threaded the edge can be kind of sharp.

True but from what I understand you can't use temperature control with kanthal, only nickel.

True, when using kanthal it reverts to regular operation just like any other mod. One of the good things about the 40 vs the DNA 30 is that it has step down capability where the 30 doesn't.

Even if you don't like Fox News, this is Greg Gutfield on The Five tearing up the lasest ecig trash report. He waxes eloquent.

Gutfeld: New e-cig study goes up in smoke| Latest News Videos | Fox News

thanks for posting this. I do like Fox.......don't like a lot of crap I see, but they all have a lot of crap. For years I didn't like Greg Gutfeld, but he's mellowing somewhat now, and sometimes is good. Great to see him rip apart one of these bogus studies.

I am hoping Iffy chimes in with what to get and where to get it like he did a year ago. I have had that happen a couple of times and iffy pointed me to this tube stuff that you can rewrap batteries with. It is super easy to do and works beautifully. unfortunately I am clueless where I ordered it from or what it is called as I tossed the packaging.

My AW IMRs seem to be REALLY prone to tears like that. The panasonics not so much.

Here is another place that sells the stuff. Papa's got you covered, but in case anyone else needs it.
Batteries, Chargers, and PowerPax Carriers

AW's wrapping is a little thin while the panny battery is virtually untearable.

You got that right! I've had those chargers jump on me a few times, and I have a couple marks on my pannies, can't call em rips, or tears, it is barely a mark. I maybe should rewrap or replace, but it's just barely there and has been fine.

Unfortunately with my arthritis I can't always do that. :(

jup! they do tend to jump when ya least expect it!

And here is a link to the Evolv website where you can get the real McCoy. They have lowered the price considerably. Scroll down about 3/4 of the way down and you'll find them.

Have you watched I think it is Busardos review of the Vapor Flask. He said the tolerance in the battery enclosures is so tight you have to use a VTC4 or 5 or another one can't remember if it is the pan or the lg. Just no space at all. I don't know if they have fixed that or not.

That was a great video. I'm glad to see someone is putting some of the truth out there. My wife is vaping her 16mg stuff and so far so good. Man I took a couple of hits and I am so used to 2mg I really felt it.

Watched a video of this guy Vaping twisted on the vapor shark dna40.

Had to sigh and roll the eyes when he sets it at 600F. At this point seems like people chasing their tails having things set to their max.
30w mod I'll set it at 30 , 100w mod i'll set it to 100 and so on.
The VG apparently turns to that nasty stuff at around 550F.

Doesn't look appealing atm , apparently very soft wire difficult to use and seems to take 500 wraps for anything over 0.2Ω.
Possibly useful in those prebuilt temp coils that have come out , for people who like the tanks they go in.

The person that made that video wouldn't be called Vee (Vent 'em) Jay would he?
