Folks, I just heard from Caridwin (one of the mods) about closing the old and starting new threads. I told her 'yes, we are aware it needs to be done and have already started talking about it. As you know, Txtumbleweed was the originator of both the thread in the General Forum and the on in the Lounge. He PM'ed me, he would like someone else to take over. So I'm taking that on and asking Iffy to help. I told Caridwin, we work on it the next couple-few days, and let her know when the new threads are open. She will then close the old ones with a link to the new ones.

Here's my thought(s) for the two new threads.

Older Folks and vaping Front Porch - Part 2 <---- for the General Forum
Older Folks and vaping Back Porch - Part 2 <---- for the Lounge Forum

I liked keeping the original name from the general forum and adding "front/back porch" so it would be easier to know where you are - Front Porch for vaping topic, Back Porch for vaping and anything else we'd like to talk about..

I also like putting in a Part 2 just to denote it's a continuation of something else. I like using the same name for the lounge w/ Back Porch because it connects well to the thread in the general forum. And using porch in their names we can just nickname our threads, 'front porch and 'back porch when talking about them.

I'll open the new threads with an introduction and likely take a post or 2 or 3 from the old threads to get them started. Between iffy and I, we'll co-ordinate when the new threads will open and give ya-all a heads up.

So what do you think?

I think the names are great and thanks again for keeping everything moving forward and smoothly.:)

Since we are on the subject of tech support, I too worked in a little company called TigerDirect.com. Prior to working in their website department, I also worked as Tech Support/Customer Service for four years. I will never forget the day a very nice gentleman from the south somewhere called me one day to assist him in installing an nvidia video card he purchased. This is based on a true story...Went something like this............

Southern with a very thick and heavy accent: "now x-aveer...Ive been trying all day to get this card on the slot (loud sound of a heavy hammer or blunt object hitting the card down) and its not working"

Me: ok...do you see the PCI slot on the board
(BAM!!!) "ahh...umm yea I think (bam!!) its not fitting"
me: try not to force it down.
(Bam!!) ....(paused) oh wait....ok...ok...I think I see what went wrong"
me: ok what we need to do is for you to return it back...I'll send over a fedex to pick it tomorrow. Lets do an RMA ok?"
"dam you sure are good X-veerr...I talked to another feller and he just didn't know how this dog could hunt"...

My floor manager was monitoring the call. he was attempting to hold hard his laughter. I always treated everyone I came into contact with as important and needed real help, regardless of what the circumstances were. Of course, this did not please the managers...

"are you crazy...sending Fedex over on our bill to pick up a disaster that a customer caused?"

Funny how people react when you attempt to do the right thing and they slap you on the wrist. if you love someone or something it never gets noticed but if you try any form of hate, then you get the attention.

(tokes on my Vamo and ponders lifes' complete idiocy)

lol. in '72 i worked for a company called Atari that made a silly game called Pong. i got pretty good at fixing the circuit boards, and since we were a small company, i got put on the list to answer TS questions from our largest distributors.

on one call, i expertly diagnosed the problem over the phone down to the particular chip he needed to replace. unfortunately, i used our in-house language-- something like "cut out the chip at A12 and replace it". after the distributor sent the circuit board back, with the offending chip hack-sawed out of the board, i learned a bit more about good tech support :)

I have noticed that it seems the more liquid a tank holds, the more voltage one needs to hit it. And the more voltage used, the hotter things get and the less one tastes anything. Is that an accurate deduction?

I picked up several of those very little vision Nanos to use for trying out new juices to see if I like the juice. I have to say none of my other tanks taste as good as those do (they're just so damnably small....) I even tried putting the same juice in the Nano, the Kanger, and the Ce4.... for taste and temperature and (low voltage/battery lasts longer) the Nano won. And it's the cheapest piece of plastic on the market, lol.... now I'm really confused. Someone said if I get away from clearomizers and into actual tanks, then I will have great flavour with no gurgling or leaking or "hot harsh vapor", but I am worried that dropping money on a larger non-clearo tank will just take me back to needing very high volts (and therefore very hot vapes) to get anything out of it...

I say if you like nanos, use them. I did for quite a long while. Nothing beats dripping for tasting new juices. Once you have used a nano for a juice, trying another in it just doesn't work, unless they are very similar.

I use these: DV BCC Clearomizer are a cool vape, they can be washed, are inexpensive, and coils can be switched out. I actually prefer a warmer vape, but I live in a colder climate.

I would disagree with you. All that needs to be warmed up is the area right around the coil. I just stay with clearos, and an occasional drip. I am satisfied, and figuring out the care and maintenance of cartotanks is not very interesting.

Good morning Good Folks...

Just caught up on the last 100-or-so posts... a lot has happened in a few days!

I think having MikeE3 and Iffy spearhead their respective new threads is a great idea, and I think the Front Porch/Back Porch idea is just right too. Thank you both for your time and dedication.

I like it, but then I'd pretty much go along with whatever was decided as long as I could still come here.

Me too Janet... It's not the thread that counts is it?... it's the people!

amoret, I'm so sorry to hear of your troubles. I really hope you can get things back to normal ASAP! Glad to hear the Red Cross is helping w/ your pets, and that you got your favorite juice back, AND that you didn't smoke through the worst of the ordeal!

Javaboy, hope you get well (and out of the hospital) soon!

Bumpy beginnings hehehehehhehe that is one way to put it. If it hadn't been for Iffy when I was 2 weeks in I might not have made it.

Same here Myrany, and thanks again Iffy... today is #277 for me.

Since we are on the subject of tech support, I too worked in a little company called TigerDirect.com. .......

lol. in '72 i worked for a company called Atari that made a silly game called Pong. i got pretty good at fixing the circuit boards.......

Wow... seems like a high percentage of people in this thread have an electronics/tech background. I've been self-employed as a computer tech since 1987 and been working on computers >33 years now, started at Radio Shack in the early '80s... TRS-80s w/ TRS-DOS, DOS 2.1 on the Tandy 1000, Intel 8088/8086 and the good ol' Motorola 68000 family CPUs... good times!

Good news!... I'm finally getting a decent vape from my Igo-L.... finally sat down with some time on my hands, made a "fair" coil (7 wrap 28ga on a 5/64's bit, 1.7 ohm), wicked it with clean sterile cotton.... and away we go.

Looks kinda goofy on a iTaste VV3, better on the Vamo, and looks great on the Magneto... like they were made for each other. I don't have a Kick, so use a partially depleted battery (4v max) so it won't taste burnt.

Looks like we're in for some snow/sleet/freezing rain today and tomorrow, so if I end up stuck at home with some more time to kill... next up, I'll tackle the RSST! (again) :)

Is it harder for coils to heat up the larger tanks? Those larger tanks seem to hate me, lol. They all work great for a day and then I am sucking ice cream through a straw. I am seriously considering just going back to those little Ce4 disposable tanks which in the long run migh actually be cheaper than buying the nice large ones and not using them.... I want a bottom coil, with a top fill, that doesn't clog itself in one day (I'm a heavy vapor)... Am I the only one who has this problem with the bigger tanks? They just clog up and very little vapor and sucking like hell to get even that??? I've tried putting in a new coil and that doesn't fix it.. once it clogs, it's a doner... Wow - now it won't even crackle at all. Completely dead. That's the second large thank that died on me in one day... I did okay with the Mini IIs... perhaps I should not be greedy and just deal with the smaller portions and the stickyness....

I've never had that problem and haven't heard of anyone clogging one in just a day unless it's a bad one. What exactly are you using and what kind of juice? Is it just personal preference to have a top fill? I thought I preferred top fillers, but I've found the bottom fills to not be a problem at all. I think we need some more info and maybe even a picture if you can manage that.

By all means use the Nano if you like it. In spite of it's small capacity.

Bigger toppers don't necessarily need higher voltage. The voltage / wattage needed depends on the resistance of the coil (and on the coil geometry - i.e. how many turns, how much juice is "exposed" to it), not the size of the tank. Nanos seem to run between 1.8 and 2.2 Ω, so that's the low end for ego type batteries. You don't heat all the juice in the topper, just what's in contact with the coil.

Maybe try a pre-heat? Fire your battery briefly - maybe a second - before firing it to take a draw. Might help.

I'm not expecting anything unusual, will be glad if vapemail comes-- that j-wrap would be great! I need to get busy on working-- a nice big check when I get this book approved and sold would be a great late birthday present.

Happy Birthday! Got my fingers crossed for you to get some birthday vapemail. :)

A jwrap, any vapemail, or a nice big check would all be welcome around here. :D

More good news that I forgot to mention in my last post... my wife (finally) started vaping!!!!

I bought her a pink eVod long ago but she showed no interest, and I didn't press the issue. Early January, I bought two iTaste VV3s and told her the "pearl chrome" one was hers, still no interest. Last weekend she ran out of ginny slim lights late on Sunday with no way to get more that day (we live way out "in the country")... so I fixed her a 10ml bottle with unflavored 50/50 at 12mg using 5 drops of Koolada.

She liked it, and hasn't smoked a cig. since!

This morning, she asked if I'd fix her a second one and put Cappuccino in it... "of course I will honey"! Also put a "quit statistics" app on her smartie phone, and she likes looking at how many she hasn't smoked and how much money she's not spent on cigs... it's a good incentive for her.

She doesn't know it yet, but Sunday night I ordered two more eVods for her, and another Protank 2 and another Sigelei #20 for me. I found the #20 at Desert Vapes for $25. They list it as a #10 on the website, but I called and they said it looked like the picture, so it has to actually be a 20... also noticed they have other Sigs. models mislabeled, but I'm only interested in the 20... like it.
