Yep Semi I know the weather in Korea very well. Was Kunsan an Airbase? I know we had the main radar site in South Korea burn down on New Years day in 1961 and we had to go fix all the telephone lines feeding it and the wind blowing off the Yellow Sea or whatever it's name is, was about as cold of wind as I've ever experienced including being on a fishing boat in Siberia in Jan. I could only stay up on a telephone pole for about ten minutes at a time before my hands and feet were numb. Ah you bring back memories Semi. I haven't thought much about Korea in a while. It sure has changed since I was there in 60 and 61.:2cool:

I missed out on the Korea experence, spent 1960 at Murphy Dome AFS in Alaska instead. We couldn't go outside sometime for as much as a week because of the 100+ mph winds, so I know about how cold a wind can be. But, the road to the Dome was one of the best ski runs on the planet :p

Anyone tried the Mom and Pop Sub tanks?? I ordered a mini-sub to try out. Price is good, and I liked the screw thing for filling rather than messing with pushing the carto up. I've stayed away from the DCT tanks, as I will be using it on the provari. Tried some dual coil stuff on the KGO, but didn't care for it.

Hey Tex I see you got the new LT! I got a version of the old one from Vapornine on Friday and so far I really like the VV experience, but what I haven't experienced is the shutting down of the pv from using a higher resistance carto on it. I get really confused on that stuff but so far it's been great.
What type of resistance did you use with your older LT?
And thanks for doing this! A real shame it's turned out like this but honestly I'd rather not have lines drawn especially when you don't know lines exist. That's all I'll say about it. Onward to infinity!!

I've heard about the LT auto-magically reducing voltage on LR carto/atty if the voltage is set too high. I didn't know they could/would shutdown with HR resistance. I use some 3.5 ohm attys. I'm waiting patiently on a co-op for an LT. Would this be a limitation if using an LT?

Haven't tried one of the mom & pop tanks. I have one of the cheap Smoktech tanks, and don't like it. It is a poor design. The rest of my tanks are J-tanks from electronicstix.com, and they are by far a better tank.

I use the Smoktech tanks cut down to size for using w/ standard 3.0 carto. They may not be top quality but for the price they do me just fine - though I only occasionally use tanks. I have one that is on the loose side and have to be careful with that one. I had the tank in my hand and went to take out the drip tip and it pulled the carto up and - whoops! - yikes! - I had a handful of juice. I now only do maintenance on them when screwed to a batt. But overall I find them acceptable.

I have a stock pile of DC's I should PIF or put on the classies. At first I thought I liked them and stocked up when I found a good sale price. After a little while, I didn't feel I was getting a better flavor or volume of vape but seemed to be going through juice much faster. So I stopped using them.

I use the DCTanks almost exclusively. I have some liquinators and l'il mama's, too. No doubt, they are not the highest quality tank out there, but after running a coop, they were the right price for me, and all are working just fine, never had a problem with them. I vape lots of flavors, and I could never afford to buy all of my tanks at a higher price point. Also, I do like the fact that the newer ones are made from polypropylene, and they will not crack from various juices.

Same here, I cut mine down, too. One solution I have found to the slippery tank issue is to use a fat belly drip tip or any drip tip that the tank can't slide past. That happened to me once, and only once, then I changed drip tips.

I don't care for the dual coils for the same reason.

I don't know why I like the dual coil cartos so much. They do go through juice faster; they do tend to burn. Something about how warm the vape is, and the stiff draw; I just love 'em. It makes no sense, either. With variable voltage, I can't go much past 4 on them, or they'll burn.

I would love to find a single coil carto or something-omizer that I like.

So with VV you should use single coils? Doubles do seem to burn through juice quicker. Still trying to figure this stuff out.

Personal preference. I tried DC's once, and just didn't care for them at all. Sandy really likes them. For me, the only way to figure out what worked best for me was to try different things.

Hey Taxman glad you found us! I usually use between 2 and 3 ohm cartos with the Lava. The version 1 doesn't shut down but if you use LR carto it will reduce the voltage automatically to a lower voltage so it doesn't go above the 2.5 rated Amperage. I use between 2 and 3 ohm cartos and I normally vape them at 3.7 to 4.5 volts. If you want to use higher voltage you need to use cartos above 3 ohm at least I do or it is too hot and burns the juice. The newer LT has a 3.2 A current limit so you can use LR cartos at higher voltages but I personaly don't like that hot of a vape so the V1 works just as well as the new 1.5V. I just got the new one so I can read the resistance of the carto with just a click of the power button.
The L-rider Lambo is the one I'm looking forward to and it won't be available for a few weeks. It is the same as the 1.5 but is chrome and has a really neat 510/ego connection with a spring loaded post so all cartos no matter how long their post is they will fire. If you use lots of different cartos you know how frustrating it is when some will work on a battery and some won't work unless you raise the post.

Sandy have you tried the 1.7 single coil Ressurector or called by different name by different suppliers. It works better for me than the LR duals.

I am absolutely amazed how quickly this thread has grown in just the last few days .. I'm away for a couple days and it's up to 20 pages already .. I don't have anything pithy and insightful at the moment, although I have had my coffee and daily Aleve ..

I'll share this .. when I was in the Army, more years ago than I care to remember .. we had what was known as sea rations back in the day .. way before the current MRE's ... the old school Vets will appreciate this .. and each box contained a package that had a small (5, I believe) pack of smokes .. they were always Marlboro / maybe some PalMals .. I can't remember ..

I remember the c ration cigarettes well. My grandfather worked at a Army base during the Korean War and he bought a bunch of older WW ll rations and each had one of those 5 pk cig in it. He didn't smoke so my brother and I would snag all the cigarettes when he wasn't around.
We had them when I was in the Army too but only got them when we were in the field. I only was in the field on bivouac in Basic Training and then went into the Signal Corp and never was in the field again. It was just like working for the telephone company only lower pay, 76.00 a month for a private.

and they were so stale sometimes they would crackle and burn like a twig .. but when you'd spent every dime you had, they sure came in handy ..
