I've posted this pic before, but just to help with the RSST issues.

This build gave me zero dry hits, no flooding, and tasted awesome... lasted me months with only the occasional dry-burn.

I finally got some more 30g in the other day to mess around with twisting wire. Did a tight two-strand twist with the 30g, and built a dual coil setup on my Igo W. Same inner diameter (paperclip) as my old build (28g) same resistance as my old build (.5 overall) but the flavor has been boosted quite a bit, and vapor seems thicker and more silky if that makes any sense. Very, very impressed. No increase in power, but an increase in performance.

So I wondered what 3 strands of 30g would do, twisted them tight again on the drill, then built a single .5 ohm micro coil (paperclip again) with the result. Coil looks huge compared to a 28g coil of the same diameter, and when glow testing it heated up very quickly, yet stayed red hot for a very long time. I was worried perhaps that would be an issue, but after capping my Kraken and taking a pull i was shocked yet again.

Previously I had a pair of 1 ohm 28g coils in there, now with a single .5 ohm coil of the tripple-30 wire I'm once again getting much improved vapor and flavor without any change in power. I had considered adding another coil in there, but this single .5 ohm coil is outperforming .3 ohm quad coil builds I've done, it's crazy.

This twisted wire is just ridiculous, never understood why people went through the hassle, now I do. There is something truly magic going on here, there is massive amounts of surface area, yet heat-up time is still near instant. Flavor is just crazy saturated tasting and the vapor is unreal compared to the power being pumped in. It's hard to tell if it's just the massive vapor, or something else going on, but the nicotine buzz I'm getting seems stronger and more instant when puffing on this thing.

Additionally, the wire is very stiff, yet still pliable (I know that sounds contradictory) so it's the easiest wire I've ever used for wrapping perfect compressed micros. The pattern the wire makes when the coil is wrapped looks really cool as well, hard to see in my crappy pic. The double strand stuff makes a shredder/meat grinder type pattern, and the triple strand makes a really uniform cross-hatch type pattern.

Just with round wire too... that Mundy guy better lock his doors because I'm gonna bust in and steal all his twisted ribbon! Can't even imagine how great that stuff vapes.

It doesn't happen often, but I love it when it does, when you have that "I get it now" feeling about something. Felt it when I first got into RBAs, then when I got into sub-ohm stuff, and now I feel it again with twisted wire.

If you never tried twisted give it a shot, there is serious magic happening I can't explain, but you'll probably love it (assuming you twist the wire well)

Pic of simple looking, yet awesomely performing build:

I agree twisted is where it's at homie.
I can't go back to vaping a normal coil. Can't do it... Twisted 28 is everything I need and more.
I make other builds on all my other attys to mess around, but, this build stays in my patriot... For good.

Omg, I have been forced to use 32g kanthal in all my builds, well I just done my first build with 28g, 1.1 ohms, no more insane popping, perfect first actual tight wrap I think =] I'm so happy, this makes building so much better, the coil is actually sturdy!

It may not be perfect, but from what I did have is tons of practice with crappy coil lol

Damn that looks like a lot of cotton...how do you get it to wick with that much cotton? What the heck is that atty btw? Is that a genesis or wat?

Wick hole is 4.5mm. Cotton is toothpick thickness below the deck and I keep it thick on top. Wicks like a champ. It's a genesis, TNS by MMVapors.

My first attempt with twisted wire. 3 strands of 32ga kanthal on a 16ga blunt needle. Came out @ 2ohms. I used a dremel cutting wheel attachment to hold the wire (all I could find atm). Tried to go as slow as I could, but still, once the dremel was turned on.. wires instantly snapped

I normally don't torch the wire before wrapping, but that turned out to be quite a challenge with twisted wire... will be pre-torching it next time I attempt this

Also, I'd suggest taking a look at reverse winding the coil. Looking at your first photo, if the top lead went under the needle, and the wrap came back from over the top, it might be a little easier to clear the gap on the negative side when mounting the coil. Might be worth a try at least since it's easy done.

Great looking coil and pictures. Well done.
