@chanelvaps Are you there? I went to Asmodus site. You have to download the updater program first, and it is an .rar file. For that you do need 7zip, or some extraction program. I apologize. I looked at the update files and they were .zip files, and I made a wrong assumption that they all were .zip files (they ought to be, but are not).
Sounds like you have a bad association for zip files.My PC will not let me open this. It tries through Adobe and then says it is not supported. Do I have to download that 7ZIp to do it? Not too much a computer savvy person. Talk to me like I am 4 years old PLEASE
I forgot that you need the Updater 1.1 file out of the V36 update which is in RAR format.
What I have done is package both the updater and the V40 firmware in a self extracting file for you. It's an EXE file but it is safe as I just created it for you.

Download the file and run it, it will create a folder where you ran it from called "Minikin V2-V40 Upgrade".
Inside that folder you will find two files: HW718V40(20171008).firmware & UpgradeV1.1.exe, just follow the Asmodus directions from there.
- Open the UpgradeV1.1.exe to install the upgrading program.
- Once the program is installed a window will pop up called "ASMODUS Upgrade Tool V1.1"; this is the program which will perform the upgrade.
- Remove the batteries from your Minikin 2. With the batteries removed from the device, hold the fire button down and plug in the USB. The screen will state "Download Mode".
- Click connect on the ASMODUS Upgrade Tool.
- Click file and select the firmware update. This is the other file that was downloaded.
- Click upgrade on the ASMODUS Upgrade Tool.
- When the update is complete, a pop up will state "Upgrade Complete!" and the screen on the Minikin 2 will state "Update Ok".

I downloaded 7zip but now cannot figure out how to extract it-edit-going to read the instructions you sent.

Did not go right. I now have 6-7 downloads of Miniken2 with different numbers next to it (6) (1) (2) all of these numbers on some and only a 1-2 on others. I have two downloads of 7zip. Cannot seem to combine them. I think I extracted.....did something and then hit "extract'. Not seeming to connect the two....I will not clog up the thread any further.
Now I know why I have not updated any of my devices.
Do I need to? I mean in the scheme of things..can I just go on like this or will it slow down or anything?

Not a problem.
Yeah makes no sense, they need to haul the Updater out as a standalone file.
I doubt there will be many more updates for the Minikin V2 from them, this latest one was a long time coming.
I think I am looking at the same one with 22mm and 24mm black cerakoted 510 and black switch for $300 in the HEAT group...

I think I am going to make my first custard tonight, I can not imagine letting a juice take 2 months to steep!
Changed coil out for a 7 wrap
My BlackJack is finally ready after a month and a half. I dont hot steep or over shake so all tobaccos are 1-2 months. My custard is good in 2 weeks, much better in a month... I always keep those on hand in large amounts because they take so long.
