That sign wanted to make me cry at once. It coulda been funny if they'd at least done red/green so the colorblind could claim the exemption (sarcasm). But I somehow seem to manage to think that uh, black lives matter doesn't actually exclude any other race except unless it's some "focus" thing where the racist is like, "Reverse racism, I mean, like cuz white's not up there it's racist too?"

At which point I would be at pains to point out that the white IS all up there, all you know, unnoticed and totally normalized on the WHITE sheet of PAPER.

And the racist would be like, "MIND.BLOWN." Or like, "F off, colors don't mean anything and then PC Principal would give me a sticker, aggressively or something.

LOL, that sign's a lot more complicated than it looks.

You and my brother . Y’all even have matching gold tops! What y’all don’t realize, is what a true gift it is to be able to play by ear. I think most adept players can watch someone play and catch the fingering, but to hear it and be able to do that takes someone like y’all that has “The Gift”. Just my :2c:

I hate to derail a thread, but I guess shinyitis applies to instruments, too. I'll quit the music stuff after this post. Promise...

I started a musician thread on ECF way back. It's not as busy as it used to be, but there's lots of pictures of ECF members and their setups. This is my music room upstairs.

Musicians check in here. If you play, tell us about it!

I always sat in front of a stereo speaker and listened to songs intently. I'd stop and lift the tone arm and try to play the riff, then listen again to pick up what I missed. There were no charts for pop and rock music back them and there was no YouTube. You just had to put your ear in front of the speaker and listen until you got it.

My skills were boosted when a bass player in my first band at age 15 told me, "You only use three fingers to play lead. You're good doing that, but if you want to be really good you need to use all four fingers. I told him, "I can't. My little finger is too weak!". He said, "That's because you don't use it."

I was out of excuses at that point, so I started running finger exercises. He was right and it got stronger. I got at least 25% better with 4 fingers than when I was using 3.

Not mine, but my brother’s. This is what he “admits” to having. What my SIL doesn’t know/pay attention to... there’s more in hard shells, a few upstairs, some at the studio... but he “needs” each one. I can’t say a thing, I’m afraid he’d empty out my vape closet to make a point about “need”.

Do you cross pick?

I was a violinist. That cursed little finger.

Also, you have to practice enough that you routinely grow and shed callouses like you're a rock climber or a construction worker of some sort, and occasionally, bleeding happens. LOL.

I don't play anymore so I'm not on that thread, but man, my little bro was teaching me the guitar and I was like "I don't think that I can LEARN any skills besides the violin, or any instruments either" but I found that actually with a good teacher and by brother is GOOD, I found I could get rather competent with the whole thing because it's like you have these awesome things called frets, that mostly work in YOUR FAVOR, oh, except when they don't. It was like Suzuki ALL over again where they used to tape up where all your fingers should land and etc., only I don't believe in that method, I think it's a crutch and ALSO, like you ain't supposed to be LOOKING at your fingers, man, dude, it's not really where you need to focus also why not learn to play in tune from the very beginning.

I also don't play the guitar anymore either because I like to Not Suck at Things, and I don't have the discipline to PRACTICE HOURS daily like I used to or felt I was supposed to, although it's nice to be able to whip out a guitar every now and then and amaze some folks with the odd chord or two, but I don't find the time and energy to play the violin like I did, and it's just a sad reminder that yes, once you could play a lot of music that there is NO way in hell you can ever play again. Except Mozart. Once you learn a Mozart violin concerto once, it's so laughably easy but also pleasant, musically, you can usually pull it off, but say, the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto in D major? Yeah, I could barely play that sucker when I was practicing like 8 hours a day, and quite frankly I kind of wish I had been like, a hindu goddess with six arms, NOT to improve my SKILLS in any way, but more so that I could cover my OWN ears and also, freaking cover my face in shame. LOL.

Cool pics, however.

I sort of wish I still had my violin not so I could post pics or play it, it's just my mom made me give it, well she guilted me into giving it to my little brother after he became the designated concert artist after I was like, "Mokay I got in to Julliard like you told me but this unexpected wrinkle came up where I want to go to a normal college like everyone else and also become an alcoholic."

Well, there was no way THAT was gonna pass without a fight, but unfortunately that sucker is worth about 60K NOWADAYS. My little brother who did go to music school NEGLECTED it inn Tucson AND let it dry out enough that it got cracked. I almost PUNCHED him that day, that he showed me I was like feeling a LOT at him like probably my mom was at ME like YOU CENSORED CENSORED!!!

But yeah, HE is now selling it to become a hermit living off the land. Etc. Apparently, being a musician doesn't work out too well in our family. LOL.

I’m really enjoying the Nudge 22. The flavor is intense!!! It’s now become my favorite single coil RDA. It’s got as much flavor as my go to every day RDA- my Kennedy clone. I think I’ll have to get another one for a regular mod. Now what color should I get lol!

I call that double picking, if that's what your term means. Yes, Up and Down, instead of down, down, down. It's a good way to double your note count in a riff if your fingers can keep up. Eddie Van Halen is a good one to watch for tips.

Your brothers collection looks just like a music store!
