I was a violinist. That cursed little finger.
Also, you have to practice enough that you routinely grow and shed callouses like you're a rock climber or a construction worker of some sort, and occasionally, bleeding happens. LOL.
I don't play anymore so I'm not on that thread, but man, my little bro was teaching me the guitar and I was like "I don't think that I can LEARN any skills besides the violin, or any instruments either" but I found that actually with a good teacher and by brother is GOOD, I found I could get rather competent with the whole thing because it's like you have these awesome things called frets, that mostly work in YOUR FAVOR, oh, except when they don't. It was like Suzuki ALL over again where they used to tape up where all your fingers should land and etc., only I don't believe in that method, I think it's a crutch and ALSO, like you ain't supposed to be LOOKING at your fingers, man, dude, it's not really where you need to focus also why not learn to play in tune from the very beginning.
I also don't play the guitar anymore either because I like to Not Suck at Things, and I don't have the discipline to PRACTICE HOURS daily like I used to or felt I was supposed to, although it's nice to be able to whip out a guitar every now and then and amaze some folks with the odd chord or two, but I don't find the time and energy to play the violin like I did, and it's just a sad reminder that yes, once you could play a lot of music that there is NO way in hell you can ever play again. Except Mozart. Once you learn a Mozart violin concerto once, it's so laughably easy but also pleasant, musically, you can usually pull it off, but say, the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto in D major? Yeah, I could barely play that sucker when I was practicing like 8 hours a day, and quite frankly I kind of wish I had been like, a hindu goddess with six arms, NOT to improve my SKILLS in any way, but more so that I could cover my OWN ears and also, freaking cover my face in shame. LOL.
Cool pics, however.
I sort of wish I still had my violin not so I could post pics or play it, it's just my mom made me give it, well she guilted me into giving it to my little brother after he became the designated concert artist after I was like, "Mokay I got in to Julliard like you told me but this unexpected wrinkle came up where I want to go to a normal college like everyone else and also become an alcoholic."
Well, there was no way THAT was gonna pass without a fight, but unfortunately that sucker is worth about 60K NOWADAYS. My little brother who did go to music school NEGLECTED it inn Tucson AND let it dry out enough that it got cracked. I almost PUNCHED him that day, that he showed me I was like feeling a LOT at him like probably my mom was at ME like YOU CENSORED CENSORED!!!
But yeah, HE is now selling it to become a hermit living off the land. Etc. Apparently, being a musician doesn't work out too well in our family. LOL.
