I did try rayon. But I found the whole having to thin the tails, and getting it really tight in the coil, plus then the priming it to get rid of the taste - meant it took me 15-20 minutes to rewick instead of 5 or 10 with cotton. I may try it again one day, but for now I'm a happy ocd cottonati
So is wicking your coil in an rta as big of a PITA as it sounds. It seems like everyone has all these different methods and you have to do it just right otherwise it doesn't work well. It seems like it is a bit complicated.

For me, it depends on the rta. I tend to stick with the ones that don’t mind if I just cram some wick in, trim and go. The picky ones have been PIFed or relegated to the stash box. Certainly there are finicky ones that require just the right amount of wick, trimmed just so to avoid dry hits or leaks...I’m usually in too much of a rush to hassle with those. But, there are those who do enjoy the challenge.

That is what I am hoping for. I was focused on buying RTAs that people said were easy to build on. I don't know if "easy to build on" means just easy to put the coil in, or if it also means easy to wick. I hope it means both.

It's easy to roll up a coil and pop it in any RBA.

Wicking takes a minute to get it right. If it's too tight in the coil - dry hits. Too loose and it may flood the deck. After you do it a few times it becomes a "feel" thing.

You want to feel some resistance in the coil when you move your wick side-to-side. Don't want it too loose or too tight.

The only time coiling and wicking is difficult, is only when it's your very first time. After that, you quickly figure out what you are doing

Plus the tails of the wick can't be too long or too short. Or too thick or too thin. It's like a Goldilocks situation.

And then I saw that if you use rayon, you want it thicker because it shrinks down or something. My brain hurts.

True and maybe. It really depends on the RTA. With some RTA's I trim the hell out of the tails while others I don't.

Right. Cotton expands while rayon shrinks down. You use approximately 1/3 more with rayon (thickness).

Do you consider cotton or rayon easier to wick? I would prefer to start with the easiest option.

The delivery person is probably taking a scenic trip around SoCal with a detour to the Red Marlin for dinner down in Mission Bay SD. That's what I would do. ;)

The fastest shipping, with no delays, that I've experienced during the pandemic has been DHL and FedEx. After reading JC's post it's back to DHL for me. Unlike USPS they get the job done super fast. Never had any package lost with either. :D
In France I use the France express epacket but it can still take quite a long time. It states ten to thirty days but often comes before the thirty days. It's by no means fast though and costs me an extra two dollars. I don't have an option like the one you've been discussing only the hugely expensive DHL options.

I'm an ocd rewicker - as soon as there's a lil bit of carbon? I rewick  Which is a major reason I prefer bf RDAs and squonking - stuff, cut, squonk ;)

However, now that I'm squonking in the morning and using RTAs in the afternoon, I'm actually rewicking a lot less. It's possibly due to the RTAs I'm using.

I've had my Juggerknot mini for over five days now, and I went to rewick it yesterday - thinking it would be black (I have been chainvaping the hell out of it). But it was still really clean. @Letitia and Mr @Fredman1 is it a cleaner RTA than others?

The Tripod RTA I've rewicked a few times to try out different things. But it also seems to have cleaner wicks than it should. I wicked it today slightly looser in the coil - OMG  It just went up another flavour notch. And it was more airy with a loose coil. WIN WIN :D

Any of you have cleaner wick RTAs than others?
All my Dvarw's stay amazingly clean unless there's a misplaced coil leg problem or cotton imbalance. I'm always really impressed too. Let's face it there has been so much time to hone rta design that most of them have cracked it by now. Of course it also depends on the juice you're running.
