Something like the Coppervape Hussar project x clone i have I would perhaps consider intermediate, but only because some people seem to have problems with it, although atm I can't figure out what anyone finds difficult about it.
I don't understand why anyone finds the X difficult, or has problems, with it. But I know we're all different and for whatever reasons some just do. I suppose it's like any other in that regard. The Project X is much like Hussar's v1 and v2 rda's. The build decks on all three are nearly identical. Wicking is exactly the same on all three.

Oh yeah... betcha I'm dumber!!! I know I am not the brightest bulb nor the sharpest knife.

And I forgot to mention last night that I ran into a parked car with my bike as a kid. I obviously was not paying attention. The car won, didn't budge. I ended up on it's trunk, bruised and battered.

When it comes to your preferred wick (and we all have one) your going to want to try them all. That's what I did.

I purchased three different kinds of cotton and had another given me, and a small amount of rayon to try..

For a while i found I was absolutely stuck on Japanese organic cotton for RTA's, and Native wick platinum blend (cotton) for RDA's... then I picked up what puts all to shame - Fuzion cotton, and I love that in both RTA's and RDA's equally. It's just the perfect vaping cotton all the way around. (I hated rayon, and cotton bacon)

You'll like to do the same experiment. People here can send you samples of what they use, so you can make your own choice of your own favorite wicking material. Some people like cotton bacon, yet I couldn't give that stuff away fast enough.. lol. others are so stuck on rayon it's unreal (have no idea about some people.. lol)

So just try everything, find your favorite wick... once you find the wick you feel delivers fine flavor for you and is easy to work with in your RTA's, (or RDA's if you will) you'll know it well enough to work with it.

For me, I had some failures when I first built... some fairly serious ones. I tried twice to build a Kayfun 2, and it was dumping juice out of the airflow holes as fast as I could put it in, and I checked and everything seemed right.

After two such occasions I gave up, put it aside for 3 or 4 months then when I picked up a Kayfun 4, I decided I wasn't going to stop until I learned. The Kayfun 2 was an inexpensive clone, whereas the 4 was authentic so I was being hopeful the error wasn't with me...

So, in comes the most difficult RTA man ever created, the Kayfun 4... and with sheer determination I finally got that thing down pat... I learned how to build. (Yea!)

Because I learned how to build and wick on the most difficult RTA, there's nothing that's difficult for me now. Pretty much everything is easy.

I will say when I say something is easy, I usually mean beginner easy. The Gear is the perfect beginner RTA to learn how to build on, so is the Siren v.2 or any RTA with a suspended deck (RDTA)...

What your looking for is something that has a roomy enough deck, that's virtually leak-proof.

Once you have the easier RTA's down you can branch out. OR, you can choose a difficult one... then all else that comes after will be a breeze. Up to you.

It can be very easy to learn, often some people get it bang on their first try... others, get it after two or three. But don't sweat it... Buy something like the gear to start, I absolutely consider that an easy beginner RTA...

Something like the Coppervape Hussar project x clone i have I would perhaps consider intermediate, but only because some people seem to have problems with it, although atm I can't figure out what anyone finds difficult about it. I've never read anyone have issues building the gear and for me it's just a pleasure...
Why is the KF4 hard to build? Aside from all the parts, that is.

In France I use the France express epacket but it can still take quite a long time. It states ten to thirty days but often comes before the thirty days. It's by no means fast though and costs me an extra two dollars. I don't have an option like the one you've been discussing only the hugely expensive DHL options.
The 3 dollar Australia Expedited Air option has been a revelation. I only started using it from FT when Covid hit and the epackets started taking months. Really interesting what @JCinFLA posted about the US version. That makes a lot of sense because the labels on the Aus version look fresh and don't have the "metal tubes" description. I plan to keep using it - less than 2 weeks most times shipped to door.

Thanks for passing that on Letitia. Col's a good man and sorely missed
He simply despises drama and ill intent posts. Same reason I seldom catch up these days either. Those of you I love hopefully know who you are.

I never found the K4 hard to build, use or maintain (i did have 2 in rotation). I just out grew the airflow even with the 4s airflow kit.

That's it.. it's all the parts. Once you have it fully apart, getting it back together correctly is a feat in and of itself...

Lol.

I don't think building it is hard in and of itself. Once your used to it it's easy. Once you can build it there's nothing impossible or difficult to build.

My last FT order is officially in!

I ordered another project x clone, an Ares 2, I'm joining the Brunhilde crew, got a Tripod, a Nibiru, and a dwarv...

There. Done forever. :)

DHL express... hopefully it will get here in plenty of time.

Oh, good. I had always assumed it wouldn't be any harder to build than the KFL+ or the KFL19, but your earlier post worried me. Between this latest and @TrollDragon's, I am reassured.

    Morning shinies ;)

It might not be hard for you. But there is one thing you need to understand. I am a very dumb person.

BTW: Your sense of humour is very refreshing  A lot of us who are building RTAs now are really just tweaking/fine-tuning what tastes fantastic, into what tastes incredible.

My first few RTA wicks looked like absolute crap. BUT they vaped absolutely wonderfully. And those that didn't were easy to fix: if I got a dry hit, I used less cotton. If it was leaking, I used more cotton. 9 times out of 10 - my beginner wicking worked just fine
