So had to really stock up on juice because my supply was running low. Ordered 650ml which should keep me going for the next 2-3 months. Also stocked up on quite a few ice cold menthol flavours should this heatwave get any worse. Got on an awesome bargain on the charlie's chalk dust Pacha Mama, was only 49p per 10ml bottle due to old stock, so got 200ml worth. 6mg rather than my typical 3mg but I'll just stick it in a MTL rta for when I need a stronger fix. :)

And I keep looking at mechs again. Such crazy prices for the ones I think look gorgeous. I really should get myself some willpower.

Nope and it sucks when it's this hot....we went down to price up a wall mounted unit with the external pump this morning and we'll probably go for it. I used to be fine but the meds I take seem to have changed my body's ability to deal with the heat...

France beat the record for the hottest day ever (for june) yesterday it was 46 degrees which is around 115 F......too hot

Get the ac and stay safe!

I recall several years ago a heat wave hit Paris in August when only the elderly were home with most folks on vacation. No one there had ac and there were several hundred deaths among the home bound. So please stay safe.

I take meds that don't mix well with heat, and kidney problems where dehydration can really screw things up. I have central ac but clearly can't hide inside all the time so I carry a minimum of a liter of water with me whenever I'm out and about, 2L if it's a long day, especially using the subway, as stations are not air conditioned and temps down there can be 10 to 25F warmer than the street. Also all the concrete means radiant heat lasts all night.

Can the Doggy lie on its side without leaking?

Only if the doggy is paper trained.

Thanks Eskie...You may be referring to the 2003 heatwave which hit country wide. Over 25 000 people died so the government are really hot on the warnings and such these days. That's with a population of around 65 million.

Yes, hydration is really important and food too as the sweating gets rid of your sodium and salts. I always have the rehydration salts sachets in the med cupboard just in case anyone gets heat exhaustion but as long as you're sensible it should be ok...

I must admit the current heat is not particularly enjoyable....but heey it's better than freezing cold and rain :)

Gah. Notes time. I have never started notes this early.

Of course l have never had THIS many to do. It will be a miracle if it happens (all of them.)

I need to channel my inner dead stepdad who (he and I once worked together, he like, had the worst case of untreated ADHD I have ever seen, I figured the day would come but not the MAGNITUE of it) I did 75 clinical packets (about 27--50 pages each in like 3.5 days. I was not stealthy because my stepdad could not keep his mouth shut. So, I did it all "Secretarial" and protected myself by emailing MY supervisor AND his constantly (it was their freaking idea) so if I went down, they would too. I need a secretary clearly too bad I am IT although it is sounding more manageable now I better get gone before that effect dissipates.

That's what I recall. I didn't remember just how terrible the death toll was. As much as freezing rainy is miserable, far more people die from heat waves. Even in the US where ac is extremely common unless you live in a really cool mountainous area, there are still several thousand heat related deaths a year, unlike in winter when isolated deaths make the news but the heat related deaths are so common they're not commented on with headlines.

The ones that are really sad are people leaving their kids in a car while running an errand not realizing it can hit 140F I'm 10-15 minutes in hot weather sitting in the sun in a parking lot. Lots of pets lost that way too. People are a lot more likely to intervene as soon as they see that situation as it's such a tragic event for simply not thinking.

I'll take freezing cold and rain any day. (Fun MS fact: Signals downright stop being able to travel along nerves when one gets too warm, so I literally cannot move when I'm overheated.)

That's good news about the Doggy, @bigbob2322! I think it looks delightful on the Provari 2.5, but there's no way I can keep that thing standing on its end.

Yes heat seems to get left out when it comes to ''health issues I should know about'' Heat needs to be treated with respect and everyone should know how to deal with heatstroke.

Downeast Maine is pretty cooperative on that front. Unfortunately, though, I'm partial to very hot baths, but I just stay in the tub till the water cools off.

You'd be doing well if you could ;) and yeah, I've had the doggy rta in all sorts of positions and places and pockets and bags and never had an issue :thumb:

Progress! This started as an open, covered porch on one end of the back of the house. Himself built the louvres, walls etc. I’m the hired hand/mitre saw operator and chief painter. Outside siding and inside bead board are painted (whoop whoop). Tomorrow we can start painting the trim . (Excuse the poor gardenia in mid prune.)6415C36B-5726-4B6C-93F6-F0DF8BA0336C.jpeg I’m starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel! Well, except then I need to paint the house. Trusty little Frenzy has been great for this... easy to pocket, not heavy, enough battery to last a bit. Temp control coil is the way to go though, no oops empty tank moments!

Looks great, I love it. I really wish my porch was screened to keep the bugs from devouring me.

You're going to be so happy to have it when it's done. The pain of its birthing will fade away into dimness, just like the memory of labor (or so I'm told).

Just think of all the shinys you will get away with buying as 'payment' for your labour :w00t:

Meant to ask earlier - how are you liking the rebuildables compared to your zenith?

Not shiny related, but since this is also a turtle thread...:D

There was a big turtle standing on a dirt road at the facility I work at. I pulled over and picked up the turtle and moved it to the tree line. He looked scared, and had a lot of dust on his shell like people were driving by too close to him. Felt good to help him. I assume he moved into the woods because I didn't see him later that night. It looked like a spotted turtle which is on the "threatened species" list here. :thumb:

Well, my brother has taken my mother overnight ... so I decided it was time to actually try something on my Inbox panels. Here's the before shot:

    before.jpg

Then I lightly sanded them, mixed up my resin and colors and tried a dip -- should be touchable tomorrow:

Then, I pulled out my guitar, grabbed a Peanut Butter Stout from the fridge (father's day gift), and will now make some noise ...
