Well after a very unsatisfying nap I decided that despite my decision to stash the RAM, I decided to put it into rotation.

What, you're surprised?

So I stuck a Recuve with a 6-7 wrap simple 26G in it, came in at 0.5 ohm (must have got the wrap count right). The problem for me with the Recurve is I usually like a contact coil, but with simple round wire the holes on the deck are too far apart. Works fine with a Clapton or whatever but not a little coil without making all sorts of funny bends in the legs which I have little patience for. The chamber is a little big for a simple coil, but otherwise it vapes fine.

As to the RAM, it works fine. I watched that review by the Biking Vaper and found a few disagreements with it. First, I don't find the button too hard to touch, and I don't have super strong hands. It's as easy as a Pulse BF. I also found with the standard 24 mm cap on the Recurve there is no overhang. It's right to the edge but you sure can't see it or even feel it if you run your fingernail up the side (without scratching anything after all the time polishing) so I've got to say that's not an issue. The 510 inside isn't wobbly, the button makes a solid contact, and the 510 pin is good with solid contact so no leaking thus far and the atty sits flush, no gap. It looks like a tiny gap if you blow up the photo, but in normal conditions my eyes can't see it (so much for my vision without reading glasses). Glad I bought it before watching the review. A score at any of these clearance prices, so yes, I recommend it, especially if you want to polish it.Here it is in real world use.

Sorry it's a bit blurry, but we'll get to that next.

As long as I was messing around, I decided to make that little video for sourcemore as I haven't heard back from them since their last we'll get back to you email. Put a well saturated atty on top, propped up the phone and spent 10 minutes figuring out how to keep it in the view while not holding the phone, Stuck the battery in, all nice and charged. No autofire.

Tried it again. No autofire. A third time, nope, all good. Five clicks on and fires when you press the button and stops when you release it. Five clicks off. Fourth round and let it sit with the battery. Turned it on and off a few times. Reinserted the battery. Nope, no autofire. Now I don't know what to do. I know the button was covered at all times when I sanded and waxed it. I'm sure because it's dull around the button where I couldn't get to it.

All I can think of is something got into the button during my beauty treatments, maybe the orange oil wax that was fairly thin and runny (and flammable according to the bottle which surprised me until I smelled the terpenes that had to be in it) and a little got in. Now I'm not sure what to do.I'm not sure I can really trust it, but it's all prettied up and seems OK. Maybe just only use when it's right next to me? Kinda annoying, but I'll feel silly sending it in to Asmodus and paying for shipping there and back for them to see a normal mod. Now I'm stumped.

Anyway, after all that I was too ...... to take a really careful pic of the RAM I'm happy with, so that's the pic I've got and I'm not doing it again.

@Eskie , nice review on the RAM. :thumb: All very good to hear. Sometimes I wonder with YT reviewers. Everything I read in "other" reviews after watching VB's video was very positive. I scooped up two and wish they would get here already.

Good to know on your Luna. I hope it was just a glitch for you. Mine have had no issues.

I’m beat, going to bed as soon as I get my dogs taken care of.

The meals on wheels guy found my mom on the floor, and apartment manager called to say EMS was there. They took her to the ER, where we’ve been all day. No broken bones, fortunately. They checked her out, and finally sent her home.

We hung around and got her fed, and into bed. Hopefully she sleeps straight through.

I have to go over first thing in the morning so I’m tucking in early myself.

G’night all.
I'm glad they found nothing major with your mom. Hopefully she gets a good nights sleep and is ok.
Take care of you too. Sending good vibes your guys way.

Uhg @ local news picking up the story of these 100 people getting a "vaping related illness". Every ignorant single celled citizen in the area spouting nonsense. One even calls it "smoking".

Facebook is a cesspool. Granted one I limitly participate in, but a cesspool just the same. If it weren't the easiest way for my tech stupid mother to see her grand-daughter than I'd never use it again.

Waiting for them to bang their clubs on the ground and grunt their replies.

Some are suggesting they bought and vaped the stuff we don't mention here off the street.
BS they're lumping it in with actual vaping as we know it.
Anything to further their anti vaping agenda/propaganda I guess.

Good morning shinies :)

@smacuser I'm not a lady but good to see you all the same.

@Fidola13 just won my first ever Provari it's a P3 and is in the post as we speak. I might try and complete the collection with the others but they seem to be getting scarcer and scarcer.

What “others” were you referring to? Different model Provaris?

And the seller of the one I didn't get today has put up another at the same price. Hope abides.

Which one are you looking for? A mini? Because I bought one and decided it’s not enough ooomph for me. I can’t remember at the moment which one it is. I think brushed silver. Send me a pm if interested.

Living through you folks.
Had shiny money, spent it on a new ssd. Wasn't cheaper but...geek is as geek does.

Do need juice though.
Still chasing the perfect one? What was it again...a strawberry something? I'm remembering a coffee or chocolate something maybe too?

I’ve missed a few days - what are these RAM boxy things? Squonkers? I’m really not particularly fond of that square form. It doesn’t feel comfortable to me to hold either. I prefer mods that are more curved to the fit of a hand holding it. If you know what I mean. But they sound like quite a deal!

I haven’t bought anything shiny in a couple of weeks now. I wouldn’t mind getting some vape mail but I’m still learning how to use all the mods I bought during my mod mania month lol!!! I’ve got mods I haven’t even opened the boxes yet. Although to be fair it’s hard to get excited about a lot of my “older” mods when I’ve just bought so many beautiful stabwood, SX and Provari mods. Plus I’ve got way too many RBAs I need to figure out which I’m going to keep, stash, sell or pif.

Still wouldn’t mind some vape mail though and no consumables don’t count. I believe that was decided upon at the start of this thread unless that was changed. If it has changed then I did get more batteries. But honestly imo I don’t think consumables should count as Shiny products. I guess it would depend on the definition of what a Shiny is.

    Sleep well.

Regarding the Luna, and yes you also made me want a Ram ;)

I understand completely that you are once bitten twice shy, with the auto-firing. If it was me, I'd put it on light duties for a few days - battery in while you are using it, and in the room. Battery tab either unscrewed slightly or battery out otherwise.

    A Ram is a male sheep ;)

And a resin squonker. Drip tips count as Shiny - I spent two hours  yesterday looking at them all on FT. Inexpensive, bling for your buck. Opening unopened shiny boxes is also just as good as receiving new ones - sleep well

    Good morning shinies :)

@DeloresRose that's really not a good day in my book. Sending calming thoughts and hoping that sleep was possible

@Eskie that's very good news about the Luna. I'd say that a wet contact under the switch was the culprit. When I got my first one polished I did a lot of it by hand on my desk with quite a a bit of water so a mixture of water and stabwood dust got into the indicator light. That hasnt worked since  I've tried to gently clear the hole but I don't want to be too brutal in case I damage any chip electronics... The mod works like a charm though and actually I'm not a fan of mosfet lighting :)

    Morning all.

Thanks for all the well wishes, gang. We have a rep from Senior Services coming tomorrow to talk us through the process for getting her into assisted living or nursing care, whichever she is determined to need.

She wanted to stay in her own apartment as long as possible and that went fairly well for a while, but I think she knows it can’t go on much longer.

I’ll head over as soon as I’m showered and my tummy settles down. None of us had eaten so I stopped by Burger King on the way back from the hospital.

I tried the Impossible Burger. Whopper combos were $5, mine was $9. If you didn’t know it wasn’t meat, I bet you’d think there was something a little off with the burger, but I doubt you’d notice it was a veggie burger. Very close in looks and texture and flavor.

I don’t think the veggie part is what is giving me trouble so much as I haven’t eaten BK in years. You really ought to build up immunity to that kind of gut abuse.

I still have about a half dozen FT orders somewhere out there, blowing in the wind, but I bought a Zeus single and some spare squonk bottles for the Rams. I’m using one with the included PET bottle and it squeezes okay, but they don’t seem like they’d last long.

Good morning shiners! @DeloresRose I hope things work out for you with your mom. It does sound like her remaining in her home alone is becoming impossible for her safety. I hope any changes go smoothly.

@charlie1465 it could be. The problem I have is trust. And that's compounded by the lack of any venting (except maybe through the button). If it autofires in my pocket or even if I step out of the room for a little while, things don't end well. I really feel too concerned over using a mod that autofired like that, even if it turns out to be an intermittent or only occurred that one time problem. It's a personal thing, but once a mod misbehaves like that, I just can't have trust in it, even if it seemed to work fine for a few days or even weeks. That one failure not in my direct line of sight could become very nasty very quickly, and I don't fee like sitting around with one eye always on the mod to make sure it doesn't misbehave.

But that's my personal risk level, and you're right, use under observed conditions could be an option, but it's not one I want to live with. Anyway I'm still waiting on word from sourcemore, so maybe it'll be resolved. If not, sending it back to Asmodus might still be worth the shipping costs just to have them take a look inside and inspect it before I trust it.

Either way kinda sucks as it's such a beauty of a mod. But looks don't trump safety for me. Hopefully I'll have a solution in a few weeks and be back to enjoying a Luna.
