I found a new way of using this chain on the circle pod.

You are explaining this well, I am just dumb. I don't get how the drop in coils used to use would be different. If they were low resistance, like 0.25 then it was listed at higher wattage than a coil that was 0.5 or 1.0.

I was just as 'dumb' when I got into coil building. At first I went purely by resistance as that was what I was used to, coming from Zenith coils. And yep, in drop-in coils generally the lower the resistance, the more wattage you use.

In terms of building a single coil, Kanthal has the highest resistance, followed by Ni80 and then ss316L. There's plenty of other metals we can use, but these are the three main ones.

As you already know, 28g and 26g are better for lower wattage vaping. Here's some examples:

All coils have a 2.5mm id and 6 wraps, and I've linked them to Steam Engine.
    ka1 28g = 1.2Ω
    ni80 28g = 0.8Ω
    ss316l 28g = 0.6Ω
All 3 have a similar heat capacity, and suggested wattage despite the differences in resistance.

Until I got into building for an unregulated mod, I just threw the coil's resistance out the window - and focused on heat capacity instead

I always just choose the thinner wire options for faster ramp. Saves me having to fool with the wizard.:D
You can also put no thought into it with a regulated mod and it will still work. I'm stuck on 24G and the biggest coil I can fit.

Pita of a day at work, thankfully I was so busy time flew by fast. Relaxing with a lovely hot chocolate spiked with digiorno salted caramel + a couple drops of MF caramel + a healthy dollop of cream. Perfect ending to the day. Might have to try creating mix.

If you have a bulkier coil. (Thicker guage) then it will also read lower but take more heat(wattage) to function as expected.
So if I make a 30g coil and a 24g coil with the same resistance respectively I'll need a lower wattage setting for the thinner guage coil to give me a similar end result as the 24g coil.

I appreciate you all helping me understand this stuff a bit better. I spent so many years using regular drop-in coils and mostly in direct lung tanks. So I still had it in my head that low ohms = high wattage. But drop-in coils and wrapped coils are very different from each other.

@AngeNZ, you mentioned that you didn't care about resistance until you started using unregulated mods. Why is that? I only use regulated mods, but I wanted to use the right wattage because I figured if I didn't I would burn or mess up my coils.

A salted caramel hot chocolate sounds really good right now.

One of the main perks with rebuildables is the ability to change your wick if you go to high on wattage. Almost impossible to ruin the wire, just the wick.

I guess I thought you could mess up the wire too. Good to know that is not a problem.

@Redbird11 I realised that recently also since I am newbie...the resistance don't matter cause we use regulated mods Soo all we care is heating surface of coil to produce more vapor and flavour and heat capacity for see how hot our vape will be...
Ofc I don't want to go to 5ohms but yeah doesn't matter what resistance

The mass of coil matters...u can see it sometimes in drop in coils also...for example the zenith zcoils

There is the 0.8coil for mtl 15-18wattage
But there is the direct lung coil that is 1ohm but 25-30 watts...
The direct lung coil is higher ohm but thicker wire...Soo it comes down to wire thickness and wraps that makes the total mass of wire and to heat it need the right amount of power...

For higher resistance need higher volts and for lower resistance need higher amps but that's something we don't care cause our regulated mods do the work...

If we use mech then it's another story :p

    Good morning shinies

Hope your Sunday is an awesome one. Getting cold here....five degrees outside this morning and lower predicted for tonight. Beautiful and sunny though.

Have a good one and yes I agree the Drugs looks a goody but can't see it beating a Dvarw though :D
