Relying on myself is the problem.

thats my problem and it’s good to realize it if it’s accurate. I have health problems which can cause memory problems and a bit of confusion. The meds I take for my health problems exacerbate the memory and confusion issues especially late in the day into the night.

The last person to save me from myself shouldn’t be myself  !

If you’ve ever had to deal with cleaning up the black soot from a battery failure and had to deal with the lingering smell for weeks then you’d understand why I use the bag. If I have a failure again then I throw the bag and contents in the garbage and move on. I keep a couple less expensive chargers on hand just in case.

I’m trying to envision how you have a charger on top of a coffee can and I’m having no luck at all.

Charlie, check your order at their website again. "Standard" refers to the tank's capacity only (standard--8 or 5 ml, respectively, vs TPD--2 ml), not single vs dual coil. SM sells two Brunhilde tanks--MTL RTA (only standard 5 ml edition is available right now)
Vapefly Brunhilde MTL RTA 23mm 5ml Rebuildable Tank Atomizer

and RTA (both standard [8 ml] and TPD [2ml] editions are available
Vapefly Brunhilde RTA 25mm 2ml/8ml Rebuildable Tank Atomizer

In other words, just because you ordered a "standard" version doesn't mean you ordered the big dual-coil one.
Thanks sweetie but unfortunately it's definitely the dual coil....I'm going to try an email after the Chinese holiday and if no joy then I'll get the correct one.

I'll keep the dual next to my bed to bludgeon any axe wielding homicidal maniacs if the need arises :D

Alright, so what are we supposed to do when stuff like this happens? Stuck button, auto firing, thermal runaway? There must be a better way than just throwing hissing batteries away as far as possible. Is there? I'm serious. Or do need to page @Mooch ? ;)

I never had a mech because I was always afraid of something like this happening, but I was pretty sure that with the new protected mods, better battery chemistry and better chargers we were pretty safe. Are we?

I like mechs and have several, I was scared to death of them at first, but I’ve had no trouble with them. Make sure they’re in good shape, the button is working, always use a good battery and always check the wrap and always check the 510 on the atty (most of mine are hybrids). I’ve never had one auto fire. And I always make sure the coil is in the safe zone and triple check it on a regulated mod.

When the Abyss malfunctioned, I knew it’s supposed to have a 10 second cut off, but if the electronics of the firing mechanism malfunctioned, I figured the cut off could, too. I usually hit maybe 3 seconds, and it fired for 2-3 more before I realized, so I figured I had enough time to get the battery cap off. If I’d walked into a room to find it firing I wouldn’t have known how long it had been doing that, and I wouldn’t have risked it. Stand back, see what happens.

When this topic comes up, I’m reminded of why I’m not ready for an electric car. I’d be far too nervous sitting on 17,000 batteries when everyone around me thinks we’re playing bumper cars and I don’t care how well protected they say they are.

Only thing I can think of is training the dog to call 911 or asking @Mooch to stay permanently :D

Seriously though....best thing to do is to buy a good charger with safety cut off, never trust the safety cut off completely, never charge when you're not nearby, always charge on a fireproof surface, always buy batteries from a reputable source and pay attention to the voltage drop on your batteries and buy new ones if necessary

It's a good point Delores. I also wonder how Tesla claim they get 8 years out of their battery packs. No doubt they have some very clever tech involved but they are just 18650 Li-ions after all.

I saw the other day that Chevy has a recall on a bunch of electric cars due to fire hazard and has told customers not to park in their garage.

Good morning shiny people. I got the Dead Rabbit R tank in the mail yesterday for review. I haven’t tried building it yet but it looks like you build a vertical mesh coil in it.

All good pointers to remember and I never thought about checking the voltage drop. I don’t know how that slipped past my safety check offs.

Oh wow that’s some scary crap. I’ve seen what one 18650 malfunctioning looks like and I wouldn’t want to be anywhere near a car with 17k of them run the car. Forget it!!

what does the R stand for. I know M stands mostly for mesh.
