The difference in flavor (and especially depth of the flavor) I get between fused claptons and aliens is easily more than 20% difference (says the 45yo 'kid' that is me). Further, your assertion that Ni80 doesn't lend itself well to be used in wattage mode is based on nothing but sliced thin air. Also, while it is true the fact a .07 ohms build on a single battery mech neither is safe nor should be considered safe, the same holds true for ANY coil resistance on ANY mod type. Lithium ion rechargeable batteries are dangerous. It's dangerous to vape on them. They never were designed to be used outside a fully protected battery pack with a protection circuit. By knowing the risks, understanding the risks, and accepting the risks there are certain things that we can do to mitigate them without interfering too much with how we want to vape. On a Vaperz Cloud Stormbreaker equipped with three (married) Samsung 30T batteries in parallel, you could be vaping a .07 till your face turns purple and green and still not cause the batteries to come even close to breaking a sweat if you correctly apply general safety rules of vaping the mech. What's more, you're not going to suffer from weak battery life when you've got that many mAhs on tap. Heck, if you go for the 40T instead of the 30T you STILL aren't close to going over the CDR of the battery as long as you know your stuff about keeping batteries properly in balance on a parallel battery mod and you understand basic safety for mech.

That said, Mooch recently did a video on the subject of using a series mech. One of important things to take away from that is you can have plenty more power on the mech if you are willing to abandon the idea of sticking to single battery mechs, and you don't have to build to excruciatingly low ohms to get there so, if I may be so bold to say so Sir, learn how to specifically build advanced coils, specifically for the power output you're aiming to achieve on a given mech setup with a given battery configuration, with the batteries that you select.

I kind of did. The DNA 250c is the flagshippiest most killer chip available at the moment. It claims to be able to TC kanthal. I don’t believe it but it claims it.

UPDATE: ...or maybe it doesn’t. There is a setting specifically for kanthal, but there’s no temperature attached to it. It may be just a special kanthal specific profile. Or something. Still smells of cow pasture to me.

Just to clarify. Evolv never claimed TC was possible with Kanthal or Nichrome. It's always been a wattage only thing. Even with Replay there is no attempt to either use TC if you have a TC dominant Replay profile or even the stock wattage dominant Replay mode. They provide a chart that shows what metals do and don't not work in Replay.

Props to the bomb for putting it to the test, first hand experience is hard to beat.
If you vape primarily for smoking cessation, then factors like juice and battery consumption are important factors. I like a warm plume, but do I think about the increase in the harm factors of vaping that are increased by huge hot clouds.

And to quadruple octuple ;) the amount of junk inhaled directly into your lungs. :D
Glad I usually vape unflavored. No such dilemma created, just need enough plume and nic to "work". And one battery per day, with maybe 4 or 5 ml of juice.

I can see my computer screen too.
:D

Everything in moderation...

I respect the experiment and I think it was cool.

It's just a bit moot for me really, I have a hard time focusing on flavor when I am coughing my brains out with a DL atty. Has been this way since day one.

I consider myself lucky really, I don't have to make a bunch of "hard" choices. I've gotten a bit airier since the beginning but not by much.

I am happy with the flavor I get, though.

Interesting read. I vaped MTL for years. Single battery device, usually topped by a Taifun. As I tiptoed into the world of direct lung, my gear was a HexOhm with an Aromamizer. I called it my big boy.lol. Hit it from time to time throughout the day. Maybe 3-4 times a day. Somehow I stopped tiptoeing and started to creep a little faster, eventually diving in head first. (as I have with all my addictions) Next thing I know, I have several Hexohms and have several bigger Aromamizers (or equivalent) and I vape most at 60 ish watts. Sometimes higher. Yes, I knew along the way, (I even stated it and was laughed at) there might be no going back. I lived through the ....... of the 80's. NO such thing as TOO MUCH mentality. As a 12 stepper now, I exercise caution at learning to love too much of a good thing.
I recently started to back out of this and head back to MTL with a one battery device and a small tank, .7 ohms at 22 watts and am trying to be satisfied here again. I know it is better for me and I am less embarrassed at the gear I have to carry around. I wish I had exercised more caution and not have taken the steps and just been satisfied with not smoking.

edit: why will ECF not let me say the word? Drug related and white powder and thankfully a thing of the past

A point that @Katya points out is super subjective. I am reporting what happened to me and what I found.
(says the 45yo 'kid' that is me).
So just a baby then. :p Seriously though, a lot of these reports seem to come from much younger users, and the phenomena itself seems to be relatively new.
Further, your assertion that Ni80 doesn't lend itself well to be used in wattage mode is based on nothing but sliced thin air.
I’d go further myself and claim it was based on gross misunderstanding and base ignorance. @greek mule pointed that one out earlier in the thread. I For further explanation I invite you to read the rest of the thread. I think it will be good for you.
Also, while it is true the fact a .07 ohms build on a single battery mech neither is safe nor should be considered safe, the same holds true for ANY coil resistance on ANY mod type.
You’re saying this like I implied differently somehow. You’ll notice that I went with a two battery VV mod to even try this, and I was worried about even that.
Lithium ion rechargeable batteries are dangerous. It's dangerous to vape on them. They never were designed to be used outside a fully protected battery pack with a protection circuit.
You mean like the one in the VV mod I was using?
By knowing the risks, understanding the risks, and accepting the risks there are certain things that we can do to mitigate them without interfering too much with how we want to vape.
To quote Lenny Bruce Quoting “Tonto” back in the 1960’s
“Whaddaya mean “we” white man?”
My face may be saggy, hair covered and more or less unpleasant to look upon but it’s my very first favorite one. I want to keep it.

so your refutation example is a modern three battery 2x700 device available it seems mostly at least only in Europe, weighs more than a pair of shoes, and costs nearly 200 euros. That’s like $300 or something right? No? More? I’m still smarting from paying less than half that for a new Drone 250c.
Maybe I’m not rich enough to vape.

Building at excruciatingly low ohms was the whole point of both the excercise and your previous paragraph
so, if I may be so bold to say so Sir,
Oh no please do go on, this is entertaining.

Or in other words (more or less your words by the way) don’t because A. You don’t need to in the first place, and B. Practically no one is going to either pay for or carry around the gigantic device that make it possible.

Thank you bombastinator, for sharing your trip down your vapeland experiment operation and thank you for sharing the great read. And humorous retorts!
^^Agreed. Thanks bombs, you da bomb.

A point that @Katya points out is super subjective. I am reporting what happened to me and what I found.
I think she was just doing the volumetric math, as in if it's twice as dense of a cloud:
And to quadruple octuple ;) the amount of junk inhaled directly into your lungs. :D

That's how she got to octuple: 2 x 2 x 2.

Unless you're talking about a different post. I think the interesting thing about all this is "How many 'nasties' are produced that way vs other ways, THEN multiply by 8 (or 27 if 3x more dense).

We know that some of the smallest coils have historically produced higher quantities of "junk". But they were also over-watted. So it all depends I guess.

Her math is valid though, for just the volumetrics.

I still mtl, and I am surprised more of us DL vapers from the 2014 and before era don't. The reason I still vape mtl on occasion is two of my favorite juices of all time do not taste the same via DL. Due to my lack of a better term, the flavor of the two juices seem to twist in a DL device. I order Halo's Prime 15 and Ahlusion's Caramel Wild Wood in 18mg, build a 1.6ohm coil in an old Kayfun Lite, and I am just as content.

Some flavours seem to be crisper and more defined low watt mtl. With DL and higher watts they just translate as a big billowy bloated kinda mess and nothing to get hung about.

Ha! If I remember correctly, you were one of the ones that laughed, when I lamented that I felt I might be embarking into a world where there was no going back. I can MTL some but I feel I need MORE most days

LMAO!! You have an awesome memory!!! We used to have some healthy debates in the Gourmet Juice thread. I learned rather quickly that my favorite juices were disappointing to a lot of our fellow posters in that thread due to the way I vaped.

You and I seemed to have the same taste in eliquids back then. If Chanel liked it I knew to order some.

Seriously funny.

For me though, if I need 5% more flavor, I just add 5% more flavor to my DIY juice. It's a lot faster, easier, and cheaper than buying every new device that comes down the pipe then spending tons of material and time trying to get it just right.

I can see some that will min max their stuff if they are using commercial juices though.
The most flavor I get by drinking e-liquid. The best flavor I get from vaping high VG juices at high wattages on advanced coils in an RDA.

My son actually vapes at 100 watts and likes it

Some flavors do better at higher wattages, you can get some of the subtleties that aren't apparent at lower watts. This is why when we review a juice it's important to tell others what build you used and at how many watts you vaped because someone might not have the same experience at a different build and watts..

You can get a cool vape at 100 watts, you just need the metal mass. These coils here run nicely for my son at 100 watts, but they are so large they wont fit in the majority (99.9%) of RTA's.

s-l400-jpg.714901

But the problem, the huge elephant is just that - the massive juice consumption. My son vapes anywhere from 30-50 ml of ejuice per day.

That's a massive consumption level and I'm fairly certain your just erasing many of the health benefits to vaping.

Even my son agrees that it's likely far less beneficial at this level, and I've finally talked him into low watts, low consumption, high nic, some of the time to decrease his overall consumption..

but yeah, when your consuming in a day what a low wattage vaper, vapes in a month, it's far less beneficial than low consumption... it just makes sense that it would be.
Aliens Ni80 27g/36g at 4.5 wraps 2.5mm ID dual coil at .11 ohms are a fairly cool vape on a single 18650 battery mech equipped with a Samsung 20S. My juice consumption with this particular coil build typically averages to something roughly in between only 12ml and 15ml per day, with high VG juices (usually between 70/30 and 80/20) at 3mg, and, if you do the math you'll find that this is actually ~120 watts of power. Further, there are literally tons of excellent juices out there that don't taste nearly as excellent if using (again, on a single 18650 battery mech) coils that contain a bigger amount of metal than the coil build I described above. The problem, the huge elephant is just that too many people don't know what's out there. So they come up with all kinds of ridiculous fantasy tales.

What? No vaporz cloud storm breaker? Didn’t you just say that was dangerous?

It's not even worth it. It's like trying to have a conversation with a 3 year old about why they're sticking peas up their nose (makes me wonder if the poster is even old enough to be on this forum).

I agree, and you do it so well.

You've found what works the very best for you, congratulations.
The notion your personal preferences equates to what will work best for anyone else or is better than what others chose is one of those ridiculous fantasy tales.

For some reason the OP posting about his experiment with his preferences triggers another condescending tirade of the superiorities of your preferences.

My question is how hot is that vapor? I always kind of feel like a big sissy because the highest I’ve gone is like 45-50 watts, and that’s not common. I’m usually at 30, even though I know my build would be okay at twice that. But my lungs just can’t handle the heat.

Is that a thing one gets accustomed to with practice? Or are some just not as sensitive as I am?

Don't feel bad. I'm at 7.5W this morning, down from my usual 10W. :) I really don't see the need to burn up juice at a high rate. It's the nic I'm wanting, not the clouds. As long as I get an exhale that resembles my old cigarettes from 9 years ago, I'm a happy guy. :D
