One day = ? mlsNot burnt but it starts tasting funky and not so fresh... even though when I remove the base and take a look at the coil/wick it doesn't really look that bad, but I can tell it needs to be re-wicked.
With the tight coil, the first coil I did in the Mini, it started tasting kinda burnt after one day, and I re-wicked it twice, just to make sure I didn't screw anything up on my first attempt. But this was with a smaller ID, 2.5mm.
I do think the smaller deck/chamber has something to do with this, and also the better flavor I'm getting compared to the K4, even though it's only a tiny bit better. But I'm really loving not having a 1000 tiny pieces to deal with!![]()
Since it's a small tank I'd say I fill it 2-3 times a day, so maybe 5-6 ml?One day = ? mls
Ah, then you are re-wicking it early. Something is surely off. I re-wick (all my atties) by *8-10mls. this KM3 is no different.Since it's a small tank I'd say I fill it 2-3 times a day, so maybe 5-6 ml?
That's where I am too Q, 8 - 12 mls...same as all my other attys. But then this is juice-dependent too. I can find liquids which will gunk it up within 2mls.Ah, then you are re-wicking it early. Something is surely off. I re-wick (all my atties) by *8-10mls. this KM3 is no different.

I'm now at 2-3 days with the spaced coil, which puts it at 10+ ml. Not sure why with the K4 I can get away with more mls of juice before re-wicking, almost double. For example, I could clean the coil and wick it on Sunday, and make it all the way to Saturday, same juice, same amount of mls, same great flavor. All those pieces and how large it looked is why the k4 was the only kayfun I never purchased. Not burnt but it starts tasting funky and not so fresh... even though when I remove the base and take a look at the coil/wick it doesn't really look that bad, but I can tell it needs to be re-wicked.

Well, ECF doesn't have enough hard disc space to list all the things you do wrongI don't know what the he|| I'm doing wrong, but I change my wicks after 15-20ml per juice, and I have enough tanks in rotation that I go through 15-20ml of a single flavor per month.
A mystery for sure, but I will take a quess. Maybe not enough wicking material in coil, maybe after your short period before wicking is because the wick has sort of collapsed. I know alot of times if I don't use quite enough it's good for a few mls but then I start to get sort of dry, burnt hits. I know you did the same tight coil in the k4 but maybe the smaller deck of the mini produces a tad more heat contributing to this issue. Just a guess though because it can be a few things as well. One thing though, if you try a little more cotton, don't be afraid to trim the tails slightly after threading the coil because too much tails can be too much. Another possibility is the mod, now you may have a very good one but the first China clone mod I bought (99 percent of the time I buy authentic high end devices) had an issue with the connection to the tank, if the tanks positive pin wasn't exactly adjusted right it pushed up the pin in the mod and if that mods pin went in too much, it created a burn in my coil forcing me to rewick. I know this probably would of happened with either a contact or spaced coil , who knows. I know that last one is a long shot thoughI'm now at 2-3 days with the spaced coil, which puts it at 10+ ml. My experience so far:
KM3/tight coil = 1 day max for me
KM3/spaced coil = 2-3 days
K4/tight coil = 5-6 days
I don't recall if I tried a spaced coil in the K4... I hate re-wicking a spaced coil cause then the coils get all messed up and my OCD kicks in. That's why I stuck with a tight coil in the K4 and it worked great, didn't feel the need to do a spaced coil. But after my the first coil (tight) in the KM3 I had to find an alternative, cause I wasn't going to wick it every day!
With rayon right? What's up buddy? So which tank? I have heard in the rayon thread those crazy refill times and could never get close, at least with the rta's that I use. I usually taste a funk around 15mlsI rewick at 300ml. I would go insane if I had to rewick every two days.
That's on a different atty though although I can't see an atty making so much difference.

Love both the erlp and erlks and although I don't have the K mini yet, I will be ordering Thursday. I once tried boring out the hole in the positive pole of the erlp for more airflow and broke it, then remembered you couldn't buy parts, I bought an erlk pole and sanded the top part to fit the erlp deck, works great but the insulator, that's a tough oneErlprinz with the erlkonigin Nano kit. Same old atty since October 2014.
I'm interested in the mini v3 because my erlp has been used 24/7 for almost 17 months now (I probably hold the world record on that atty) and the positive pole insulator is starting to slowly collapse. Not good when there are no spares for the erlp.
Just looking for a possible alternative before may, 20th (Europe's vapeaggedon).
Yes, rayon of course. Can't even think using anything else. Just set and forget. Depending on juice but I only vape my own diy menthol. Nothing much to gunk up there.

I like plenty of wick in my coils. I'm using KGD cotton, I remove the outer layers and roll the cotton. Once in the coil I fluff the heck out of it and trim the tails depending on the atty I'm working on... I never have any dry/burnt hits in any of my tanks, they all wick great. I've never tried rayon so I'm not familiar with its behavior, it seems that a lot of you here do, I'm still kinda new to vaping so it's probably something I'll need to try in the future. But I've tried different cotton and found that KGD is best for me.A mystery for sure, but I will take a quess. Well there is no doubt your using enough cotton, so that's not the issue, in fact if you only had it in for a short time and it looked singed, it's either getting choked from to much wicking material or juice is not getting to the coil as much as it should. Maybe others are also using 26g, but I haven't noticed, but maybe it's just that combination of wire, juice, that's making such a big difference. 26 is my favorite wire as well and once I get this atty, I hope I can use it with a contact coil . I just never have heard that big of a difference between the 2 coils, yes I have heard some saying they get a little more flavor from a spaced, or they can go 4 more mls before rewicking but for one not to really work at all is strange . I do have to say that looking at your picks, that the cotton in your spaced coil looks less then the contact, whether it's enough difference to create these results, not sureSo I did some experimenting tonight, using the same juice of course... I removed the 26 ga N80 3mm spaced coil and installed a 26 ga Kanthal 3mm ID, 8 wraps I think, came out to 1.1 ohms.

After pulsing it and making sure it's glowing right I wicked it with some KGD and trimmed it just like I did with the previous coil

Shoved the cotton in making sure it's not too tight in there

Started vaping it at low wattage and slowing started going up. Flavor was not great once again. With the spaced coil the flavor just jumps out at you, specially the caramel in the RY4. So I kept going up in power thinking that would improve the flavor, it did a little. But after half a tank I couldn't take it anymore and decided to remove that coil! It's just not the same for me, not the flavor I'm used to, and this has been my ADV for probably the past 8 months, so I'm very familiar with it.
Once I removed the coil/wick I examined the wick, it was very saturated, however, it seemed that it was slightly burnt. I should've taken a pic before I threw it out. It was a 1.1 ohm coil, I started at 12 W and went up to 17 before giving up. The N80 spaced coil was .7 ohm and I ran it around 20-21 W.
Next I decided to try a spaced a 26 ga Kanthal coil, instead of N80, I did 6 wraps and it came out to .9 ohm.

I wicked it the same way

After breaking it in it is working much better. I've taken it up to 18 W and so far so good, way better flavor. The N80 coil had a little more flavor though, so I'll probably go back to that the next time I take it apart to wick it.
Sorry for the long post but I figured I'd share my experience with this fantastic little tank. If anyone has any suggestions I'm all ears and willing to experiment, whenever I have the time. For now I'm sticking with a spaced coil in this atty.
