It's taken a few weeks, but I've read the entire thread to this point. There should be some sort of beacon for tobacco loving DIY'ers, to this Hangsen thread. Many thanks to those that contributed. What a wealth of Hangsen tobacco information. I've been mixing for a couple of months now, and it's exclusively tobacco mixes, and all are Hangsen, for the most part. In just a few short months, I've managed to come up with 5 or 6 Hangsen mixes that are my standbys, in my rotation. Hangsen, makes this noob DIYer feel like an expert.

Now off to find Danny's tobacco only thread, and do some more reading.

Thanks for the welcome, Jeremy. Well, my favorites are probably pretty run of the mill, being new to mixing. I'm still on my initial 11 flavorings. I put myself on a self imposed 'vape budget', so I don't go berserk. After reading all the mouth watering posts, and recipes on this thread, it's going to be hard to stay on budget this month..lol. But here goes:

I've got 4 Hangsen flavors that I really enjoy as stand alone mixes. Desert Ship (present fav), No 5, Highway, & Tab. All at 5%.

When I started vaping, I was bouncing from juice to juice (pre-mixed) in the local shops. I always kept a bottle of RY4 on hand, to 'adjust' the commercial mixes a little. I chose RY4 simply because it was mentioned in so many forums, recipes, threads, and discussions. I kept reading where it was a good 'addition' to tobacco flavors, at times. So, I used it to improve the pre-mixed stuff I was trying. Sometimes it worked, and sometimes it didn't. Being a little familiar with it, I got a few RY4's with my initial flavor order.

Hangsen RY4, TFA RY4 Asian, and TFA RY4 Double.

Using those, I could add a small percentage to my 4 stand alone Hangsen mixes, to give them a slightly different personality. I found that I really enjoyed the No 5 or the Tab, with about 2% RY4 Double added. I added those to my regulars collection.

I also got 3 flavors that were just too potent (at my 5% test strength) for my liking.

TFA Black Fire, TFA Black Honey, and Hangsen Arabic. Yikes, those were powerful flavors, by themselves. I put those 5% test batches on the back shelf, figuring I might end up just ditching them. I have to confess, sometimes I'm the anti-mixologist cave man. I'll be filling my 2 mil, Nautilus Mini, and get almost to the top, and say what the hell, and I'll just grab one of the 5% test bottles of the potent flavors, and just add a drop or two, to the tank. I found that adding just 1 or 2 drops of 5% Arabic, to 2 ml of 5% Desert Ship, gave it a whole new twist, that I rather like. I know that goes against the grain of proper mixing methods, accurate measurements, detailed notes, etc, but sometimes it's fun to just wing it. Part of the learning process, I guess.

My last flavor is TFA Caramel Candy. Not knowing what my initial flavors would taste like, I figured I'd have something around in case a little sweetening was needed.

My list for next month is Hangsen Red USA, Tobacco, Deluxe, Turkish, RY1, and Indian. I think I may also add one of the TA's and a bottle of AP to the order. I want to do more reading on those two enhancers, before I order.

I'm new, I'm learning, and I'm not afraid to try summadis, and summadat. My sometimes backward methods have kept me off cigarettes completely, for 3 months and counting, and I was a pack & a half a day smoker for 45 years. I don't feel like I quit smoking, I feel like I enhanced it!

Thanks to all, for having me. Pardon the long post.

No thanks for the long post. Its good content and you'll find that it will help someone else.

The way your mixing is actually a very good way to mix!! One that I recommened, You skip a lot of steps and get the flavor mixture instantly and in proper balance for each. If it wasn't good no loss just mix different next tank.

The arabic and the others are strong and you probably want to be around 3-3.3% for those. Those little shots of potent ones enhance well. And also show you how little it takes in a mixture to change it.

That's great you've quit! With hangsens being my first juice, with my first vape set-up... I quit instantly never to smoke again after that first puff of Churchill. I firmly believe that hangsen made that happen because they use real tobacco extracts.

Also I look at it as a replacement for cigarettes also. Trade this for that and this is better so I don't need that.

Also I had a strict budget as well. I think I only have 11 flavors still to this point. I'm so happy with what I've got theres no need to experiment much by buying other flavors.. Sure a few times a year I'll try something new cause budget allows. But with hangsen you save a lot of money and its super easy to make a good or decent juice. For a fraction of what you pay for premade.

Hey D Doug, if your way of mixing is 'wrong', then I've been wrong almost 5 years. :p

Only diff is I use a dripper to mix. I enjoy getting to know flavors solo and the decided lack of commitment to multiple bottles of experiments I know straight way are not gonna steep to greatness. ;)

Its nice to find what's good early in the journey. Highway, desert ship and No5 are my bases for almost all my mixing needs, I found Tab blend a bit too sweet and it has a caramelly or butterscotch taste I don't prefer. I mix the tobacs as stand alones then blend in whatever other flavor I want and the Hangsens make the flavors pop out. I do advise getting a couple TA's since they do nothing but improve your Hangsen vape experience.
This is probably the third time you're giving a thumbs up to TA from RTS. One more time, and I am going for it.
I didn't say who's TA this time but I guess this means your going to fatten up the cart Exchaner ;) :)

Welcome! HA!

Your journey sounds just like mine. HA! As others have said; if that's doing it wrong then I'm doing it wrong.

What's funny is I like the exact combo you do: Tab with a bit of RY4. I've been rolling that way since I wasn't technically mixing/brewing but simply blending 2 Dekang flavors! HA!

In fact; I've never actually brewed up an actual 4oz bottle of the two flavors. I still prefer adding a bit of DRY4 into my 6ml REO bottle that's holding the Tab Blended without trying to figure out the percentages.

Also, I love Desert Ship too (but I brew it at 3% 'til I'm sure it's "steeped.") and then either add a bit more flavor or enjoy what I've got. I use Hangsen Vanilla in lots of the Hangsen "tobacco" flavors but I use it just the same way as described about and don't actually brew it already in the 4oz bottles.

It seems to "tame" a bit of the "sharp/nutty" profile of many of my favorite Hangsen Tobacco flavors.

Welcome to the Crazy Hangsen Club! Hangsen/Dekang is "bad-mouted" often on the forum but, (aside from unflavored), they are the only flavors I've ever loved (besides some TFA/Capella stuff that's thrown into certain Hangsen creations I make.) I also brew up TFA DRY4 solo (at 5%) for use in the Tab/DRY4 blend above, or solo.

Thanks and welcome (and "long-time no see" to the rest of you lads/lassies!) HA!

Glad to know I'm not the only tank blender in the Crazy Hangsen Club..lol.

I think mixing things is in my genes. Even when I was doing RYO ciggies, a single tobacco was never enough. I'd try 2, sometimes 3 different kinds of tobacco, looking for that perfect mix. Then it carried over into vaping.

My first Lava starter kit came with a sample bottle of ejuice. The guy at the tobacco shop said, 'I know what you smoke, how long you've been smoking..you need this strength (18mg)'. It blew the top of my head off. Wayyy too strong. Maybe it was just Lava garbage. I immediately drove back and said I need some 0 strength to cut this stuff. While you're at it, throw in a bottle of RY4. This flavor needs a little help. My mixing days started from day one...lol.

Thanks for the tips, everyone. I'm still doing some digging for TA info. Maybe someone can suggest which one would go best, knowing my 4 Hangsen bases that I use. I'm sure there's no one size fits all, but any and all suggestions are welcome.

I'm going to start cutting back on my percentages. I can tell my taste is improving a little bit, even after 3 months away from the cigs. Hopefully it'll keep improving as time passes. Changing equipment made a difference too. A new Kanger Subtank Mini came in the mail today. I'm breaking it in with some 5% Highway at the moment, and I can tell the flavor is livelier than from my Nautilus Mini.

Thanks again, everyone!

Has anyone tried BOTH the USA Mix and USA Red mix? Is there any difference?

Big difference matt

I prefer the USA mix myself.

USA red is strong like a red, after time, the ash tray taste started standing out to me and I don't vape it anymore. Good for someone looking for that cigarette ash, like a recent convert.

USA mix is a nice nutty tobacco, good tobacco taste. Different than highway.

I'm assuming your liking the grassy/hay vape since thats what I taste in highway desert ship and No5. I've had only a few tobacco absolutes but my take on them is:

RTS TA... its great..I mix 100mls 5% with no nic and add the difference after when going to blend and let it sit for a month then blend it into a Hangsen tobac at 60/40 ratio and change up the ratios to have different tastes and I only blend 30mls at a time to always changing ratios. 2 drops per 10mls of acetyl pyrazine also helps by adding a bready/yeasty taste

INW Garuda... I build 100mls 5%. Garuda adds a bit of a edge to the tobac but still grassy, great vape also blended the same way as the RTS

INW Virginia... At 5% it turned out really sweet but still has a sweet grassy taste, not my fav but its not bad.

I vape the RTS, Garuda TA blends with a Hangsen tobac 24/7 and see no signs of slowing down either, they aren't sweet so I'm not constantly parched and can go 3 weeks cookin 10+mls a day in a kayfun before the rayon and coil starts to show their age.

Hey Doug, read the tobacco absolute a flavor by itself thread. Tons of good info.

Rustica all the way for me.

I just finished reading that thread, and couldn't resist.

Ordered 5 ml of Samara Rustica. I can't get 190 proof PGA here, in Michigan. so I'll have to use 151 & PG for my solution.
