Ok, here is what I have. I did 8 spaced wraps of the 28g ti on a 3/32" (2.4mm) bit. Its reading 0.556ohm. Isn't that much too high? Not sure here if I should take off a couple of wraps or if something else is wrong?

I don't exactly know either, but I would have the same reaction coming from Ni wire... something like that Ni 30g would come in under or near .20 ohms.
8 wrap Ti 24g comes in approx, .24 with a 2.5mm ID coil...
But I imagine there are some variables to consider... length of legs etc.

Yeah but 24g isn't the same as 28g

The thinner the wire, the higher the resistance...

It needs to be under 0.3 for the sx, which means I'm about to throw in the towel. Even 4 wraps is too high. I'm not doing a 3 wrap coil. That seems pointless.

Yep. I guess this is why everyone is using 24g. Marc gave me the roll of 28g so I didn't know.

Sorry, abandoning the ti experiment til I come up with something. I tried a twisted 30g piece I had, too, and same problem. That, too, would have to be 3 wraps.

I did not know that. Since it can make as much as 9.5V, that seems rather arbitrary.

Two strands, tightly twisted, 2.4mm diameter, 7 wraps... Should come out close to 0.25.

Why are dual coils a world of hurt? Some are using ni200 in the Aqua v2.

Tony will be fine. Lol! We are in doubt you will get it to work! And sorry to be suggesting builds to someone who has clearly been doing this a lot longer than I have. I was just playing with steam engine to come up with a useful build for me to try also!! ...if my 28/30g wire ever arrives...

Now inspired by Rossum, I have to figure out how I can conjure up a triple twist...like the sound of that.

How about a clapton of Ni around Ti...lol!

Well, it's just that your coils have a lower resistance than they theoretically should and I'm puzzled why, since mine end up reading right what they should.

I can thing of the following explanations:

1) You've got a short between some of your coils. I think this is unlikely since you say your results are consistent.

2) The resistivity of your wire is lower than it should be. I'm not sure how this would be possible, since impurities in titanium generally increase its resistivity.

3) The wire you've got is a bit thicker than it should be. 30 gauge is supposed to be 0.255 mm. I don't have that many decimal places on my calipers, but I get readings of 0.25 or 0.26, so it's in the ballpark. Can you check yours?

i do not have any calipers yet, but the diameter of the wire is listed as "Wire Dia.: 0.016" .....and yes my coils are consistent, do i need to spin my wires tighter in the chuck and get them closer together?..... (i'm doing them by hand) but i just bought & received a new spinning coil tool today or should i just be glad to get what i have cause i'm pretty satisfied now.

There is just a small problem with all this... The twisted 28g Ti will have probably the same mass as 24g Ti and thus behave like theotherSteveS has already tested.

It might solve roxynoodle's nickel allergy problem but doesn't solve the riddle of the other experience

Well, until I try a dual, we don't know.

I really need groceries tomorrow, but maybe Friday I can experiment with the Aqua. You can pull the base anytime. Worst that can happen is it sucks, and I take it out.
