They were a full body workout. I remember one day in class. I would use the frame around the space bar to push the typewriter to the back of the desk when I pushed a bit to much and it dropped over the back. I managed to grab it as it went over. (Remember I am vertically challenged) I was splayed over the desk with this typewriter dangling over the back of the desk held by my index fingers for what seemed like hours (minutes) waiting for someone to stop laughing and catch it, I was too afraid to let it drop. ROFL

This discussion is funny. Sometimes I feel the same about vape gear. Technology (upgrading) has gone so far past me that I am almost defiant in my use of carto tanks. :p
How good I don't know them at all, 2013 when I began they were old school. So I can stick to my Sofias, they are old school as well in the meantime.

And believe it or not, I type it the second time. First time: Keyboard deletes elegantly everything what I wrote and sets a bookmark instead. Why, what I did to
it to react like this - I don't know.

PS, by the way, my Alerts do not function as well. Bewitched!!!

I wonder if you have accidentally reprogrammed the keys or you have dodgy drivers and conflicts. Can you kill the drivers and reinstall them or maybe plug in another keyboard/mouse to reset.

Yes, yes, Yes, YES, I do. If Billie agrees ... we don't see much of him lately.

No driver for Mac. This is dedicated Windows gear, but this does not mean anything, usually. Simplest solution: give to son and buy the same cheap one that was working wonderfully - until it died a premature (and preprogrammed) death.

So annyoing: The keyboard I plug in when these new shiny ones die one after the other is a very-very old one - they just run forever.

PS, Sofia: I wanted to have a third one. V2 is going to be the already planned V1 ...

I know what you mean but he always responds quickly if we ask a question so he is here. I like the idea behind the v2 with the SS cup and I will get one but I really like the way the v1 tastes and behaves. They just work so well for me.

I am a speed reader so just reading was never quite enough. I type fast so it was a neat way of learning.

I read something not too long ago about that; each brain has an optimum processing speed for different tasks, and learning is one of the slowest, apparently, though I never found it so -- it always infuriated me how teachers would POUND.THE.SAME.INFO.OVER.AND.OVER till I just wanted to scream OK I GOT IT ALREADY, LET'S MOVE ON ALREADY!!!!!!!!!!

But this does explain to me why my very fast reading seems much slower when I'm reading a non-fiction book, or novels with particularly dense structure, like some 19th cent novels for example -- whereas "regular" fiction, I can read at near-light-speed. I read one recently called "Death and Mr Pickwick" about Dickens creative theft of the Pickwick Papers from the artist who originally conceived the idea, Robert Seymour, and good god, that thing might as well have been written by Dickens himself! It took longer than War & Peace, though it was half as long!

I know what you mean. My reading brain trips over odd language or grammatical inconsistencies or even misspelt words yet has no problems with most verbiage. I think technical writers have no writing style and put together sentences designed to impart knowledge rather than for the pleasure of the reader.

Have you looked at keyboards from Das, Ducky and WASD?

Das Professional.
http://www.daskeyboard.com/model-s-professional/

I don't think those are wide enough either; although the F key row is a good distance above the QWERTYs, the panel with the cursors and other keys is really squeezed in, another pet peeve, as I'll be hitting the delete key at random, constantly. The cheapo Kensington I have now has a great deal more horizontal margin between the 3 different panels.

It's this trend to make everything smaller; not EVERYTHING *OUGHT* to be smaller!

My only problem with the V1 is that I hate to make the wire myself and as for ready wires, I don't want to use those black-in-the-middle FT ones. So I use the "Authentic Kanthal" NiChrome ones that are not oxidized (or whatever it is they do to those wires made out of ... whatever). But the nice shiny "Authentic Kanthal NiChrome" has 1,7 ohm and I want 2 ohm to tootle puff properly or at least in my preferred way of tootling :D
This is what my head does to me: "I want ..." :p

Thanks for "vertically challenged". The things I learn by being in ECF - English for Foreigners heaven.

Exactly, where you had to have that specific "snap" action to make the key depress -- I still have that, and between that and my monstrous fingernails, my typing sounds like a machine-gun barrage. :D Sometimes my nearly-deaf husband will come in here and ask me who I'm mad at, because he can hear that machine-gun chattering away at top speed. :D

My memory has always been horrible. Took me days and days of writing reciting, etc to memorize a stupid 10 line poem or something for school. I do however have outstanding abilities in grasping the broad or overall picture of things. And am outstanding at understanding mechanical things.

Numbers? NWIH.

What is NWIH?

I'm also better at grasping concepts, than specifics, but sometimes the specifics manage to settle in, even when I'm not aware of it happening.
