Thanks!!

Ok it seems like everyone has been saying something like this without saying it "Edit: You don't need TC to get a warm vape." So many have asked WHY I want to go to TC.

What am I doing wrong then?

I am using the Phantom x 1600 Phantom Battery | Vapor Phantom X 1600 | Mig Cigs - at about 10w (I have tried 3-15w. And using a nautilus tank.
And it just isnt warm at all! I mean not at all. Room temp maybe.

I guess that's why I am thinking about TC so much.

Can I do something to make my setup warmer?

I think the problem is probably the Nautilus. I also didn't care for them; with enough airflow to keep from getting burnt hits, it was too airy; close it down enough to get a tight draw, and I got burnt hits. Yuck. Totally hated that tank, which is what finally drove me to rebuildables.

It IS possible to get a warm vape, with a tight draw, and not get burnt hits -- however I'm not the right person to advise on the newfangled tanks that have come out, since I've been doing the build-your-own-coils thing for way over a year -- which in vape terms is nearly a millenium! My best suggestion would be cartos and cartotanks, even if you don't go with TC. If you get them primed properly, you won't get dry hits, and the draw is tight, and fairly warm depending on your power setting on your mod.

Do you guys prefer warm or cold vape? I vape at 11.5 watts, it's just the perfect temp. Not too warm, not cold.

I like a cooler vape. I vape menthol exclusively, and with 1.5ohms I vape between 6.5 to 7 watts (yes...I've crept up a bit since I started using the tanks a couple of months ago).

EDIT: Just checked my iStick30 and assuming it's reading correctly..my ohms are presently 1.6 and my watts are 7. Nice vape. Flavorful, not harsh.

I don't know that she'd need to go over 15W. Depending on the ohms she's using...what she has ought to do just fine. Personally 15W would burn my mouth out!
Me too. But not sure now the ego1 will do on 15 watts. 15 watts would melt down my T3

1,5ohm coil on 5.5 watts? How is that going? My setup didn't even work that low on a 2.2ohm coil

Not really "have" to use 15 watts...just get that airflow narrowed down good and work on the watt level. She already mentioned that 15 watt was to "hot/burned" for her. Unless I got her mixed up with someone else. Anyway...I would think for a relative newbie to vaping 15W is way more than what is needed to get a warm vape from a non sub-ohm atomizer.

Thanks. All reviewers now seem to only test tanks at the max wattage it will handle.
That's both a good and a bad thing. It's positive that reviewers max out the wattage to see what the device is able to do. But it shouldn't be based on sole high wattage.

I like my vape *just barely* warm, and very tight -- 9 watts with my Achilles is perfect, a 1.7 ohm coil. I don't want it actually cool, but anything warmer than "just barely warm" bothers my lips.

Yep we be watt demons. I hit 8 watts sometimes on 1.5 ohms. Livin on the edge.

I said 1.5ohm at 6.5 to 7 watts...and my set up works excellent at that setting. I mentioned in an edit that my iStick30 is telling me my ohms are currently 1.6 and my watts are set at 7 watts. I would think 5.5 would be awfully low for most people...although when I was first trying the tanks (and was nervous) I started out at 5.8watts. I've since moved up a bit.

I know what you mean about that type of tank..the top coil things. That is what I didn't like about that sort of clearo! I haven't used a Nautilus, but hear it does vape a bit cool. I'm sure there's an explanation for that. Right now I am using a Cerotank (which is a stainless steel version of the Aerotank with benefits) and the GS Air M. Just ordered an Anyvape Davide which should get here today. All are bottom coil. Personally I think you could likely get your desired heat from any of them. Just adjust the airflow way down and adjust your watts/volts up. The flavoring was just a thought. :)
Thanks - I'm going to try a new tank and see if that helps - maybe I wont have to buy the whole kit and kaboodle!

@Shameless, I'm not very familiar with your gear, but if the airflow is adjustable, make it tighter for one. The more air passing over your coils, the cooler and airier your vape will be. And increasing power will also warm it up.
Kanger is working with MigCig and made the Phantom x 1600- its almost exactly like a Kanger iMow

I have the airflow on my Nautilus mini - down to the lowest setting
I have turned up the power to 15w on the Phantom (but it tastes weird so I am using it generally at 10W)
