We're in the same boat now, only in my case its my 73 year old father who was admitted in hospital today with bad case of pneumonia. Antibiotics he'd gotten last week didn't catch on (they're really careful with prescribing antibiotics in NL). I'm a bit scared, I lost my mom just 4 months ago, so.... Going over to see him this weekend, hopefully he can go home on Saturday or Sunday.
Wishing you and your husband all the best, hope he can go home soon too!

Sorry to hear this. I will add him to my prayers for a speedy recovery.

I'v had TONS of mouth work done. What I use to do was take some gauze, soak it in water then put it where they pulled the tooth and bite down while taking a draw from a cig. :) I'v never gotton dry socket, my theory is the wet gauze keeps he blood clot sealed..

Or a wet teabag. Tea is rich in tannic acid, which is a GREAT blood coagulent. A cupful of strong cold (or just room-temp) tea is a good thing to have waiting after any dental work; VERY gently hold in your mouth, not swishing, then let it out easily, makes the bleeding stop PDQ.

I hope he gets better!! Will be praying for your family as-well!!!
USA gives out antibiotics like candy, and wonder why they no longer work...
I am prone to bladder- and kidney infections, have been all my life due To an acquired bladder-defect. Everytime I get an infection, I don't get any antibiotics untill they've researched which antibiotic will kill whatever bug is in there.
Once my sample got contaminated and a simple bladder infection became a kidney infection. Try discussing your situation with a nurse with a fever of over 40•C...Since they had to throw away the sample, and I was unable to provide another one (too sick), the hospital refused to prescribe me anything.
In the end I had to call my parents to come and get me....lots of pain and in hindsight I think I even had scepsis (blood-poisoning?). They arranged for me to get antibiotics through their own housedoctor and from then on I got better. Unfortunately, my immune system had already gone in overdrive, starting to attack the nerve-endings in my fingers and toes. Very scary experience! Of course I filed a complaint with the hospital, they finally assigned me a urologist (instead of just trainees), but he's an .... Last time I saw him, he told me it was all right to wait till I got a fever before seeing my housedoctor for a bladder infection :facepalm Looking for a different urologist in a different hospital now... Mind you, that was a university hospital....you'd think they'd know better. And we've got the most expensive healthcare system in Europe...:(

So sorry to hear about your father! I hope he'll rebound and be all right. I'll be praying for him (and you!)

Have talked to hubs a few times today..some of it about the financial aspect of things with the hospital. Poor dear is useless with dealing with matters of bills and bureaucracy. He was in a fidget over being told that we'd owe $xxx amount of money per night but I knew we had to do better than that. Or, at least I was laboring under the impression that we ought not to be charged that. Admittedly, I got pretty fidgety, myself. So I had to try to find the right person to talk to (much being bounced from dept. to dept. and number to number) to get things straightened out. Finally: BINGO! Told the right person the actual situation with our insurance and ta da! all fixed. Whew.

As for his health...still waiting to find out. Had a glimmer of hope he might get out tomorrow, but we're not at all sure now.

I'm glad that you were able to get the financial end taken care of. It's stressful enough having to worry about getting better. I hope you both get good news tomorrow!!:)

Thanks! Yes...worrying about money in a situation involving a hospital is pretty hard on the nerves. What are they going to do? Set him on the street because we couldn't pay that nightly fee thing? Well...lots of times it's just a matter of locating the right person to talk to (like someone who actually knows and does their job...)

Keep the positive vibes going that he gets released tomorrow! Our car is parked over at the doctor's office. We really don't want it left there over the weekend!

One thing I'm grateful for in Argentina is HMOs. Some (like the one I have now) can be expensive but there's almost always one or another so you don't have to worry too much about money issues. But, with my father and mother I've had very unpleasant malpractices, and they were both on very expensive HMOs.
When my heart attack happened, there were 7 major power outtages. I was in ICU but the equipment they needed for the operation didn't work due to the very low wattages. And the techs went down to the basement, pulled out the old equipment that worked with lower wattages and all of them managed to pull an awful, life threatening situation into a victory. 4 hours later both my stents were in place and I was resting peacefully in my room. So I'd say it's more about luck than money!
Good healing vibes to everyone!

Tootle puffers challenge they said? :)
Well let's get it going shall we :)
The atty is old school, a very old school. It is My-T, hand made product from Serbia. T- system similar to Ego-T but completely rebuildable. Currently working with vertical mesh, so it's not a T- system any more lol, but it is an excellent tootle puffers device. 1.6 Ohm, on Nemi mini in 14500 configuration. If i had some Ego batteries with beauty ring it would look stunning and sleek but i've moved away from Ego like batteries about a month after i switched to vape, so i haven't had one of those for long time ago :)
