Tootle Puffers, Redux (The Sequel)

Hello fellow Tootle Puffers,

I have a question for everyone (that I know has been asked 1000 times)...

Being a relative newbie I have only 2 devices, both being ego ones which I've had about 2 months. They've been fine but lately I'm getting a wee bit frustrated with them and I'm looking to add to my collection (do 2 units qualify as a "collection"? *ahem*).

The last couple of pkgs of CLR 1.0 ohm have been problematic...lately coils only lasting about 3 days. I don't rebuild and for now I'm not interested.

I've experienced leakage from the the air intake on both units. Not bad but irritating.

Lately, one unit has been fiddly, whereby the draw can become too "airy". It produces vapor but not much flavour. It just doesn't feel right.

I'm also finding the tank too small. As I'm enjoying vaping more, I'm...well...vaping more and refilling more often.

Hmm...what am I trying to say? I'm wondering if I should get a different tank. Not the larger size ego one tank but a completely different make that would fit on my ego one battery. I'm thinking if I got a different tank (larger than 1.8ml) say, a nautilus mini, I wouldn't have to put up with the ego one (crap) coils. I think I've heard the Nautilus mini BVC coils last longer than ego one coils.

Am I going down the wrong road? (Wouldn't be the first time!) I'm on a bit of a budget presently so trying to think if an economical choice.

I'd go with the GS Air tanks...either the regular sized 2.5ml. one or the GS Air M (4ml). I've never had much luck with tanks in the past, but the GS Airs seem the least "fiddly" and most reliable, and for me, the GS Air coils that go with are long lasting and reliable.

I've had a GS Air coil in a GS Air tank last one day short of 3 weeks! And that was running approximately 190 ml. of juice through it. True...the juice is 85PG/15VG and clear. Still...pretty good, right? Most of the coils I've used so far last about 2 weeks. You do get "duds" once in awhile but, so far for me, not at all often.

An important thing to know... any interest in coil building? I'm thinking there are options nowadays that can do both, using replacement coils, but also offer the ability to make your own.

It just takes practice.. Usually start out with a Single Coil build and work your way from there.. You can get Coil Rollers these days that pretty much roll them for you! Just do a lot of research and get all the materials you need and try it someday.

pay attention to the different diameters though! all the gs air series are using the same coils but the cartos/tanks vary from 16mm to 22mm diameter, i believe - unless it's 19mm and 22mm

i very much agree with this recommendation but have not used them on an ego type battery

Thanks @fourthrok , I can't even imagine a coil lasting that long! Wow. The first few packs of replacement coils (ego one 1.0ohm) lasted much longer than they do now. My B&M store actually gave me a new pkg free due to problems with their latest shipment. They received a new shipment (of which I got a free pack) and same thing...crappy, short - lived coils.

It makes vaping a lot cheaper and you'll find that you can actually improve your vape at the same time. While the GS Air coils last a long time and have great flavor, a lot of us started rebuilding them with cotton or rayon and found the flavor even better. And it's not really all that hard. Cheechako, our resident coil rebuilding guru in the GS Air thread, did a video on rebuilding them that makes it really easy.

And once you start rebuilding coils, you might find yourself venturing into RTA's. That's what I've been doing the past couple of weeks and am finding it really enjoyable, plus I'm finding that I can really fine tune the vape to fit me. Just something to think about for the future - take your time and maybe it will come.

The Austin Library is the preferred hangout for the under-showered homeless. The smell is less than nostalgic...

At least, now it's easier to find kindred spirits instead of being stuck with whatever idiots happen to be nearby.

It makes vaping a lot cheaper and you'll find that you can actually improve your vape at the same time. I felt the same at first, positively terrified at the thought of messing with "electrical stuff." I'm a girly girl in *some* ways. But I got so curious hearing about the stupefying vape to be had from building one's own, and curiosity is generally all it takes for me to somehow get over my qualms. Plus I was sick of waiting on the damn mailman to BRING ME MAH COILS!

Once you decide to take the plunge, lots of folks 'round hyeah to help you, guide you, and make the whole process a lot easier.

While most of us have gotten used to making 'toodle puffer' builds in RTA's designed for much more, on one hand I'd like to see some genuine innovation on the low volume end of vaping but on the other hand I'd hate to see the DIY aspect of vaping be pushed aside for newfangled technology.

I still can't believe how well the KFv4 and Nautilus work with TC builds in them. Nice consistent vapes. All at a mere 12J @380F on m YiHi's.

I needed it to reach the magic number for the discount while buying all of their remaining Smok coils.

What did I buy? Any opinions on it?
