I hear that! I hate to admit it, and don't get me wrong...I love my grandson, but I can't deal with him and his mother (my daughter) staying at our house more than a few hours, anymore. In 2013 daughter came to live with us with our then 9 month old grandson, her two dogs and her cat. They stayed 7 months while her husband was at Army Officer training. It was a nightmare. Her hormones were apparently raging, and she was going through the "insecure first time mother" thing. The baby was let to run wild. He started walking at 10 months and proceeded to destroy or try to destroy everything he could get his hands on. Plus screaming a LOT. Dogs also allowed to roam wild...chewed up some stuff. Daughter, meanwhile was either reading "Game of Thrones" or on her iPhone. Okay, that is a little unfair. She did do the groceries and cook dinners for us. And she did have fits of helping clean the house. But it was rough. My husband was in the hospital for a time during that time...and I'm disabled. I swore I would never go through that sort of torture ever again. I love my daughter and the grandkids...but they aren't staying here anymore. When they came to visit last summer they stayed in a hotel. My children are grown up and my house is not child-proof. They are just going to have to deal. (I'm such a meany aren't I!)

When my stepfather had a major heart attack and triple bypass in March, my husband and I had to stay with my mom over a weekend, because she's 99% wheelchair-bound and really can't be alone, her house isn't really setup for someone in a wheelchair. That single weekend was all the reminder I needed of why I no longer live with my mother. :D If anything happens to that man... she'll be going to an old folks' home, she is NOT living with me. :D

No not a meany just realistic. I like to think that visitors are as uncomfortable in my space as I am with them in my space so a friend has a small detached granny flat that I rent for any visitors. That seems to work. I save my sanity and they can keep their routine. Lucky in my family of 3 brothers and a sister only one brother has a daughter and see is 16.

New York (no, not the city)
You just had to point that out, didn't you.

Sorry, I'm so tired and the spelling protection in my head is malfunctioning. What I was trying to say was citizens of the united states of America! Although I bet you understood what I meant anyway.

Why isn't coffee boosting my body? Wish there were some kind of magic energy boost product. I need a body boost. My lovely 4 month old preferes to be awake at night, and sleep during the day unfortunately for me. On top off taking care of my "lay-in-bed-sick" SO, all the undone house work (why does it never end!? I clean up everything, after 1 hour it's just as bad again) + a couple major exams at school.

I'm just really burnt out, any tips and tricks you know of? :)
Boy that sounds familiar; my 3 year old has gone nocturnal and my SO is more or less bedridden. I survive by parttaking in as many vices as I can.

My wifes brother used to visit us twice a year and spend a week each time. It was him,his wife, their daughter(our niece) and their dog. Now don't get me wrong my wife and I love animals. We have 6 rescue cats and had 3 rescue dogs as well.
My wife had asked him to leave the dog in a kennel. Needless to say that didn't happen and the dog chased the cats all over the house. They sit around the house and look to be served and waitered on.

There was a couple of times when they said they were going to take a ride to the store, and my wife would prepare dinner only to find out that the ate while they were gone! When they were leaving the last time, and I mean the last time, they told our niece to empty the dogs water bowl out, which she did by picking the bowl up and dumping it out on the living room floor.

You can choose your friends but you can't pick your Family!! :D

Yup. Nothing above 40 dollars. If I do, it'll be + 25% tax and customs fee at x%

And if you order to much nic at once, it'll get destroyed. 3 months is the limit. But what is 3 months use excactly?

And those extra costs makes it even more expensive to get stuff.

Really hope my package gets through. Stopped at customs warehouse anf haven't heard nothing. I'll call tuesday if I get no information.

Amen to that!

I like my space, and I can be very much a loner most of the time. Last year my mom fell, broke her hip and was on the ground for 6 hours before anyone found her. She couldnt get up her steps to get to the phone, so I knew I had to do something. She lived a good 20 minute drive from me. I ended up buying her a new trailer and putting it on my property and it works out good. I can check on her frequently now and she knows not to just show up or my pit bull will jump all over her (he loves his grandma). When my nieces comes weekly to visit their grandma they know better than to come back to see me for I told them my house is not child proof and I have loaded guns all over (I dont, most of them are in the gun safe but its a good excuse to avoid company :) ) plus the pit gets wound up around kids and knock them down and licks them until they scream and are giggling which means the kids are now wound up and the nieces hate that lol. So for the most part I have it made, family avoids my house like it has the plague!

Actually, the Life Alert or similar might also be a good idea. My MIL is 92, and we got one on her a couple years ago. And she has used it a couple of times, even though we're literally next door. (Well, we're out in "the country", so too far to hear her scream!) If nothing else, peace of mind for her and us! And the fob she wears is waterproof, so can be on her even in the shower.

I got her one and she complains bitterly about it but does wear it.

I like that there are devices out there that will send help if you are unable to dial 911 yourself, I really do. A group of us just could not help but notice it is always a female (and old woman) who has fallen and "can't get up." I have never, not even once to this day seen an old man depicted as vulnerable and totally helpless in one of these scare commercials. We have renamed it "the health scare system."

Most guys will spend their entire life refusing to ask for directions, or a helping hand so you really think they are going to sit back and say "I need one of those"? We are hardheaded to say the least and we are proud of it. Thats why it is marketed to women. Now a guy will get one for a parent or someone close to the family but for themselves, no way.

My beloved son (now about to turn 10) had "hyper-alert colic" (not the same as normal colic) as a baby. 15 minutes of sleep at a time while someone was holding him was the most we could usually get.

The sleep deprivation got so bad my wife started having anxiety attacks, and I almost lost a finger in the machinery at my job.

Look up Dr. Sears and "high needs child" the best advice my wife and I found for the situation.
