I'm feeling pretty secure about everything except attys. I have a lot of regulated mods now that take external batteries and several mechs that should just about last forever. And if push comes to shove, I think I could make a simple box mod. I'm going to stock a few 510 connectors just in case.

But attys you really can't make unless you just happen to own a machine shop. And I haven't really figured out how to gauge how long each of my attys will last. There are stripped threads to be concerned with, and occasional drops that could break glass ones. I'm stocking spare parts for the ones that are available. But I still don't feel real secure in that area. So I'm going to start buying a couple three every month from FT or clearance sales while I still can.

I fiddled around on the steam calculator for coils. Figured I needed 16 wraps to make the resistance I want (1.8) with 28g kanthal. Maybe switch it for 30-32? Should I change the order before it is sent?

Oh and also figured out of nic. If I buy 500ml 100mg/ml, it'll last me about 4 years.

With over one year of use my R91% are still perfect, even the o-rings. I figure 5 years use would be pretty easy to achieve and I don't see 10 years plus being at all unrealistic. My drippers will last even longer.

LOL I strongly recommend a change, if you want to remain in the tootle-puffer club. I use 30g now, 32 is a bit harder to manage.

However, play around with steam engine a bit longer to make your own decision. Can you go a bit larger on inside diameter?

That seems high, what is you coil diameter?

Edited to add 28 and 30 are the most useful gauges in my world

Yes, I just saw what others recommended for 1.8... But 16 wraps.. Is that even possible without making a dual on the subtank mini? :p

Why is 32 harder?

vapez, I wrap all my coils to 1.5 to 2 ohms and I strictly use 29 and 30 gauge kanthal. 32 is harder to use because it's so thin that it's hard to wrap.

no no what is the Inside Diameter of the coil you ran on SteamEngine? :)

vapez, that's a pretty tiny inner diameter coil (1.3). You won't get a lot of wick in that. I generally use 2.5, sometimes 2 for my rebuildables.
Well, I for sure don't know, I just put the wire and the resistance I wanted in there to be honest :p

I already cancelled the 28AWG soo..

If anyone could just say what gauge I should use and not have to make 16 wraps for a coil at 1.8ohm, I'll be fine. I am going to research and figure it all out until the package arrives (2-3 weeks ahead in time)

See my post right above yours. Use 30 gauge and 7 wraps to get 1.8 ohms.

@Vapez
I run coils from 2 to 2.5 in Kanthal and 3mm in Ni200.
Usually 7 to 9 wraps is good.

Also are you running this on a mech or regulated with no buck or why do you want 1.8 ohms? :)
I don't quite know. I'm happy with my 1.8-2-0ohm coils. Don't really want to go much lower. Could stretch down to 1.6, but not any further.

Inner diameter is the actual diameter of the coil, not the space to build the coil, right?

:)
