I find accents fascinating. Also interesting to me is the reference by previous posters to north and south, Yankees and Confederates.
Canadians have a tendency to differentiate our country using "Easterners", "West Coasters", " The Prairies" and "The Atlantic/Maritimers" (talk aboutcher ayccents!..love 'em).
Maybe we don't speak of "North" and "South" because a great percentage of our population lives in close proximity to the US border. As if someone shook the country and everything settled at the bottom.
