FDA wants a ban. Politicians want tax revenue.
There's only one real video if you ask me, and it's called "life" and we all toss our die, we takes our chances.
I am not pleased Trump accelerated my final purchases but BOY will I be glad when it's over with finally. Because it is true Trump is not actually the FDA which I find far more.... Well it's a lot harder to convince. Etc.
So either way, I'm good. Well not, "good" but it will be taken care of.

Making a Vague statement about liking Vaping as an Alternative to Cigarettes is Not the Same as saying that the FDA has been Instructed to Not Ban Flavors.
It's kinda like when you Break you Leg in a Car Accident and the Doctor says they have to Set it. The Doctor can tell you that it Isn't Going to Hurt Much as they Strap your Arms Down.
But Deep Down inside you Know that it is Going to Hurt Like Hell. And that they are just Say'n this so you Don't Panic and Start Screaming.
Actually they Can't. But they Are going to Regulate e-Cigarettes back to the Stone Age.
So Hope for the Best. But Plan for the Worst.
To what degree Trump controls the FDA is unknown to me. He in theory is capable of appointing a head but in practice cannot do so because no one will work for him, or at least stay working for him for a significant period of time. Carter had a similar problem but with much greater repercussions because these days the deputy director remains the de facto head until a head of department is established. The department in question is at least able to continue to function.
The FDA has been very closed mouthed as far as I can tell. The last announcement they made was done long before this CDC stuff, and didn’t include flavorings at all. It was announcement about hardware.
The particulars of the acting head and how exactly the FDA charter works become pertinent. I have little knowledge of either.
It’s possible Trump retains massive control of the FDA. I just don’t know.

That was going to happen Anyway. I think the Timing of this was more driven by Media FUD and Hysteria.
That... and is the FDA's Funding Appropriation coming up anytime soon?
Not an answer. More or less the complete avoidance of an answer.
Yeah... And If was the HHS/FDA, I wouldn't want my Funding to be Held Hostage by a bunch of Over Zealous "Save the Children" e-Cigarette Haters.

Hopefully this will turn out to be another "sharpie" moment, but more than likely it will mean the FDA will figure out how to tax it. Maybe some one with sense will remind them that their are laws against underage sales now and maybe enforcing the laws makes more sense than giving our country a repeat of Prohibition.
